Very helpful and insightful. I installed Garmin Nuvi 765T on my 2020 Suzuki GSX-S1000F via RAM mount and a 1” to 17 mm ball adapter. Did the silicone waterproofing. The turn by turn navigation routes to my headset via Bluetooth. 12V Power is supplied by a fuse block I previously installed for auxiliary devices ie phone charger, auxiliary lights.

Hey, thanks for the video! I just bought a used 2595LMT at your recommendation for 30 bucks. no 2555 was offered.. so far I tested the touch screen with motorcycle gloves and it works! Next will be a test drive to make sure if it will pick up engine interference or not.. the weather is bad here and that will have to wait a bit.

As long as it was at (or close to) $30 USD and in decent condition, that is what it's worth and you didn't overpay.

I have just mounted one on my bike and the power socket is mounted inside my bike seat.

If you have a bluetooth communicator for motorcycling, the Nuvi 765 and 775 might still be an option. Garmin screwed up and both those models could be connected to a headset. I've used both a 765 and 775 with an older Sena SMH10R for turn by turn directions straight to the helmet.

Doable but not recommended because it's a giant annoyance to update the maps on one of those. The 7x5 models are from 2008, and file system limitations means a map data image gmapprom.img internally of under 1GB, and a gmapsupp.img on a memory card. The 7x5 by design won't recognize multiple map image files outside of those 2 files. You max out at about 2 to 3GB of map data.
Basically, what this means is modern map image data files from openmapchest.org will absolutely work on the 7x5, but there's a catch. Because of system limitations, only one gmapsupp.img on a memory card can be used.
The 2455/2495/2555/2595 models were released in 2011 and added in multiple map image file support. You can stuff a 32GB microSD in one and put on as many map images as you want.
The nuvi 7x5 is doable but your main obstacle is the map updating.
