Social studies teacher here. Have you thought about getting some maps for them to look at and make map keys? You can also use play doh to make some world maps. Then toothpicks to label the continent and oceans.
I always enjoy your videos! Hope you have a wonderful Fall break. We don't get one in Canadian Public schools but winter break is coming in just a few weeks. :)
One thing you can do to keep your board active is play an extremely long mp4 video in the background on mute. Mine is a 7 hour video of background music. Sometimes I take it off mute to listen to the music during independent work time.😃
My grade level had a field trip yesterday and I stayed behind because we had one student that did not go. I managed to get all my papers graded, my lesson plans written for December, and my classroom reset for Christmas 🎄 That means I get to spend my Thanksgiving break relaxing, Black Friday shopping, and spending lots of quality time with my family. 🦃 😌 🛍️🥰 I hope you have an amazing break!!! I really enjoy your channel. 😊
@ It was the student's choice not to go. They were in a very serious car accident earlier this year that resulted in a fatality. The student still has a lot of anxiety about driving long distances. So, they stayed at school and had a fun day. Visited some other classrooms, helped the music teacher, helped me decorate, watched a movie of their choice. It was not a punishment 🙂
I have the same issue with my panel, it turns off when I’m teaching!! I did check the never turn off but it still did it! How is your document camara connected to your panel, I heard you said the app?
That screen locking happened to me at the start of the year with my desktop which obviously mirrors to my screen… I had to change my desktop setting to like 5 hours or so. Sounds like it’s your board setting though. 😕
Well Katie, For a number of kids, school is the only place where they get to be around their friends so it's like see their friends at school or miss them when they are at home and they are boxed in with the family clique if you know what I mean. Also, this whole schooling under penalty of law system has forced kids who are not interested with kids who are interested because kids don't have the freedom of choice that the adults do. They are only having you teach what only someone else wants kids to learn regardless if the kids are or are not interested. Yes, an extra layer of incentives can help but also what will help you more is learning what their interests are and adding them to your inner teacher toolbox if you will even if you have to get their parents in on it. There must always be some sort of tie in between school life and home life otherwise it leaves the monopoly and anxiety of being forced to adjust from home life to school life every morning because otherwise, nothing works. Take it from me a former autistic student who was once predicted to stop learning growing up to wind up marching with My Sr. Class in high school. Keep handling it like a champ. - Dwight

I'm just wondering, why couldn't the student go to the field trip with the others?
