Great video. Lots of effort went into your presentation. I use NCE switch-kats to control my Kato turnouts and offers push button and indicator lights. I use DCC-EX now moving away from Digitrax. I like what you have done.

Kapton tape is used for thermal insulation. Use electrical tape for electrical insulation.

Just wondering why you wouldn’t use your digitrax throttle to control the turnout instead of the Kato switch.

Can we see more detail on the single wire connection from the switch to the DS64.

I solved the issue of the turnout switches not being correct by running a wire from the siding track to the switch machine. I installed an LED light at the top and wired it directly to the track. So when the switch is open I get a LED telling me that its open. It's a simple and pretty cheap answer

I am not quite following your solution, is it possible for you to show me a diagram to go along with your solution. Thx.

What is the app that you are using on your tablet or phone to control the switches for testing.

Can you help please. I am thinking of purchasing a z21 connected to my kato track. Is it just a matter of connecting the turnouts to the Ds64, or do each of the turnouts need to be modified to accommodate dcc

The DS64 is designed to work with bipolar turnouts so you should be able to connect them directly to the DS 64 like I did. However, I would double check the manuals before connecting them to the Z21 as I have no experience with that DCC system. www.digitrax.com/static/apps/products/stationary-decoders/ds64/documents/DS64.pdf

I just viewed another video of Mike Fifer regarding DS 64s causing problems when the complete system has been shut down and then all powered up at the same time. The DS 64s start throwing switches, because the Loco-net brain has not kicked in yet....only lasts for 20 secs or so. However all the preprogrammed switches now have to be reset. Do you run into that problem with your setup? Solution was to not power on the DS 64s until 30 secs or so after the Loco-net has come up.

I do have one rout that always seems to throw one switch when I first turn on the power to my train layout. I have my entire layout connected to a power strip. When I turn on the power everything powers on at the same time. I might have to try delaying the power to the DS 64s and see if that resolves the problem. Thanks for the info.
