    Hey man, great rolling. But, I see a few problems with your technique. You could be so much better with some simple changes. First and foremost, I saw barely any tickling. Tickling really elevates the experience for both you and your opponent. Second, hair stroking. You came close to stroking a couple of times, but I didn't see any gentle caresses. Every time you come close to a good stroke, it devolves into a frantic pat or tap and that's just bad form. You should also work on vocals, which I find a lot of practitioners ignore completely. This is where you can really let your personality shine through. Have fun with it! Moaning, groaning, growling, and even whispering can all really bring the match to a completely different level. Lightly kissing is a complete necessity that you barely put any thought into. Not too much kissing, don't make it too meaningful. Just a little kiss on the shoulder or top of the head is a really classy way to honor your opponent. An advanced technique is pinching. It's really difficult to work in a playful pinch in the middle of all the fighting. You don't want to hurt someone with your pinch just a tiny bit of pressure with your thumb and forefinger as a sign of respect, but you can wait until after you're a black belt to worry about it. Incorporate these moves and you'll be well on your way to joo jitsu stardom.

    • @ShawnSwander
      @ShawnSwander ปีที่แล้ว

      @Adam Khan A high level wrestler (d1 college) who competed in different rulesets is going to pick things up faster than someone with no experience. I've seen wrestlers winning high level ibjjf black belt tournaments after 3 years of training. A lot of people in a bjj gym lie about their wrestling background. They'll say they wrestled in college but in reality they entered an open tournament while in college or they tried a club team or an intramural tournament which is basically a division that filters out almost every serious wrestler because the best wrestlers are wrestling in the NCAA or the US Open, world team trials, etc. I was a high level NCAA wrestler and yes submissions are something wrestlers lack experience with but a wrestler joining a bjj gym is there to learn that and they know where their weaknesses will be, the get to focus all their time on those weaknesses.

      @vibovitold ปีที่แล้ว +1

      belts only roughly indicate technical level, they're very relative.
      especially young competitors are often underranked, since they progress faster than they get promoted to higher belts.
      some instructors deliberately postpone awarding higher belts to promising talents so that the athlete could develop better and gain more experience.

    • @juliajuanafernandaalvarez1456
      @juliajuanafernandaalvarez1456 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Belts are relevant when you face off opponents who have a similar competition record and experience. If you only train and never or just rarely compete than a lower belt who regular competes can be much better but when you have to similarly experienced fighters the belt does matter.

  • @snap4565
    @snap4565 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Some schools give easy belts. It was much harder to get a BB and the progress to PB 15 years ago , like much harder. The Art been dilluted. Another thing is as a young athletic man competing against different kinds of age groups and athletic levels. Thats why this never happens in wrestling

  • @beavercbearing4237
    @beavercbearing4237 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’ve never been belted but I trained a lot and drilled a lot with some old school rollers who learned off the old Gracie combative Video tapes. Later on I was able to go to an actual jiujitsu dojo to roll. Come to find out I fit right in with the blue belts 😜🥋🙏🏽 y’all stay blessed. And for the record I still have no belts. I am just a man who loves to roll 😁

  • @patricktully1874
    @patricktully1874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is something that happens more than you think speed and athletism with just enough technical skill will beat a mediocre brown or black belt bj penn the great mma fighter was beating black belts as a white belt

  • @cuzza4321
    @cuzza4321 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    When I was 4 stripe white belt I was tapping blues every class and occasionally a purple here and there. But also randomly I'd get tapped by strong guy with only a couple classes experience. I trained 4 days a week, went home and watched a solid 1-2 hours of instructionals a night, then if I had any common issues during my rolls id ask coach personally or make reddit posts for tips and links. Id focus hard on 1 guard or sub a month and aim to be in that spot all the time during open mats etc. After only a month I was stealing taps from other white belts with multiple stripes, after 6 months I was stealing wins off blue belts, after 1 year I was starting to near go 50-50 with blues then I got my blue and got injured and slowed down big time. Point is I'm not even an athlete I'm a skinny asthmatic geek who just studied the positions an hour a night and put in a solid 5-7 hours of mat time a week (which isnt even much) and even I was able to progress past others who started in some cases a whole year or two before me. So its totally plausible to me that other more gifted people than I who put in double/triple/quadruple the time would be able to be stealing wins from part timer purples/browns/blacks with only a year or two training.

    I never realized how insanely complicated and the shere amount of effort and how quick thinking you have to be for this. This is something I could never master in a million years. Cudos for every practitioner not to mention OP. Amazing determination! Super impressive

    • @ExileLuciola
      @ExileLuciola 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are wrong. You most certainly can master this; in about 15 years, if you practice at least 3 times a week and I bet you'd be surprised at how quickly you get 'good' at it.
      Losing is learning, particularly in Jiu Jitsu, you'll get creamed for a long time in the beginning, by everyone, but if you just keep putting in the effort, you'll suddenly start seeing more of the opportunities and threats, and you'll begin to out think your opponents.
      It's been four months since your comment.
      Go look up your local Jiu Jitsu club. It can change your life.
