My favorite thing is Holt's face after he realized Jake punched his former hero to stick up for him. He- Holt, of all people!- looks genuinely on the verge of tears.
It's cause Holt has never had someone like Jake in the police before. They've all left him out of everything and always discriminated against him. The fact that Jake did that was very important.
@@atlas4789 season 1 is genuinely thought of as trash and even the producers didn't like it so most people skip it since it's also short and doesn't have to do alot with the rest of the season
We stan Jake. He punched his former hero for being homophobic, when one of Terry's daughters said she didn't wanna be a girl (although that was only because she had heard that women were treated lesser than men) he said she didn't have to be one if that's who she is, he helped Rosa come out to her parents, and just a ton of other stuff.
Man I love the scene with leslie in the gay bar but it hurts in a way cuz they were all so happy to have someone in government on there side and I feel that's something alot of us can relate to.
That was a great scene, it kinda gave me flashbacks to when my stepmom "found out" i was bi (it wasn't a secret, i was open about it, she just kinda ignored it unless it was relevant)
Rosa coming out as bi gave me the courage to finally tell my mother. My dad and sister already knew but my mom was a hard one to tell. And we're good now finally.
But can we talk about the fact that April was in a polyamorous relationship that was actually going really well until she caught feelings for Andy??? No one talks about it and I feel like we should talk about it?????
The only time that b99 let me down about lgbt issues was when Gina “insulted” terry and any by calling them asexual nerds. It made me pretty sad, because I thought b99 was better than that. 😔
@Uvaaren i agree that it is insensitive. However, I think that if the writers used either "asexuals" and "nerds" by themself then the meaning of it wouldn't really come through. Like, "asexual nerds" as in they are so enveloped in studying and smarts they don't have time for dating.
I love how representation can come in all shapes and sizes. Not everything needs to worship the LGBTQ community and not everything needs to poke fun at it. By having myriad responses and types, it normalized queer people and creates a world where they can be on equal footing with everyone else
