    To any of you who may wonder about me being a safe distance away from the truck or being where the crew can always see me, I am always at a safe distance away from the truck at all times and I always make sure the crew can see me, and of course I wear my City of Milwaukee safety vest when ever I film a City of Milwaukee garbage, recycle or leaf collection truck.
    A big shout out to the leaf crew of City of Milwaukee Leaf Packer 32547 and Leaf Pusher 50261 for allowing myself to follow and film!
    Leaf Collection... City of Milwaukee Style!!
    Well it's that time of year again! Here we have a CCC CNG Leach 2Rlll Rear Loader, tagging along is a Trackless MT Series 6 pusher. I wanted to get a video of the Crane Leaches collecting leaves and my wish was granted. The driver of 32547 messaged me on Facebook telling me that he got called in to leaf duty and he told me the area where he was going to be in so I quickly rushed over the area and started filming. I gotta say, this video turned out way better than last years video for sure.
    Notice how some of the leaves and brush are in bigger piles, well the city has brooms (street sweepers) equipped with the leaf pusher and they have the guys go out in the middle of the night and on each street they push everything into one pile. I'm not sure how often it's done or how often leaf collection is done. Anyways, the crew gets a map and a list of where the piles are and they follow that map and they write down where the piles were on a list.
    I hope to get different types of trucks collecting leaves soon.
    Gotta love Milwaukee!!
    Well that's about it, thanks for reading and thanks for watching and a big thank you goes out to the crew! Without you guys, this video wouldn't be possible!
    Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did filming it! Thanks for watching!

    What a curious and unique accessory that the garbage truck carries. It caught my attention a lot. So much so that it is even rare to see on TH-cam.
    Although I imagine that at the time of folding the ramp once the load has been dropped, if there are some residual sheets left on the ramp, at the time of folding the ramp, the residual sheets, due to the inertia of the ramp, would go downhill, giving thus a task done without the workers noticing.

    This is neat, never thought of this where a modified refuse (garbage) truck is used but for the larger branches it makes total sense. It's not that you could use a diesel powered leaf vac to pick up the branches.

    Excellent use of manpower. 2 guys getting alot done. The truck probably doesnt need to be emptied very often compared to dump trucks and loader. Great system

    I have never seen that system before it does a decent job with the leaves and branches but it needs a follow up with a traditional street sweeper too really do a great job

    That’s perfect for the brush piles and bulk leaves. Maybe there is a street sweeper following

    Great way to pick up heavy wet leaves & brush. Vacuum takes to long and doesn’t pick up tree branches at the same time

    I don't know is it just me or does this trackless system leave a lot of debris behind. The old school leaf vac might be a bit slow, but it doesn't leave anything behind just saying. I mean look at all those smashed leaves left behind.

    A Leaf Vacuum Truck is needed to make it a little more easy on the workers. I need to talk with the City Council.

      Unique is right. If someone had described this system to me, I would have said that will never work. I wonder though how it works when the leaves are six feet high.

    If they could set up their trucks like Greenwaste of San Jose does I think they could do better... and also use tractors with tink claws instead of this machinery. Or the could have a high powered street sweeper and have a separate truck come by for bulky items like tree branches. Well anyways cool video it was entertaining to watch them struggle with all the leafs, I wish I could see that by me

    Seems like it's a pain in the ass and leaves more behind compared to a vacuum. The little rear number on the sweeper nearly hits the ground too.

    Kinda sucks they did this right after it rained resulting in a ton of leaves sticking to the street, leaving a bit of a mess. Always love watching these collections though.

    Way to slow our city uses a vac system with automated controls so the driver runs the suction hose as he drives along the streets. One man job not 2.

      You’re town must have one hell of a vacuum system. Been in the business for 30 years never saw one pick up tree branches at the same time. Vacuums are for leaves only. They are not wood chipper’s

    • @DC9Douglas
      @DC9Douglas 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seems slow but works very well- for Milwaukee.... those garbage trucks hold a lot more than a vac system can. The garbage trucks just keep compacting the leaves, until they cant take anymore;

      @@JonnyBlueChair If your lucky and live in an expensive area, agreed. Where I live (at the coast) they rely on the wind to do the job, - can be a sod in the Autumn to drive round a corner smack into a load of wet ones on the road, just blown their by the wind. More than once I've nearly slid into something - or somebody. Council are too busy keeping the 'prom' clear of sand, either that, or blaming 'cutbacks', for not being able to have enough men or machines to do everything.
