    15:56 how about pawn g4 to g5? And if black takes it queen h5 check then king to g8 queen takes pawn on g5 and next move knight to h5 and threatening mate on g7

  • @josephs7442
    @josephs7442 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The move Kf3 doesn't seem to me to be a house keeping move. If White wants to solidify the knight with f4, he must move the queen. Black last move was meant to stop Qg6 and prepared to meet Qe4 with Bxf4! when the knight is pinned and capturing with the queen drops the knight on e6. So the clear point to Kf3 is to protect f4 so Qe4 is playable. Of course, Qd3 is stronger after Kg8, but the idea was the same.

    It would have been nice if Josh would have lectured a little better. I feel like him waiting for the class to get the right answers doesn't really help with explaining the theory behind the moves.

    34:15 black doesn't get slaughtered after Qxe6 Qxb5 Qc6. It will just be a good endgame for white. Also I think in the first game the plan to go for f2-f4 was fine but maybe better with one of the rooks off.

    • @cruelpirate78
      @cruelpirate78 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly, although I actually think black is close to winning after Qc6 in your line. What's white's justification for sac'ing the piece?

    24:56 i think Qg6 with the plan to play knight f8 is good. If black plays Qd8 you can play nf8 and take on d6 pinning the rock if black plays rock f7 you can take on g7 and rock d8 if black plays rock d8 you can play knight g5. pls correct me if I am wrong.

    • @GangstaGijon
      @GangstaGijon 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    9:40 Why not 1 Qe4 - Re7. 2 e6? To me the e5 pawn seems to be better placed on a square that can't be reached by the black Bishop. If he takes with the pawn: Knight g6 check, forking the King and Rook. If he takes with the rook, you take the rook with the knight. If he doesn't take on e6, solidify with Rook e2 followed by Rook a1-e1.

  • @richiel5384

    9:30 …Kh8 was terrible, stockfish next move for black is …Kg8. Lol. Instead 2 …Rde7 3 Nd3 c5 4 c4 Ba5 or 4 Qf3 c4 and black is equal.

      @Luqs Tech 37:27 Nf2 check, if rook takes you win the game, kg1, Nh3 is double check ( with the queen), Kf1 forced, Qh2. Rxh2 forced because the knight on h3 protects the queen, king takes is illegal, then Nf2 is checkmate :)

    There's just a lot of dead silence also he keeps on waiting, why not just tell them the answer and explaining to them WHY that's the answer, he rejects every answer they give him thus delaying learning what should've been the tactic in the game

    • @kenmendoza6932
      @kenmendoza6932 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Plus, it doesnt matter if he rejects the answer or not. The point of asking those questions are to make the students come up of their own ideas. In a real game he cant just tell his students what the right moves are, the students need to come up with ideas on their own.

    • @jackismname
      @jackismname 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You learn much better searching on your own. I would teach like he does, if I were him. This isnt about cool tactics and entertainment, but really about teaching.

    • @spectralanalysis

      @@jonmichaelplotner3132 You can easily skip the parts where there's dead silence. It's a chess club lesson, not a lecture. The channel is called Saint Louis Chess Club, not Saint Louis Teaching You Mindless Middlegame Strategy. If this lesson is not at your level and you're getting annoyed because you're finding most moves he asks for, then there are playlists or videos for more advanced players. There you will have a harder time finding moves, I assure you.

    A good teacher simply does not make open generic questions (what can you do to solidify the position? what's the ideal move here?). A good teacher gives hints, to push the student in the right direction. That's why no one says anything, because he's not suggesting anything.

    • @brunobosnjak3011
      @brunobosnjak3011 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He is good teacher and gradually gives hints. No point in giving hints right away, it does not motivate to struggle for solution and improve.

    why the hell did he not take the pawn with the rook - the queen would have to move - rook exchange - and the knight would fall if the queen did not defend

    • @creatureofhabit7049
      @creatureofhabit7049 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are talking about time around 14:20, black would lose his rook if he takes pawn
      If rook rxe5 then qxe5 then black has to kill the queen with his queen and then rxe5 and black is down a rook
