Thank you everyone for stopping by! This is one of my earlier videos, and I haven't really covered any ARPG's lately, but if you'd like to see more content like this, let me know. Season 4 of Diablo IV is coming soon and I was thinking of seeing if it's improved since season 1, let me know down below!
This was my favorite RPG for a while. Played it with my wife. She got more addicted to it that I did. She used an Embermage focused on prismatic bolt and fire pillar. I was the engineer with the forcefield and heal bot. Ahh the good old days. My new favorite game is Grim Dawn. Still hold up to this day. If you haven't tried it, I recommend that game.
grim dawn is far, far better than TL2. i was playing TL2 last night and it's sooooo slow and the skills are soooo limited and the gear is soooo boring@@JarboeGaming
Extrachunky and Endless mod kills Grim Dawn very easy.Dungeons and Maps are bigger and very very well randomly generated.TL2 with mods is Harder than,d1,d2,d3,D4,grimm Dawn, Poe. etc.
Agree for sure. Art styles done this way can be more beautiful, in my opion, them something with ultra realistic graphics. Just look at Sea of Thieves, LOZ: Wind Waker, etc.
yeah, I remember playing this legend game on my super low end pc and was amazed how they managed to put so much into such a great game. I really commend the developers for this masterpiece
I got the game for free years ago, both in Steam and Epic. Tried it back in the day and got bored, don't know why. Recently I decided to play the first one, and after beating it in two days I inmediately installed the second one and boy am I ejnyoing it. About to finish my first NG+ alerady. Everything you say in the video is exactly what makes me love this game, even tho I was never big on Diablo and the likes. I will try modding it soon, since there are a lot of great changes and additions in the steam workshop, with mod support and a mod manager built into the launcher! Truly a gem of a game.
Travis Baldree was the the designer of Torchlight 2, the producer for the first Torchlight and its spiritual predecessor, a game called Fate. Travis still does a lot of indie game stuff, but lately has become a fantastic audiobook narrator, and was spectacular in narrating the Cradle series by Will Wight.
I'm 127hrs deep in Torchlight II. Just picked it up on my Switch as well. I played this through with ab old friend with an Embermage who is a new game ++ character. Loved this game so much
Someone may of said it, you may already know but there is an official mod from Runic that adds a respec potion. Unfortunately it only respecs skill points, not attributes. The best thing about Torchlight 2 for me is the pet system. It's a constant companion, can be built how you like via spells and gear (limited, yes but still an option). It even does your shopping! The only downside is that bosses like in most ARPG's auto focus on you, so they become an unreliable tank so I ether build them as support or damage.
Torchlight 1 and 2 were my personal favorites when I was a kid. I play berserker and outlander. Sad to see what happened to the recent Torchlight games.
Yeah Infinite was an instant turn off for me, if the UI was reworked on PC it would be more bearable, but it's just to much like a mobile game on desktop.
I love how the game was like "you know how every RPG likes item farming, yeah lets take rid of it and just make them play the game instead of spamming one boss" that's the most refreshing thing I've seen over the years. It is not ideal, since you can't quite force a build you wanna try, but that's what makes torchlight a casual brain off kind of arpg.
I was a long time fan and player of Diablo until the 4th installment. While I liked the darker tone and feel of the environment, I was overwhelmed by the difficulty scaling from 3 to 4. I simply got to frustrated and quit. Recently I went in search of a new dungeon crawler and was pleasantly sprinted to find so many top 10 and top 25 lists on you tube; however many lists had many of the same games and most of them did not specify for witch platforms. After digging for a few hours through tones of review videos my list grew smaller and smaller till I was down to only a few games. Most of the games I was very interested in playing were not on console or only on X BOX. The choice was almost made for me Torchlight II. It’s kind of funny my search began with the internet to find a Diablo-like game. I had no idea Torchlight was made by a co-creator of Diablo. This game is everything a casual dungeon crawler player wants and needs out of a game of its kind. Everything said here in this video is well said and realized in playing Torchlight II. This game is A MUST PLAY for anyone who likes playing single player like Boulders Gate, or online like Diablo. There is a physical copy of the game for Switch and PS4, but I am finding it difficult to find.
I love torchlight 2, I have it on switch and it's awesome. The guns feel awesome. So good that I ended up mostly using them more than anything else. (I mostly use the berserker with a pistol and melee weapon in loadout 1, and a shotgun in loadout 2)
Just found out about this game tonight and found it on Steam for under 4 bucks. I wasn't sure about it, but I'll definitely pick it up now. Thanks for the review!
I finished Torchlight 1 and it was pretty fun. I bought Torchlight 2 and played for about an hour, but didn't give it a playthrough. I think I'll give it another shot.
I have been playing a ton of it lately. With mods, I have 44 toons! I really enjoy it. The more I play it, the more subtle things I enjoy as I learn small nuances to the game. I am a huge fan.
with mods this game is honestly amazing even now. i honestly think the limit of only being able to install 10 mods at a time held back this game so much. The most popular 2 mods (essentials and synergies) can take up to five frigging slots if you wanna install addons and the compatibility patch. if you want more you will have to merge them yourself, which most players wont have the time to. One other thing it lacks is the ability to dual class like in grim dawn. cuz no matter which modded class you use the number of abilities available throughout a run is still limited.
