Scam in Canada | Friend Lost $4,000 | Job Scam targeting International Students in Canada

- In this video, I talk about a scam that happened with a close friend of mine in Canada. He became a victim of a job scam that happened with him in Thunder Bay and because of his carelessness, he lost $4,000. He is currently a student enrolled in Confederation College, Thunder Bay, Canada.
I also explain how you can deposit a cheque using your bank's mobile app in Canada.

Thanks a lot for making this video. I too got similar job and they send me $1500 cheque to purchase company related stuff. When I asked them to deliver cheque physically do that I can convert it to cash then they are not accepting it. Also no company gives us money to make purchases related to them, when I asked the same them no reply from them. Mine was a data entry job.
Be careful everyone. Not to lose our money is more important than earning money.

Wow thanks for sharing, I have never heard of this scam. I think that company probably is fake too and they were doing some money laundering.
It is my opinion that one should be very wary in dealing with lawyers, bankers, doctors, who supposed to have fiduciary duty (they do not seem to understand or respect it) -- I have experienced prevalent unfairness in accessing public services (including healthcare and legal support / representations) in Canada. I fled from Canada to protect my health and safety / life.

Hello, I work for a US bank and this is really common now a days in US and Canada. People make friends with you in a park or somewhere, give you a check saying they have issue in their account and ask you to pay them the cash. Then the check is returned with which your account is minus the check amount plus there is a charge for return check fee.
Solution:
Please contact the bank after 24 hours of check deposit and ask the the funds availability schedule. Use the amount as it gets available. Banks have a specific date on which the funds will be made available.
In an emergency you can also ask for early funds availability.

He has done it…but everything the company gave was fake. The ad they had posted, the number they had given. Nothing is there.
