    Ahahahaha he dissed Marco Carola! I love him even more now!

    • @groobee81

      Carola was such a great producer back in the 90s and early 2000s and not a bad dj.Now his sets are shit to be quite honest...so fucking boring no soul whatsoever

    • @FRamps
      @FRamps 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      groobee81 I totally feel the same. I was in Naples once, in a open-air club called Old River Park, and I saw Carola play for more than 10 hours straight!
      It was back in 2008 I think and it was the last good dj set I heard from him.
      His mixes today are so linear and monotone...what a shame.

      @knowingwhatthebuttondoes3432 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What he said about Carola was true back then, late 2000's
      to early 2000-teens techno sucked. I was really disenchanted and spent
      the era collecting older classics. Things improved out of sight around 2014. Guys like Olivier Giacomotto, Victor Ruiz and Enrico Sangiuliano are bring some colour an character back to techno.

    • @sellers_half3910
      @sellers_half3910 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I really like some of Victor Ruiz's tracks, but calling his work inventive is a bit far fetched I think. For me he was always the guy who produced stuff that sounds a bit drumcode like or what you would find on top of the beatport charts, so anything but groundbreaking or boundaries pushing music.

      indeed, Carola´s prime was more in the late 90s until early 2000er. he changed his style completly, too boring...

      Yeah, not sure what happened to Carola because he made some great techno bangers in the 90's.

    And lets hope that Legowelt keeps hes word, and stay focused by producing and not folowing the bank bills.

    He is totally right about Marco Carola and his minimal overhyped bullshit. Not only Marco, also Villalobos and the other overhyped dj's, even Hawtin in his '' minimal' days' They give minimal a bad name anway, the first techno from Detroit was always minimal as well but that had SOUL

    • @jimvaneupen6024
      @jimvaneupen6024 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      G Khan comparing villalobos & richie hawtin to 'marco carola' is funny

    • @PgTrAxX
      @PgTrAxX 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first Detroit was actually Electro oriented. That soul vibe came in later and was influenced by Chicago House.
      Also, Detroit Techno is not just 1 style but has Experimental, Tribal, Electro and House under its wings. And the thing you say about R Hawtin in his "minimal days" is bullshit.
      The only artists that should be judged badly are those who use premade loops/ghost producers. So, no, he's not totally right and sounds totally ignorant.

    Funny thing I have recently listened to a few modern techno tracks, and I just hated them. So boring, way too deep and monotonous. Now listening to this interview, Legowelt said exactly the same. I guess it actually isnt just about my own taste.

      Awe man theres some good stuff coming out rn. I feel like techno is having a new wave of artists the past few years. I heavily got into it in 2012 with Ben Klock and Marcel Dettman. Before I was all about Jungle. But after following what was going on in Germany back then it got me into techno and it's all i listen too.

      Its a general problem with the music nowadays. Uninspired, unexciting without any expression. I think it got something to do with all the digital possibilities. Every kid can make music on his laptop computer nowadays. But to work like that doesnt demand creativity properly

  • @matteo_ram

    I did not expect so much ignorance from an artist like Legowelt. From an artist that produces such an underground music I would have expected less judgmental considerations. Many people, musicians, composers, etc. would consider his music trivial crap, good only for junkies or musically clueless youngsters, and he is talking exactly like them about Carola's techno. Of course he can considers his music boring, soulless and uninspiring, we are in a free world, though a more positive thinking could lead him to figure out that Carola's music is moving many souls (despite he does not move Legowelt's one), many more than what Legowelt does. That being said there cannot be a ranking on souls, neither by amount nor by quality. As long as you are moving someone's soul you have done a great job, so in such case it is a childish thing to weigh your ability and work on numbers.
    So it is a really stupid comment that of Legowelt about the soullessness of Carola's music, trust me because at least he moves mine :) and Legowelt does exactly the same. Just enjoy the music you like, without judging badly people only because they feel YOUR VERY emotions with OTHER SOUNDS, gosh that is so pathetic! And try to understand what is good in other kinds of music, you could have much more fun in many more occasions ;)

      whoooo somebody's a Carola fan. He voiced his opinion, he doesn't like what he hears from certain techno/house quarters...there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You don't like his opinion. C'est la vie. If anyone's coming across like a petulant child it is you buddy

      +Matteo Ramina So, the man is not entitled to have an opinion and speak what he thinks because you and other people are positively moved by the artist he disses in question? Cool. I know for sure that the fat bloke singing gangnam style moves many souls in a positive way as well. But just because he does so, that doesn't mean that I can't find his music crap and the people satisfied with it of poor taste.

    • @yajnaamakusa8786
      @yajnaamakusa8786 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matteo Ramina Am I a junkie or musically clueless youngster?! I don't think so. Listening to what L is saying, he isn't slating Carola at all. 'Weird experimental stuff that blows your mind' is what he said about Carola. A compliment.

      Legowelt is also booked for years and years for more intelligent projects,this requires intelligent ears not allowed for conformers of easy bass lines.
      There's the point he's gonna be lucky even if people like you are not given themselves the opportunity to connect his lives to the universe that surrounds you,through the sound in this case. Good luck Oliver!!!

      I just dont like the arrogance of Legowelt. It sounds like he never heard of Carola before. And about that 'requires intelligent ears' thing, I think its more about what kind of music you like to hear, instead of what your ears are 'allowed' to hear. It really isnt that special listening to Legowelt.