I bought this back on January 21, 2013. I just recently re-installed it to go another round at it with some mods that I newly installed. I loved this game back then and I still love it today. Torchlight 1 and 2 were pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I couldn't really get into Torchlight 3. Maybe I'll give it more of a chance in the future. But, 2 is definitely my current favorite of the Torchlight Trilogy.
You can only say Diablo Clone about this game if you play it without mods. But once the right mod list is loaded it easily surpasses Poe, Grim Dawn and whatever they are called and in Synergy the endgame dungeon of Hellgate London comes into its own. For me personally it will always be the best Arpg, thank you again!
Love your video man I Just downloaded torchlight 2 last night because of your video love it Edit- i wish and pray that you reach 100k by the end of this year ❤
dont forget pets can learn some spells, but they can just activate it when in combat or when enough mana. so i let my pet learn some support skills or summoning skills
Its called an animated art style, and animated games age much better than realistic games, realistic games remain stuck in their generation while animated games are timeless, yea realistic games are great now and they often require high end hardware to play but as soon as a new generation of games comes those same realistic games start to age much faster than animated games, which is why ive always been a performance over quality gamer, its much more important for me that a game runs well, the graphic fidelity is far less important, and usually only casuals who only play AAA games care about graphic fidelity, a lot of modern gamers confuse graphics with art style, graphics have more to do with fidelity and textures, while the art style is how the game actually looks, i feel like monster hunter rise will age much better than world because of its more animated art style, and because i dont put too much stock into graphic fidelity, the graphics of world dont really do much for me, im more more interested in how smooth the game is to play and how fluid it feels, its very important for me that games dont feel clunky or slow, ive always preferred fast paced games over realistic games, imo realism has no place in video games, we play games to escape reality, i want to be able to do things i cant do irl so games like elden ring and monster hunter world just end up feeling clunky and slow, it makes me feel tired and bored, i definitely prefer games like monster hunter rise and rise of the ronin
I was a long-time member of the Runic Games forum and involved in the friends & family alpha & beta testing for this game. I've been friends with Max, Erich, Travis, and a bunch of the devs since 2010 and I can tell you from personal experience that Runic put their hearts and a ton of effort into this game. They always did their best to listen to player feedback, and I don't think I've ever seen a community so involved in crafting what remains my all-time favorite arpg. It's a shame what happened to Runic and the IP. Max & Echtra tried their best with Torchlight 3 but sometimes no matter how hard you try things just don't work out. I haven't played the latest iteration of the franchise but i don't really need to as this game still rocks. There's a ton of great mods for it out there, too. I'm biased, though-I have a bunch of items named after me in the game (Zidders Flitters, Zidders Boots of the Roo, and the Zidder crown, along with the Coif and Gloves of the Ember Adventurers which were named after my forum guild, The Ember Adventurers Club). :)
Salvage my laptop from collage time, my late mother told me to sell that piece of junk . but its a memory to be hold . once i restore its original function , found out my old games . including warcraft and starcraft . along with those oldies counterstrike and GTA collection . damn i played it now more than ever

First PC game I played after World of Warcraft. Still holds up excellent. Booting it up is like sending myself back to the 10th grade, like a warm welcome home to better times. Will have to pickup on Switch at some point.
the end game on this is insane. the set builds with unique items wherever you could fit made some godly auto proc chaos. I went up 4 or 5 difficulties, kind of like into nightmare 3 but not sure how high this game went... might have to give it another run, annoying there is no respec on PC though
Its definitely better than D4 in terms of Leveling Experience and itemization. + Customization still awesome albeit not that "deep" + Combat and movement feels great + Story line & Telling pretty good (sunday cartoon way) - some skills feels dated - no modern feature (respec or season). It does have mods. Easy recommend for ARPG (diablo clone) lovers
This game is just like fate, even the announcer dude has the same voice, and all the game mechanics are the same but just improved upon 💀💀 the pet system for instance is straight from Fate
If torchlight 3 would of just modernized TL2 it wouldnt of failed miserably. I recently bought it for $8cad and can say it was a waste of $8.... it plays like a mobile game. TL2 was so freaking good.
A lot of the game mechanics that you thought were new and novel are originally from the FATE (2005) games (4) Fishing, pet that you can send to town, Fame system , the way that spells work and even some sound effects, there was one guy that went from the fate team to torchlight 1 and 2. the Torchlight games 1&2, are the new FATE games we never got not a sequel to Diablo 2. if you play FATE you will get what i mean.
Will I have a hard time playing this if I never played this type of game before? I'm into fps mostly but this has great reviews and looks fun so I picked it up for cheap
I did a modded run of Torchlight 2 when Diablo 4 released, and my game crashed so bad during end game that not even the unmodded launcher will load anymore - full reinstall to fix. My college friend group put some major hours in here. I prefer it wholesale to Diablo 3
It's made by an experienced team, most of them worked on Diablo 1 and 2, but left Blizzard because they didn't like the direction of the company. Diablo III was made by many new hires, so this game is technically the true spiritual successor even if it's not quite as dark as D2.
