It’s actually celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a brand new generation of beys, manga & anime called “Beyblade X”. Beyblade is based on “Beigoma” which are metal spinning tops that have been around literally for thousands of years in real life. They’re part of Japanese culture, hence the “Bey” part of “Beyblade”. It’s beigomas with blades.
