- Hi guys! in this video of Johny Shows Projects I make a DIY Huggy Wuggy Costume IN REAL LIFE from scratch. I make the full Poppy playtime huggy wuggy in real life costume. This DIY project to make at home was easy to do and does not require many materials. I sewed the costume using a plushy blue blanket that matched HUGGY WUGGY's color. I used Yellow fleece, for huggy's gloves and shoes. For huggy's eyes and mouth I used poster board and paper foam. Tip for mask flap (Huggy's mouth): use a black foam air conditioning sheet. (Search for replacement air conditioner foam filter and get the 24 x 15 inch size or bigger). It's a little pricey ($10 or so) but it's designed for easy air circulation and for (human-proximate) respiration, and there's enough on a sheet for a second face cover as needed. If your kid is going to be wearing this all day and night on Halloween you want the mask to be much more porous than craft foam or airholes.
The other trick I've learned from past full-mask costumes is to save some craft foam board out and glue it into a cylinder, to attach to the top horizontal piece, so it sits on top of the skull as a spacer. You can cut this to length to make it so the face mask hole (Huggy's mouth) is at the right height so the kid can see out properly, then hot glue to the top piece. Cardboard is too uncomfortable for this.

The mouth doesn't look very breathable honestly. To help with that, you could use a buckram and paint it black. Buckram is a type of fabric with many holes in it and it's durable as well. I suggest also using buckram for eyes too so you could see better. It gives better vision, and you could paint the eyes instead of having to cut out poster and gluing it ^^
