    I was at the last event in Nashville. The card and show was actually a blast. Had Flair’s match been the other 3 involved, hot tag flair for literally 2 minutes, figure four and go home, it would’ve been fine.
    Instead most of us thought he was dead on the apron when he was laying in the corner holding on to the ropes, and then before the knuckles shot where he’s literally having to be held up on his own two feet.
    His face was as purple as his tights at the end. It was bad.

      Too bad Ox Baker died because they could do a "heart punch" match in which Flair is pronounced clinically dead but is brought back to life at the hospital. Or maybe use the Undertaker, who used the heart punch in a few matches.

    I will say this, I watched Lou Thez wrestle his last match in Japan in 1990 if I'm not mistaken (he was about 74). He really looked great and wrestled incredibly, putting his opponent into a pretzel! He lost the match, but the fans loved what they paid to watch and Lou passed the torch to a guy who not only he trusted to protect him, but was a huge fan of his and a great future wrestling legend there, too, Masahiro Chono. The difference I think here with Flair is that Lou was a legitimate tough sob who was tough as nails at any age. He was a one of a kind champion.

    • @Fencellisk
      @Fencellisk ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think the difference is that Thesz took great care of himself physically and mentally. Ric was notorious for drinking and partying and not really taking care of himself in his younger days. Apparently, he's been doing the same lately again.

    • @antonmasters8626
      @antonmasters8626 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There'll never be another Lou Thesz that was a once in a lifetime kind of guy.

    • @giantm846
      @giantm846 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      According to his memoir, Lou himself hated his last match and wished he was never talked into it!
      He also praises Chono so much and gives him all the credit for the match being watchable.

    • @shitlist8738
      @shitlist8738 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lou also dislocated his false hip trying to powerbomb Chono so Thesz was just as delusional in action in 1990 as Flair is being now in the 2020s.

    Ric Flair is just BEYOND pathetic at this point. I thought Hogan was bad for having an ego and glory hog, but Flair is well beyond in another class!

    Ric Flair shouldn't ever wrestle again especially if he does the Fred Sanford spot he scared the hell out of everyone with one.

    I understand about Ric Flair not wanting to retire because he loves stepping into the ring despite his advanced age but I don’t agree with him “retiring” from in ring competition only for him to step into the ring once again later on.
    He should just be honest with everyone and just admit that he's not planning on retiring.

    Still think for my preferences that this is the best gig on the genre. The VIBE is what makes it here. There's NEVER any 'anger' or 'drama" in the commentary, none of the over the top F-Bombs, foul words, etc. that some of the guys have. Dutch is never self serving, can speak on the subjects from an informed position, and maintains his objectivity while letting you know HIS stance on it upfront. He laughs with you as he maintains a self effacing attitude that comes through as truly genuine. He's not ever trying to 'convince" you buy his story. He just gives HIS take and stance and the vibe (there's that word again, it's called journalism open/close connector) is one that almost makes you feel like you could be sitting there in the office in the room hanging out. It all in the approach. And bring back Thunderfoot.

    Let's get a show with Hogan and Flair, call it "What will they say Next". The goal of the game is to figure out the lie. Jeopardy style game show. Woooo Brother! Also so Hulks a scientologist now? Hmm

    CVV is like a more hand-holdy interviewer who asks slightly less spicy questions than R James does. Nice enough guy who is friendly with a lot of the wrestlers.
    I'd love for there to be a Ric Flair musical. A very sorrow and somber first number when he begins as Richard Fliehr (caterpillar stage) and develops into a magnificently drunken butterfly called Ric Flair. Don't even like musicals but I'd pay to see that. 👌🏼

    If there was that crazy, futuristic Sci fi tech that allows people to live hundreds of years longer, Flair would be first in line to keep that one last match. He'd be wrestling an alien bear as a graft of skin if he could.

    The industry and the fanbase need to speak up, and be louder than the people around him that are probably gassing him up. He will die in the next match, and if he doesn't, the only way to plausibly not make a mockery of wrestling is to put him up against someone his own age. If you put somebody young and in shape in there, it just makes wrestling look stupid.

    Look, I know Flair can't let it go, but if anyone tells him to stop, he won't listen because why? Because he doesn't know when to give up. He's probably desperate for money at this point. He probably saw the movie The Wrestler and thought "hmm maybe I'll die in the ring". If thats the case, that's stupid. I loved Ric Flair when he wrestling in his prime, but here he is in his 70's wanting to wrestle "one more last match". I've seen comments on this saying "have compassion for the elderly", here's my thoughts on that: The only compassion I'll have is if he was smart to hang up his boots in 2008 after WM 24, he'd save his own life, but nooo, he wants to wrestle ONE MORE TIME. I just think Flair and Terry Funk are almost similar, but the only difference between them is after Terry Funk had his very last match, he was smart enough to say to himself "I can't go anymore, I'm not the same as I once was" and call it quits, Ric should be taking notes.
