Beautiful governor with a beautiful heart, tough love for a mass of humanity considered lost, to give them back their dignity. Thank you TH-cam, thank you Journeyman. I salute this governor for her courageous determination and her brother Bryon Garcia's quiet compassion. In the hearts of these prisoners, they already won the "Nobel Prize".
Hello , I'm form BRASIL and I'm very impressive about your Job ... I wanted that had this Job in my country ... becouse that works ... moreover ... all the inmate embarked in the event .... congratulations .... Nice Job !!
Trade? Learn? That takes a bunch of money. Now, in the US, it makes perfect sense but in a country where schools don't even have enough books, prison education is not a priority. The prisoners can basically choose between food or books. I am pretty sure they would choose the food. You saw how crowded the other prisons are. I'd say the prisoners would rather have food, then more space. Education will probably been down the list.
Some People make a lot of undesirable comments! Now i ask you! Did, You KNOW!! The "SUPER-MAX PRISON " Located in Colorado USA! Then research it and tell me what you think can they be rehabilitate like this! At least they are not wasting the Taxpayer MONEY!!!
Let me tell you about the truth behind the dancing culture of Cebu. Here in Cebu, I've seen lots of young students (especially girls) who quit drop out of school to become entertainers (most notably dancers). They thought they can become rich and famous through entertainment....and then live happy ever after. As it turned out, these young dancers ended up living hard lives (earning P300 per day, and in some cases per show). Some of them enter poverty and some go back to school over-aged.
I agree with byron Garcia this prisoners looks happy with what they are doing. they acquired fame. All people wants recognition and by dancing they got it. In addition these prisoners will turn out happy and healthy.. This human rights lawyer is simply wrong!!!
well i have very good friends from manila and they told me some people speak spanish in the universities, but what i dont understand why us banned spanish in phillipines and not in puerto rico that still is an associated state
waiting years for your case to be heard... isn't that one of the most horrible things ever? those poor people! i think dancing might be a good start but it doesn't get the innocent ppl out of prison!
You know your doing something right when you can keep the jail cells open and inmates can walk by each other without trying to shank each other, also, when people who want to interview the inmates can just walk in and the inmates are all "hello sir! good day sir!"
i know perfectly the history, at that time us grabbed puerto rico, cuba and philipines, eventhough puerto rico is still an associated state of the us and still speak spanish
I love that the last line that the commentator says turns out not to be true. That lawyer is an idiot. Look at these peoples faces, who do you want coming back into society. Most prisons turn out thugs, even though they don't go in that way. Byron treats his prisoners with respect, not like animals. He deserves a Noble Peace Prize.
...dancing is just part of their program and is not just the only thing they were doing inside the jail..well if you say learning and trade you can't push them to do that and you can also expect many more reluctant.if you want them to cooperate well you do 1st the basic things and this is what they were doing right now.f they cooperate in simple stuffs like dancing,it's not hard for them to work together at all...!
Typical of Filipino politics, Gwen appoints her inexperienced brother who creates his own private army/gang to "enforce", and people love them for little stunts like putting on a dance!
i hope they do a special micheal jackson tribute dance! what the garcia's are doing are better than just leaving it like other prisons in the philippines.
A genius, huh? LOL! If you are going to accept this as a genius stroke of governance, the Philippines is in real trouble. This is just a typical sideshow that is Philippines politics.
i guess dancing is just one of their daily activities. if you are the jail warden of such numerous prisoners, what will you do then? what could possibly be your programs for them? you don't exactly know what those prisoners are doing inside. now, i suggest that you visit the place before giving rubbish comments. are you from cebu? i guess not.
simply because Americans founded the American commonwealth in the Philippines for like 11 years if I'm not mistaken, tho, approximately from 1935 to 1946. Here, the education system is of course predominantly influenced by them, in which speaking English was not just medium for instruction but more likely became the second language of the Filipinos. I could even remember our neighbor, a very old man, who speaks fluently in english "with accent" and keeps on recalling the old days where english is their everyday language in school. On the other hand, yes we were colonized by the spaniards for a longer period of time, exactly 333 years. Here, i'm not really sure about what exactly was the educational system under spaniard regime, but as what my grandmother and my parents said, Spanish subject was compulsory in their highschool, if i'm not mistaken with the level. But they said, Filipinos were fluent in spanish before, but in the long run, it was being pulled out in the curriculum, which lead to the reason why we cannot even create a complete sentence in spanish. Though, it didn't deny the fact that most filipino words, specially, in Tagalog and Cebuano, are Spanish. Some filipnos could barely realized that they are actually speaking spanish words in their daily conversation. But as a reference, there are about 5,000 tagalog words, and more or less 7,000 cebuano words which are actually a spanish lexicons. I'm so sorry, I'm just overly fascinated into watching spanish movies and tv series, that's why i do a little bit of my research about their language, and how amazing it is to discover our commonalities with the spaniards. I hope I have enlightened your mind with my response in your comment. forgive my presumptuous attempt of replying though it was an 11y.old comment of yours already. lol. have a nice day!
