I’m so glad it helped you! Just uploaded a new video in this series of building a portfolio, where I really break down my thought processes Be sure to check it out ☺️
Hi Yaeli! I came across your channel last week as I was building my digital marketing portfolio for the first time. I know your channel is "small" (not really), and we're so used to huge channels, huge social media profiles and so on, that sometimes profiles like yours may go unnoticed. However, this is such a big mistake we make as social media users. I cannot express with words my gratitude for your fantastic work and superb TH-cam channel which is so high-quality, so informative, so useful, and just... for all of that dedication that goes into it! I was so lost before finding this channel and now I can really start feeling confident about my portfolio. I can't wait for each new video that comes up tbh. I'm sure that starting a channel on YT can be overwhelming and feel like "Is it even worth it?" sometimes. So... I just couldn't go away without commenting to say: this is gold. Thank you so so much. Sending you lots of love, from Spain 🇪🇸❤.
Damn… you just made my day! 🫠🥹 I’m so so grateful to be able to talk my shit and reach people and help them. This experience is really really special for me, I enjoy TH-cam so much and I might be small but I’m mighty haha 🫶🏼
GIRL THANK YOU! I'm currently trying to change my career field but I've been so frustrated and lacking motivation to create new projects and build my portfolio and your videos are helping me soooo much. You're a life saver fr 💕
Hi, great video! love your energy. You can add a contact link in figma that works as you mentioned using the special "mailto" notation to make it a url similar to an href html object. In the edit link in figma you put "mailto:[your email]" and this shows the option to open the email client of the viewer. You can even have a preset subject if you want by adding "mailto:[your email]?Hi%20Yaeli" ...being "?" a mail delimiter and "%20" a simple space in the mail subject. I hope it helps, looking forward to keep watching your videos.🤗
This has been so helpful and informative, Truly appreciate your time and honesty in investing in us new in the industry to have such a footprint to follow, forever blessed.
I hate that we’re discouraged from the very beginning “every UX job has like 1k applicants…the field is over saturated”. I’m here because i have hope and i want to better myself and break into this industry. i don’t need that fear/anxiety mongering stuff. your videos look interesting but i can’t have that negativity where i’m trying to find help.
Appreciate the feedback All of it is true tho. I think you have to be prepared for a long journey if you really want to succeed in this field. And I’m not saying it to discourage anyone, I’m saying it to prepare you. If I was only negative, I wouldn’t have had this TH-cam channel 🤷🏻♀️
Thaks a lot! Really 😊 I'm just waiting to see the serie, I've 4 proyects and I'm starting to create my portfolio (it's the 4th time). Greatings from Argentina
I've been trying to use Webflow and sometimes i get confused, i think it's best for me to design with figma first then I'll use webflow to finalize it.
Absolutely! Webflow isn’t a design tool. I only open it after all my designs are final on Figma. Btw Webflow has the best tutorials! I would also recommend checking out Flux TH-cam channel, lot of tutorials there
Yaeli, u r Amazing! i like the way u explain thing, and i thought u would mention Framer, i am working on it, its very helpful, especially when u copy paste from figma. Thanks
Hello after creating the gradient animation and making it a component, when I try to prototype it, I keep getting this error "prototype needs at least one frame" I followed your video, any reason why mine isn't working
Hmm, make sure the object is inside a Frame (and not a group)- you can check it on the top right side, and even change to a frame from there. The components themselves aren’t frames also- you will have to take the component you created and put it inside a frame (the easiest way is to select the component, hit cmd+G and then turn the group into a frame)
I’m a little confused about recruiters accessing figma. Does the link open the prototype portfolio in a browser? Or do they need figma downloaded or to have a figma account to view it, and that’s why there’s a download option? And how do u know the viewer will see the page with the download pdf option? You’re the best
Hey! Yes Figma can open as a web browser as well, just make sure to set your file to “anyone with link can access” in your file settings. Not sure what’s the second question- 1- if you mean the landing page I mentioned at the end of the video, then you’ll have to host it on Wix/Square space/etc 2- if you mean navigating inside the Figma file, you do it with prototyping- and you can have your CV as a page in your prototype
this is really helpful!! off topic question: how do i get a pop up with tabs & extensions on the left side of the screen? :) i find that so much easier and accessible! also, what’s the extension called that identifies font type when you hover over a piece of text?
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I think you are referring to the Arc browser that I’m using (I have a video about it, feel free to look it up) On Arc the menu is on the left and so are the Chrome extensions. The extension showed in this video is called Fonts ninja and it’s literally the best!!
I love this video, thank you for sharing! I'm currently a rising 3rd year at my university and in the process of creating my own personal projects/ portfolio. could you recommend a project a university could create to put on their portfolio for upcoming fall/summer 2025 internships?
2 things to consider before I answer: 1- I haven’t done an internship. 2- I used my course projects in my first portfolio Now, the biggest tip I can give you is make something relevant Choose a project that speaks to people, and will solve a problem that the portfolio reviewers will relate with OR is in the niche of their product. For example: if I’d wanna work at Figma, I’ll have a project that caters designers, OR I’ll design a feature/plugin specifically for Figma You can also choose a new area to focus on such as AI tools/apps The third thing to consider is to have one Web app and one mobile app to show versatility Hope this helps 🙏
ive watched a lot useless portfolio making videos and this is the only one helped with a great tips. Thank you!
OMG that’s the biggest compliment! Thank you so much I’m so glad I could help 🫶🏼

You got this! It’s all about practice and applying what you learn 💪

I will always be honest, even when it’s embarrassing haha 🫠

I’m so glad to hear! Thank you
This really helpful, can you do a video of how to create a portfolio in behance
If I’m being honest - I wouldn’t have Behance as my only portfolio mainly because most of the ones I seen weren’t optimized for mobile
Hi, really helpful video, how do you take just one of the components??
Thank you!
What do you mean by that? 👀
This is the most helpful video EVER! Thank u so much
Yayyyyy glad you found it helpful and good luck on your job hunt 🫶🏼

Thanks
You’re absolutely right! I have never used Framer but will definitely try to re-create it on that platform
Thanks for your feedback

2 things to consider before I answer:

Choose a project that speaks to people, and will solve a problem that the portfolio reviewers will relate with OR is in the niche of their product.
For example:
if I’d wanna work at Figma, I’ll have a project that caters designers, OR I’ll design a feature/plugin specifically for Figma
You can also choose a new area to focus on such as AI tools/apps
The third thing to consider is to have one Web app and one mobile app to show versatility
Hope this helps 🙏
Can I use this as a ux/ui/web design portfolio
Absolutely you can (and should) use whatever you see online as inspiration!
We can import this design framer as well, isn't it ?😅
Many people suggested Framer in the comments
I honestly never played with it, but it’s a great idea!
New Sub 🎉❤
Ayyye welcome to the club 🙃🫶🏼
Great
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
🙏🏾❤️
16:28 what do you mean you can't click a button in Figma? Also Framer is good as well. Continue the series. Subscribed.
What I meant is- I can’t make it a link that opens an email for a “contact me” button
I will definitely check Framer soon!
