I used to say it takes a village to set up a classroom. I was blessed to have family help me, too. My husband is an accountant, CPA... he says it stands for cut - paste - assemble. 😂
Wow! You have a great principal! If we had been crafting, during a walk through, they would not have been happy lol. We are only allowed to do crafts the last day or two before the holiday break.
Always happy to see your vlogs. My school beastie got me the book, “The World’s Best Class Plant”and a giant Spider plant to go with it. I teach 5th grade all subjects. I read the book to my students then passed out sticky notes for them to pick names. My Special Education teacher tallied up the names and the most names ended up being a girl. One of the special needs students suggested we do a gender reveal and the name. So we did. I thanked her for the brilliant idea. She barely participates so we took full advantage of this. The plant is a girl and her name is Ava! The sixth graders were at the bathroom during the gender reveal. Our one bathroom in the building (upper grades) is by my classroom. At the end of the day the sixth graders (safety patrol) came to congratulate me on having a girl. They thought I was having a baby! lol I was like no that’s for our class plant. I’m 55 lol no more babies for me. It was a fun day though. I just thought I’d share.
Well Katie, For you and your students ... as far as all of this state testing , This too shall pass. Merry Christmas to you and your family and your students !!!! - Dwight
This is going to sound so random, but what other crafty things have you and your bestie done? I have a teacher friend that likes to get together and do crafts, but we never know what to do while we chat and catch up! Haha I hope the rest of your December goes smoothly so you can enjoy the break and start fresh in January!!
Hi Mrs. Katie, Great vlog! Thank you for sharing! Happy belated 30th birthday! I'd like to ask a question. I will graduate with my AA in May. I started college a bit late because I spent my early 20s taking care of my dad while he recovered from major surgery. I will hopefully have graduated with my bachelor's in elementary education in 2026, but by that time I will have already turned 30. I'm wondering if 30 is a bit late to start teaching. I believe most new teachers are 22 or 23.
Would you mind sharing where this list of poems is if you’re able to or just screen shot the poems. Unfortunately my school doesn’t provide what should be covered by the PM assessments and the kiddos had several poetry questions. 😢

Yes I had jitters as well going back after thanksgiving break. When you were in first grade, did you feel more pressure to get the students prepared to read or do you feel more pressure teaching third?

Another great video. Happy belated birthday from your birthday twin. My birthday was the Monday of thanksgiving break. I only wish I was still 30.

Are there students who don’t celebrate Christmas and celebrate another holiday?
Hi. What county are you in? Curious because I’m in FL also and am a brand new teacher. 😊
How are you allowed to have all those Christmas decorations at a public school? That makes no sense to me.
