I think sometimes people see a title like "The Family" and think "I don't need to watch that one. I'm looking for new doctrine" or something like that. So hopefully this title screen will get more viewers because I feel this topic is important for people to hear about.
The Family A Proclamation to the World tells us that the family remains the supernal organization the Lord established for his children. What it doesn't tell us is why. Unfortunately, this video doesn't answer that question either. What this video goes into is how science has determine that a breakdown in the family social structure (especially at a macro level) can lead to aberrant behavior across all society. This video details a study that John B. Calhoun performed beginning in 1968 using mice. The study can be found here:

What we learn is what happens when the normal social structure breaks. And while a breakdown in the normal social structure can happen for any number of reasons, the outcomes and behavior is fairly consistent.

This is not meant to be an anti-[fill in the blank] message but rather part of an explanation for why the family as a social structure is so important. I am not anti-anything, but I am pro-family. This video is an attempt to show one reason why I am pro-family.

As you said that the family proclamation was the answer, the Holy Ghost testified to me that is true. I remember when it was first read by President Hinckley. I was at that Relief Society meeting. And the consensus then was why do we need this? Of course these things are true. But little did we know what lay ahead. Wow! I need to start studying and practicing its concepts more closely. And teaching how crucial it is. Thank you for your presentation.

Ok for reals, this video redefined for me, what it means to "shake off the natural man". Its scary how closely related this guys experiment with mice is to our current society. Just the underlying circumstances of cause and effect. I'm also looking at it in the perspective of the arise of the foster care system, that didn't used to exist at such a large rate....

Even a few years ago I couldn't help but think about the scripture of 2 Timothy 3:1-7, and the description of the Wickedness happening in the Last Days.
And like many of you, I too have seen greater and greater evidence that the Family Proclamation was and Is inspired. What used to make total sense back then has been covered up by the Mist of Darkness that has come over those who are still making their way to the Tree of Life, Our Savior Jesus Christ and His Gospel and His Love for Everyone who is Faithful!
I saw a recent video about a young lady who has been going to BYU. Her Professor briefly skimmed over what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in Gender and Sex being the same thing. Then this Professor, (BYU Professor mind you!) continued on her lecture about how the World views Gender in a Marriage and Family Science class.
This Female student was stunned by her BYU Professor's direction of teaching and this Female student (as well as her friend, and I'm sure other students) felt like they couldn't speak up and talk more about the Family Proclamation.

Thanks for that information. Satan has worked very hard on the family and especially mothers (women). I have felt it all my life, but I have made it clear to him that I don't follow him. I follow Christ because that is where happiness lies. When we focus on Christ, we will make better choices and he will help us.

