Yeah I’ve always know that pieces as a bazooka, that’s what it was used as in all of the Lego games. But it was originally made to be a big camera, Lego just found creative ways of reusing it since not many sets ever needed a big camera and it kind of looked like a bazooka
Great review! My dad owned both of the classic space sets that inspired this GWP set. I have so many fond memories of trying to put them together by filling in the gaps in tattered instruction booklets. They really were such a unique experience compared to the sets of today!
6951 Robot Command Centre was the only one I was never able to finish, due to the instructions missing half their pages and the internet not being so easy for a kid to navigate in the mid 2000s. You should definitely try to get your hands on that set, it's very odd!
It's so cute, I'm glad all that old LEGO charm managed to translate well into a smaller version. I'm glad that you can still access old manuals regardless of if one has a set.
My dad had 2 one gallon ice cream tubs full of lego space from when he was a kid! He was born in the early 70s. Good times & so glad he kept them for us to play with.
This GWP is great! It's taken me back to the good old days 😂. Too bad it's held hostage with a $200 minimum oder, For Shame Lego! Thanks for the Great review Cheesey! 💕
I got this thing and I love it. I also have the remade galaxy explorer when it came out. It's so awesome to see Lego celebrate these classic Lego space sets.
The remakes are always so much! The Galaxy Explorer is sooo good. I've had the set for over a year now, but I haven't had time to actually build it. It will be a glorious day when I can!
Cheesey; As you can see , I was able to enjoy and absorb my entire childhood with Lego Classic space of the time. Your explanation of the entire era is 10000% correct and spot on. I feel like everyone these days would be better off buying one of these classic sets rather than spending $200 for this GWP! I got so much joy out of Mobile Rocket Transport, and I daresay it transported me back to those simpler times.
@@CheeseyStudiosdue to him and my older brother i actually have really nice collection. I have the original yellow castle, the galaxy explorer and the black seas barracuda so in my opinion the 3 most iconic sets.
Despite the fact that I wasn’t alive during the 80s I fell in love with classic space from the moment I saw the figures, the sets, and the color scheme. It has such a distinct charm to it that many other themes don’t. When I first heard I About this promo I got so excited my only concern is that I couldn’t afford the high price tag. I will probably buy it second hand like I did with the blacktron promo.
That’s the smarter move honestly. I did this with the Magic Maze promo last year where you had to spend around $200 to qualify, but I found a sealed copy on BrickLink a few weeks later for $20. These remake promos might be a bit more expensive on the 2nd hand market, but it’s still way cheaper that Lego’s website.
For a while at least, all of the Blacktron parts (except the stickers) even appeared on Pick a Brick. So that might be the best option if you're willing to wait a few months!
@@CheeseyStudios Thank you for the suggestion I will definitely consider it, however I also want to get a hold of the packaging and the exclusive figures would those arrive to pick a brick too?
When I’d first seen this gwp totally thought of 6927, 487 and 483 all sets I was given by a father who wanted to share his love of lego. So I totally agree that classic space is its own thing on its own pedestal and such a wonderful part of lego history, and for me the set that captures that the would definitely be 6980, a set that I would totally recommend to anyone because it had given me so much joy and truly captures the magic if classic space. Great video Caleb ❤, gotta pick up that gwp
Hey, Cheesey, I have a question for you: What is the name of the background music from the "Making minecraft block in LEGO: The deep dark" short, I have been searching for the name of the background music that you were using while presenting the deep dark lego blocks, so I was hoping that you could tell me what is the name of it :)
I really like this set and the callbacks to old ones. The price required to get it is pretty steep but I’ve just purchased the Lego Rivendell set so looking forward to this one along with it :) Also I love your videos and especially your minecraft series, had to become a member cause I couldn’t wait for the newest videos 😂 keep it up!
Welcome! So glad to have you as a member! You're in for a treat with Rivendell. It is such a fun build. I could not be more excited for the rumored Barad Dur this summer
I think it’s cool that both mini models share the same rocket, they found a set that transports a rocket and a set of a rocket launch tower and combined them together. I still wish these were just genuine sets though instead of GWPs, but clearly they’re making a lot more money this way by getting people to buy a bunch of expensive sets they don’t want just so they don’t miss out on the one small set they do want
This is awesome Small retro sets like these should be widely available and not limited to GWPs Lego should make packaging like they used to 3:50 😂 Awesome video
Thank you! Boxes used to be so cool. Ah, I miss those days too.... I definitely sent LEGO some feedback through the LAN about making these regularly available. My dream is that they'd still offer these as GWPs, but also allow you to purchase them separately during the promotion period too.
Hi, I liked your video, I agree that modern lego lacks originality. I wanted to know if you know the plot-the story of modern lego space 2024, who they are, which faction they belong to and what their task in space is, just mining purple energy crystals? Maybe they are a continuation of galaxy squad? In the 80s and 90s, the series: Blacktron, M-Tron, Space Police, Ice Planet, Spyrius, existed in the same universe, there were magazines, posters, with stories about who is a good guy and who is a bad guy, of course lego is always about imagination, but you always want to know the background. There are no magazines right now, not much is clear from the catalog, maybe you have information about who these guys from Lego space 2024 are? With respect to you.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about the lore of the new theme. LEGO has almost done anyway with lore and backstory altogether though in recent years. It's likely there is no established 'official' canon.
I wish it was available regularly, rather than just GWP. The lego website for me anyway shows it as having a €29.99 RRP. Which seems fair enough for the 325 pieces. Even as a limited time exclusive it'd be cool to get/
It was suppose to go live next week, but I've got some LAN Harry Potter reviews to do xD But yes, I PROMISE it will actually come out in March lol! I'm very excited for that one.

I definitely grew up calling it the bazooka too. 😂 Had way too much fun with it in LEGO SW...
That piece was commonly used on the front of spaceships, so kids all knew it was a laser gun, not a camera LOL
Why can't they just make these sets regularly available instead of locking it behind a high spend threshold?
They did… but just in the 80s 💀
Only guess is they're afraid not enough people will buy them on retail shelves
They need to squeeze as much money out of peoples FOMO as possible. By locking it in this way, they ensure people spend more
I kinda get this one but I think the Black Tron set they made should have been on shelfs
Money!
