    Hi Tim, I have just across your channel and watched both episode 1&2, it was both fantastic and encouraging, as I have a couple of figures to paint ONE OF these days. I have now subscribed so will look forward to some more great content, best regards from Australia.

      Practice, practice, practice. Remember, it's all about laying dozens of layers of super thin paint... like water.

    For me the best tutorial I have come across for painting a face, very in depth and detailed, thank you. Interesting use of what is not your traditional style of wet palette, I would be concerned about the fibres of the paper towel getting mixed in with the paint after it becomes wet and starts to break down, but if it works for you then its all good. The finished figure is superb and you should be very proud of it, wonderful work.

      LOL, yeah Tony I don't use that anymore. That was an early experiment. I use this one now...

    One thing you can do that is totally worth It. A graphite pencil along the edge of the helmet and on the bolt on the side of the helmet. Super nice stuff either way.

      've tried everything from dirt cheap to super expensive and I've actually found these to be the best value. Remarkably inexpensive but I'd pay twice the price for the quality you get...

    Do uou prefer oils over acrylics?

    • @41sniper
      @41sniper  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really, there are just some things that are much easier to do with oils... but they take so dang long to dry and have too much gloss to them. It's a love-hate relationship.

      Oscar, it's shown at 3:37... it's Vallejo Mahogany Brown

  • @MF-kv8cn

    hey, why do you use satin varnish, i thought most people always say matt is best? i'm really curious
    also what finish do you find Vallejo Model paints to be? thank you for the reply☺️

    • @41sniper
      @41sniper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rarely use satin, almost exclusively matte. I only use the satin on things like gun stocks, metal surfaces, etc. Flesh, leather and cloth always gets matte.

    • @MF-kv8cn
      @MF-kv8cn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@41sniper ok the helmet was metal hence the satin. i really hope you do some 1/35 scale figures from WWII time frame. Off-topic question, have you tried Scale75 paints, the scale-color (original black lids) or the Warfront (green lids) paints ?

    • @41sniper
      @41sniper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MF-kv8cn Yes, being metal, I use satin on the helmet... it helps to differentiate the texture from the cloth and skin. I've not used Scale75 but they look like a very good product. I like to stick with what I know and what is working for me. As for 1/35, that's pretty much all I did for most of my modelling career... I've only recently started doing larger scale projects... especially when sculpting my own. If you check the rest of my TH-cam Channel you'll find several other videos of mine in 1/35th scale... like this one...

      @@41sniper scale75 original and warfront in my experience are terrible. i asked because i was wondering what kind of results you received. for me they have poor coverage and leave brush strokes. i needed 8 coats to eliminate the brush strokes and 5 to cover a flat primed white surface. i did a test before i used them on my figure. i did a control test with vallejo and AK and they covered in two coats sans (no) brush strokes. I'm curious how their Artist line in the 20ml tubes behave.

      @@MF-kv8cn Gotcha, thanks for the heads up. I usual Vallejo and AK exclusively. A little Model Masters in a pinch if I need it in a hurry.

    • @41sniper

      Aha, the other video... similar answer but not as simple. If you watch the beginning of the video you'll see that it's a custom mix starting again with Mahogany Brown but I mixed in some white and neutral grey to mute it down until I got what I thought was right based on the reference photos.

  • @oscaraznar4288
