I had the incredible experience of spending a few hours on the set of NCIS and having multiple conversations with Mark Harmon. I can't fully describe his kindness and lack of ego. My son, a Down syndrome guy who is a leukemia survivor, is a Leroy Jethro Gibbs fanatic. The Make A Wish Foundation arranged a visit for my son, daughter and I on the set near LA in March of 2019. I thought that we would get a short tour and maybe a quick intro and an autographed picture. I could not have been more wrong. Mark Harmon met us at the door, calling my son's name. He was clearly busy that day, but he found 10 minutes or so every hour to spend with us during the 4 hours that we were scheduled to be on the set. Yes, they scheduled us for 4 hours! When the time was up, I thanked everyone and asked that someone call our transportation. Mark Harmon came over, walking quickly, and asked me if my son was feeling OK. I replied that he was but that it was time for us to go. Mark said, "You don't have to leave yet if Nick feels like staying. You haven't seen the ship, Gibb's basement, the diner" and continued to name things that we had not yet seen on the set. He had been keeping track of us the entire day and knew exactly what we had done. He found us for conversations and pictures many times during the visit and then insisted that we stay longer than planned. We stayed another 2 hours for a total of 6 hours on the set.and ate a meal with many of the stars and an incredible team of writers and staff, all of whom were incredibly kind. Mark and everyone who extended such an amazing welcome to us had absolutely nothing to gain from their generosity. That is just who they are. Of all the successful people that I have ever met, I can say that this guy and the NCIS team deserve every bit of it. Mark Harmon was exactly as he appears in this interview with Stephen Colbert except that, because he was not in an interview setting, he never spoke much about himself; the focus was on us as his guests. What a handsome guy, excellent actor a true professional.
Imma new fan of Mark Harmon. Genuine sweet character of a man. Hope you pass the tradition on to his disciples... Plus “it’s the F@“k Ship” ... LOL
Wow, when stephen colbert shuts up, it is a good show.
Yes, Mark is a gentleman, and this is the most words I have ever heard him say at one time!! *sigh* if only he was single. And living in my town. And interested in me. *sigh*
Never realised how much like Seth Meyers Mark Harmon looks (especially when he smiles)!
Thanks for all your love and support I really appreciate
Mark Harmon always seems like such a nice guy. That 's not really remarkable or anything, or you wouldn't think it would be. But, in a business where everybody seems to just do anything to get more and more attention, Mr. Harmon just seems relaxed and friendly. That's really cool.
Thank you so much for your love kind words and great support towards my career I'm so grateful..
Mark Harmon is sooo zen
what an interview
This is now in my top 10 favorite talk show appearances of all time (combine this clip with the Elizabeth Taylor piece for the complete experience). Just wow!
What an amazing run. Not his career (which is great), but the people he's been privileged to meet.
Yea, Mark Harmon is gentleman with big G 😊