Men are being weakened and made out to be villains. I feel so sad for men and how they are portrayed. There are more single mothers than ever before and this is being glorified. Look at the family court system. Children are ripped from their fathers and the system favors the mother even though she is often the one the kids need to be protected from (talking from personal experience with my own divorced parents and my husband and his brainwashed daughters he can never see). This is messing up so many children and their fathers feel even more worthless, and children don’t know who they are. Women are being portrayed as needing to be hardened, not feminine and loving, and that they should be rich and powerful, and that womanhood and motherhood are beneath her. There’s so much of this going on it’s becoming the “norm”. You can see the weakened state of the family. The message to children is that their parents and grandparents are all old school and they need to rebel against them because they are the “bad guys”. I mean, it’s all out there on front of our faces. It’s been happening for years and it gotten worse in recent years.
Additionally, I’ve thought about the same things about WWII. My husband’s grandfather may have come home in one piece, but he had severe PTSD that was never dealt with or addressed and then had a terrible temper which was handed down to his son and consequently had a major affect on my husband’s entire family and upbringing. Now, grandpa has dementia and grandma is so unbalanced because she had to take on a larger role while watching and enduring his bad temper and how their sons and daughters have issues and the challenges and pain they have because of this.
@@LatterdaySaintIdeas Agreed. When I hear that men need the priesthood to be decent/good human beings, I cringe. It’s caused men to be self-deprecating without even realizing it and they say things like, “She’s an angel,” or “my better half,” etc. As a woman, I can say that I’m no angel and my husband has some amazing qualities and I have mine but we both have our challenges and weaknesses, too. We are equal halves I guess you can say because we bring different things to the table. Neither is better than the other and both of us need the healing and strengthening power of the Savior in our lives. Satan is using every device possible to drag men down because less men worthily holding and confidently exercising the priesthood works for his plan.
@@LatterdaySaintIdeas YES. “Marry up” is a common one too. I roll my eyes inside when I hear it. You make some good points here. Yeah, Satan doesn’t haven’t use evil-looking devices, he is subtly hiding in the good too, which can be found in church culture. I joined the church at 18, I had experienced many traumas and the dark side of life, so I can see these behaviors and attitudes much easier than those who have grown up or been in this culture for their entire lives, many truly cannot see their destructive behaviors and attitudes they have. When I see or experience these attitudes and strange beliefs I remember the scripture about powers and principalities-that is what what we are dealing with, with many people, powers and principalities or I also call it a program. People don’t even know they are programmed to think and feel the way they do on certain subjects via outside sources, and sadly, these things have made their way into the Lord’s church because we are in a fallen world. So it’s also important to remember that belief is not doctrine being taught, it’s a thinking that has been programmed into people without their realizing it. The Lord will heal these things in his church in preparation for His Kingdom soon!
We cannot stop biblical prophecy from being fulfilled. 2nd Tim. Chp3 is one of my most quoted. Prophecy is given for so many reasons. Mainly I believe for perpetration for what is to come. Denying it won't make it go away. Thanks for this insight/correlation to the mouse study. Interesting thoughts. Humans (God's children) could hardly be compared to mice. I believe we are sentient beings along with consciences to facilitate higher levels of thought. But I do see some parallels in behavior in modern day societies.

I love the videos and I'm 18 preparing for a mission and a family soon. However I cant help but point out that today's world is so hard on husbands and fathers. So why would I want to be one? With divorce on the rise and men always losing those cases in court I face the possibility of losing half of everything I own, and my children for what? It's more safe and happy for me to not be married or have children and simply focus on work then risk everything for something I dont see is worth the heartache. If I'm wrong then someone is welcome to tell me why.
If you're preparing for a mission and a family, and you're thinking these kinds of thoughts... keep preparing.
You don't need to go into the mission field with an attitude that would mislead people from their everlasting Covenant. Eternal families are a HUGE part of our Father in Heaven's plan.
Hopefully, you'll do some SERIOUS praying about this🙏🏼
Anything worth having in this world requires work, my friend. A mission is hard, marriage is hard, raising kids is hard, and living in this world holding onto the Gospel is hard. But the things that are difficult are the things that last and are worth the fight. It will always be easy to give up, but you won't find any joy in giving up. A job can replace you in an hour, and you can't take money with you when you die. But to your friends, family, and future children, you are one of a kind and irreplaceable. To your Heavenly Father, you are loved beyond measure. While you're making your preparations, try to focus on the long term and not so much on the minutia of this world. God has a plan for you, all you have to do is trust him. I hope this helps.
The decision on who to marry is not only the most important decision you will ever make, it is so important that all other decisions almost don't matter. This one decision will affect every other decision and every other part of your life and eternity. It is also a decision that is part of our Heavenly Fathers plan and required for your continued growth and progression. So take a lot of time and pray a lot before making the decision. The problem isn't with our society and marriage. The problem is making the wrong decision on who to marry. The problem is if you haven't prepared yourself property for marriage with someone that has equally prepared for marriage as well. Then once the decision is made, continue to stay close to the Lord and progress further helping your family do the same. It is the harder path for sure, but as you well know, it is also the only path that leads to eternal happiness.
I guess you dont want to enter the Celestial kingdom then. Choosing to stay single isn't what the Lord has asked and its basic Church Doctrine that we marry and have a family so we can progress in the eternities. You need much more preparation for your mission if you cant work out that you will not progress without marriage. And how can you even contemplate teaching about eternal families if you dont agree with it!
You make an excellent point. I would note, however, that being a father and husband has ALWAYS been challenging. What’s different in today’s world is that people bail on their marriages and families much more willingly and quickly than people did decades ago. We live in a day of upgrades, skip-the-ads, cancel culture, me me me. I think people have lost the stamina and will to sustain their marriages and family. So if you have something to fear about marriage, it shouldn’t be divorce but the selfishness that leads so many to divorce.
Do some soul searching, take an honest look at yourself and your weaknesses and work on them. When you are dating, ask the hard questions and be open about both of your and her backgrounds/trauma/attitudes to money/debt/goals/parenting. Go to couples therapy with your fiancé to unravel your histories and how they influence and impact the way you relate to each other. It will bring strengthen your bond. Those are just common sense/practical things to take on board. The Gospel and atonement applied will only strengthen you even more.
We are not meant to walk the earth alone. Don’t let the mistakes of others and our jaded society rob you of your potential, destiny and future joy 💛

