Hi Maria, many thanks for your question. Sadly the camera arm on the Compact 10 (and Compact 10 HD Speech) only comes out of the unit from the right hand side. This means it's not ideal for left handed users wanting to write underneath it. There are various other similar sized solutions available where the video magnifier is held above the page in a stand which works very well for writing and practical tasks under the camera though. Please do get in contact if you wanted to find out more about those or perhaps wanted to try some of them out with our completely free, no obligation, home demonstration service🙂
Hi FL Char, many thanks for your question. We think a handheld unit with auto focus may work to help with this task such as a Looky 4, Looky 5, Candy 5 HD II, Explore 5, Luna 6, Clover 6, Mano 6, Compact 6 HD. However, this will require the unit to be held up above the jigsaw with one hand at all times. A more comfortable option might be something like the Clover 7S or Clover 10 v2 (both with their stands) which allow them to be used completely handsfree, suspended above the jigsaw. They also have larger screens which would provide a a larger area of magnification, hopefully making it easier to complete the jigsaw. The can also be connected to any external monitor or TV allowing for an even larger viewing area of the jigsaw and its pieces. Another options to consider might be larger transportable or desktop video magnifier systems but sadly the price increases when going into these categories of device. Finally, the latest wearable video magnifiers also offer true freedom for practical tasks such as this but again the price level is much higher than the handheld options. We hope this helps and please do feel free to email or call us if you have any questions :-)
It might help to update this video AND mention that a FREE app "Seeing AI" for the iPhone will perform these functions and also instantly capture and read text aloud.
Hello Mr Corbett, thank you for your comment and please accept our apologies for the very delayed reply. We do cover this in our webinars and during other training we provide but have not yet been able to update the video. This is in progress and we hope to be able to upload an updated version very soon.
Hi Jimmy, many thanks for your message. We'd love to assist but we don't have a record of you purchasing anything from us and you haven't mentioned which handheld video magnifier you have. Please feel free to call the office on 01775 711 977 option 2 or email us: enquiries@visionaid.co.uk and we'll be happy to help.
Hi Vivek - many thanks for your question. Sadly none of the handheld video magnifiers available from any manufacturer are currently waterproof (or even water resistant). Please keep checking our website for any new releases though.
Very informative video
Thanks Bzo Bzo!
Do the RNIB sell your product. And if not were can I see a demo. As I live in Belfast.
Does the compact 10 extra magnifier come out on the other side too for left handed users?
