Love this video, perfect timing! My father-in-law just gave me a sewing machine for my birthday and I’m having so much fun! I’ve already made several pillows and can’t stop thinking about all of the potential projects I can try! I hope my skill level can eventually match my ambitions 😉💕
Hi Sara love this video! Tip to resize a feather pillow insert… Measure and mark on the insert the size insert you need. Run a stitch across sewing it together at that mark by hand or machine. Then just cut the extra fabric off. Smart idea taking the feathers out side. I tried this in my garage awhile back and I’m still finding feathers out there. 😂 Which is how the idea of sewing it together was born.
I recently learned how to make a pillow cover using a you tube tutorial. You are so right! I have so many thrifted fabrics and some fabric I purchased and made so many beautiful covers! I am planning to sew covers for every season for change outs. It's such a fraction of the cost of purchased covers. I am talking like making them for 3-10 dollars each. Of course it depends on the fabric you choose but it's so affordable and high quality!
Sarah, I absolutely adore you! I stumbled upon your videos and you're so talented. I am so enjoying watching all that you share of your life, home, and skills ❤️
Sarah, all three projects turned out beautifully, I have loved that pillow fabric since you showed it in the living room makeover, so happy to see you use the leftover bits. If you master these tips you can truly personalize your home and save so much money!
Perfect timing! I'm wanting to sew new outdoor covers for a wicker couch I bought off of the marketplace, but I am not very confident. My new sewing machine has been its box for almost 6 months!😆
Love watching your DIY’S. You explain very well to follow along. You are so pretty in your dresses, I would like to know where you get most of them. Beautiful lampshades .Marilyn from Michigan. Have a blessed Happy Mother Day.❤️💐
Thank you so much, Marilyn! I have thrifted some of my dresses, and most of the other ones I get from Amazon! I have a little storefront where I've bookmarked some of my favorites: www.amazon.com/shop/sheholdsdearly
Everything is so pretty!! You are very good at breaking down all the steps and making it look do(able). I especially like the miniature lamp shades.. I saw some miniature ones exactly like that at Goodwill for .99 cents each.. I didn't purchase them.. major regret.. however.. just a few weeks ago I was at a different goodwill and I saw four pleated ones.. same size in a deep forrest pine green. I did purchase these .. I don't have a chandelier to use them yet but I'm keep them for when I do. Still regretting the ivory ones I left behind but lesson learned. I'm sure I will find some again.
Wonderful video Sarah, your home is looking so good, I see your vision coming to life with the completion of each project.Thank you for the three tutorials,I never realized that covering the parson style chair would look so easy , love how your empire shades turned out. ❤
Beautiful Sara. The chair looks amazing and so professional. And thank for the bonus tutorial on pleated shades. I was hoping to be taught by someone with finesse and sophistication.
Dear Sarah, thank you so much for this tutorial! I am looking forward to trying the pillowcase! I too have no sewing experience, but there is a sewing machine in our house! I have already made the pleated lampshade based on a previous short video of yours! I am so grateful!
Hi Sarah, do you play the piano music for your videos? Its always lovely! Hope youve had a lovely Mothers Day Sarah. My mum was a seamstress, and would have loved the things you sew, so it's lovely seeing you sewing stuff this week, as it would have been her birthday in a few days.
Such gorgeous fabric selections. I really like to get my decor fabrics from fabric guru, older prints but heavily discounted. I recently made a box pleat slip cover for my table lamp. I saw them for sale from a place that Liz Marie Galvon shared but for the heavy price tag I just knew I could figure them out on my own for a fraction of the price
I want to make a lumbar pillow. I have a lovely hydrangea print fabric, which will go so beautifully with my navy and white guest room. I need to figure out a slipcover for the chair in there....that will be a feat as it has wooden arms.
I have a few slipcover tutorials on my blog - depending on the style of your chair, you might find one or more helpful! sheholdsdearly.com/?s=slipcover - this link will bring up all of the slipcover posts on my blog!
I’ve taught sewing and my suggestion if you are nervous is to practice sewing straight seams . Use the little guide to the right of the foot ( the part that holds your fabric is place. Practice until you can get it straight. Also learn to monitor the speed with your foot pedal so you do not go too fast - which causes mistakes. Thirdly - the iron is a seamstresses best friend for professional looking projects. Spray starch is another great tool. Good luck,
I too love changing out pillows using pillow covers. Yours looks so pretty! I was wondering how you were going to handle the feathers. I have an old down quilt I have been afraid to take out of the duvet because it has shed so many feathers. An outside project for sure. I have old linens to wash and dry outside. I need to look up a recipe for vintage linens, as I lost the one I had before.
I am inspired to make a lumbar pillow after watching your tutorial especially since I have been unable to find one that I like that goes with my new duvet cover. I am wondering where you got the blanket you have on the bed. I have been looking for one like it and can’t seem to find one with green in it.
I notice your Edwardian tea gown on the mannequin needs a petticoat. I have the Edwardian gown my husband’s grandmother got married in...in 1904. I put it on a mannequin and found the undergarments at an antique store. I attached a large cameo brooch of the Three Graces at the neck. It’s lovely and people comment on it’s beauty.
It's from Target, but they don't carry it any longer! The brand Safavieh on Amazon has some pretty distressed blue rugs, though that are similar! rstyle.me/+Pm_BMJcBnLK566bQgRIMyQ

Smart idea, Kathy! Thank you for sharing! I hope you find the last of the feathers soon! :)
Love the lumbar pillow on your bed, Sarah.
I’ve been a seamstress for over 50. My most satisfying projects are quilts and a suede bedspread with fringe for my king size bed.
That sounds lovely, Terri!
We can only imagine how you make your family or guests feel in your home. We feel so welcomed. 😊

Yes, it's one of my current favorites!
The lumbar pillow is fantastic! What a great idea! I will try to make a form using some of my feather inserts, too.
Go for it!

Hello Alison, no, I do not play the piano tracks in the video - we get them from Epidemic Sound!
Absolutely love all these projects
Thank you!
WOW!!! What a GREAT video. Very educational. Thank you SO MUCH 😊 ❤
You're so welcome!

I love oxi-clean for washing my thrifted linens, but depending on how old and fragile yours are, I'd love to hear your recipe!
Fun video, so informative ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!

That's my mother's wedding dress! ♥
Lovely, everything you do. My question is where did you find your rug in this vlog?

I have used a body pillow for my insert
Smart idea!
Hi I just saw your front door and I really like the color , can you tell me what the paint color is and where I might find it
It's Gale Force by Sherwin Williams!