Racism has always happened, unfortunately. So has mysogyny. It doesn't mean everyone participated in it. Would you rather have a society where everyone chooses their daily path and makes mistakes or one where everyone does every single thing they should but it doesn't mean a thing because they can't help but do what they should? Where's the learning in that society? Where's the actual love? The actual joy? The actual pain to learn? Don't group an entire time and people/nation under the actions of a few, especially from the viewpoint of another's projections.

Jesus told us to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, didn't he? God's Kingdom is a heavenly government ruled by Jesus Christ as King. Soon Jesus will bring beautiful changes to the earth. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow on earth, Revelation 21:4,5! No more wickedness on earth, Psalms 37:9-11! After Armageddon the meek will inherit the earth and live forever on it, Psalms 37:29; Matthew 5:5; Proverbs 2:21,22! The earth will be cultivated into a Paradise like God intended in the beginning, Genesis 1:28; Isaiah 55:11! Jesus will do on a grand scale what he did when he walked the earth including raising those who are asleep in death, John 5:28,29! There will only be one government over the entire earth forever, Daniel 2:44! Jesus said that this good news of the Kingdom would be preached about in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come, Matthew 24:14! Soon Jesus will make sure that God's Will is done on earth as it is in heaven, will you be there to see it? John 4:22-24; John 17:3; Isaiah 42:8!

There are some parallels that may be surmised from mice studies to human studies, but humanity has a much higher consciousness level and has inherited divine attributes that must be developed with the help of the Holy Spirit.
It is too simplistic to conclude a causation parallel from a lack of intact families to societal breakdown. The cause for the breakdown was overcrowding which precluded a sense of security in the mice families. The human family of today has many stressors: economic, unhealthy processed food, toxins in drinking water, a dumbed down education system, corporate greed in politics and lies in the news media and promiscuity in the entertainment media, lack of affordable housing and lack of fair wages and a lack of necessary vacation time, plus commuter stress, etc.
With faith and hope humanity can solve all these problems. One of the first things necessary is to get money out of politics. The richest people on the planet need to be taxed and off shore bank accounts must become illegal. If we want healthy families, we must create a healthy foundation for society.
Oh wow I actually agree with most of what you're saying. As Human beings we are very Complex, and we are under a lot of stressors that go Way far beyond "Good vs Bad" "God vs Satan" explanations to family and societal problems. Poverty, a lack of Food and water, Homelessness, Climatic Environmental Changes, and ofcourse a history of physical and mental abuses towards one another which plagues our History absolutely Contributes to the breakdown or Evolution of society. Which me trying to see it in a more hopeful light I think is the Evolution of our Society rather than a Total Breakdown as it is being proported in this video.

You know I'm a strong LDS Member and this is where I strongly disagree about talking in general about this subject. Look you can decifer what you want to get caught up on as a whole church but my heart is only caught up on positive things that only speak about positive things. You need to realize that God the Eternal Father is not about getting caught up on negative things and you truly need to ask yourself why in the world are you getting caught up on this subject to think that you need to??? I think the real struggle in our general society is what they desire to get caught up on bc of the Father and not bc of the world or anything negative for that matter. Sheesh get only caught up on positive things and not judge anything else.
All is well in zion? I too consider myself a faithful member. But I have been in Law Enforcement for 41 years now and the degradation of society aggravated by the break up of the family unit is a horrible reality. Satan is real and wants families destroyed because he knows they are the foundation of a functioning society. This is the great challenge of our days. This is reality. The Lord didn't send prophets into the world to tell his children what a great job they are doing and everything was fine. He sent them to warn with messages that were less than warm and fuzzy.