OBVS this game is awesome this and grim dawn! are top maybe there others to.... titan quest is cool to because of the setting but i prefer the others! torchlight 1 WAS good to! xD but not so replayable
honestly the game doesn't run that well on modern hardware though. it was designed for single core processors. in really big fights i dip to like 45 fps sometimes
please help = does my forcefield bubble count as a shield that would at physical damage to my strength level from the skill sword and board … pleaze help meh…
I'm sorry friend, I didn't really discuss end game stuff, was more focused on describing what stood out to me after giving it a try recently. The panda is an awesome pet companion though, so he shouldn't be sad!
It so silly that they have a respec potion for console and not pc. Maybe they thought since there is mods for it that they don't need to but if that is so that's a lil lazy in my opinion cuz you shouldn't rely on modders to fix yur problems.
How do people enjoy this? The only ARPG I could get into is Path of Exile. I've tried Grim Dawn, and Torchlight 1 and they all feel so slow and sluggish, while the enemies outscale you so badly by the end to the point where I'm left chugging potions and running out of money to buy more
@@markusk3015 To be fair Torchlight 1 was done in only 9 months and was meant to get the bad taste of Flagship's collapse out of the devs mouths. They never imagined it would take off like it did which is why they did their best to make Torchlight 2 so much better.
@@ZiddersRooFurry not true, this game isnt optimized for modern pc hardware thats why it stutters and runs bad. First of this game is 32bit programm instead of 64bit, this limits the game from using all the recources of your pc like ram, i think it can only use 2 or 4gb of ram bc of this. The second problem with this old game is that it uses dx9, games that use dx9 have most of the time bad performance and stutter problems.

In my opinion T2 graphic not cartoonist but more colorful fantasy something that I miss now days coz how realistic everything.

Play with extrachunky and you have everday a update without runic Games.Extrachunky Kills all Arpg very easy.😊
Grim Dawn is fucking boring!
How many hours in GD?🤗
I bought it today for 3,99 🤩
A steal!
@@JarboeGaming that are 20 hours for each Cent. I think its worth 🤣
Can I play this completely offline?
Yes you can!
@@JarboeGaming sweet! As a traveler, i don't always have wifi to start up games. So this works.
OBVS this game is awesome this and grim dawn! are top maybe there others to.... titan quest is cool to because of the setting but i prefer the others! torchlight 1 WAS good to! xD but not so replayable
This Game have the best nightmaps compared to poe, diablo, Grimdawn❤
try out The Slormancer ;)
"What are your thoughts on TL2 ?" * looks at 223 hours play time on steam * ....... "i guess its good to pass time "
My new mage does almost 40,000,000 damage and will probably go a little higher.
For me the most annoying thing in T2 is the range at which the monsters are rendered
respec is a potion you farm
where i can download for free on my laptop?
It's currently 80% off on gog, currently 3.79 euros, and it frequently goes on sale.
honestly the game doesn't run that well on modern hardware though. it was designed for single core processors. in really big fights i dip to like 45 fps sometimes
With AMD CPU and GPU have U very nice FPS.😂
did you try to run this game with dxvk? it runs much better with it and is more stable works also on other games like borderlands 2.
@@baumapfel4463 oh yeah how would i go about that?
did you use dxvk? if yes did it help you?
@@baumapfel4463 i dont really understand how to did you follow a guide?
please help = does my forcefield bubble count as a shield that would at physical damage to my strength level from the skill sword and board …
pleaze help meh…
Oh, it is about the old Torchlight. Damn why are the sequels just so bad nowdays that ppl rather still play the 10+ year old prequels instead.
T2 was underrated
Psion ist my favourite class in Synergy ❤(Ice,Electro build)
I hate how I can't tell what is going on in a fight in Diablo 4.
3k hours of Play with Mods™
👏
You forgot to mention new game plus... and now my panda is sad...
I'm sorry friend, I didn't really discuss end game stuff, was more focused on describing what stood out to me after giving it a try recently. The panda is an awesome pet companion though, so he shouldn't be sad!
Best game with mods and kill easy all arpg on Steam 😂
It so silly that they have a respec potion for console and not pc. Maybe they thought since there is mods for it that they don't need to but if that is so that's a lil lazy in my opinion cuz you shouldn't rely on modders to fix yur problems.
How do people enjoy this? The only ARPG I could get into is Path of Exile. I've tried Grim Dawn, and Torchlight 1 and they all feel so slow and sluggish, while the enemies outscale you so badly by the end to the point where I'm left chugging potions and running out of money to buy more
Very Bad build in TL1😁
@@markusk3015 To be fair Torchlight 1 was done in only 9 months and was meant to get the bad taste of Flagship's collapse out of the devs mouths. They never imagined it would take off like it did which is why they did their best to make Torchlight 2 so much better.
How to download for free?
On Steam?
It goes on sale now and then.
the performance is trash for modern pc in this game. the only way to play this game with stable fps is with dxvk.
Or Steamdeck]
It's only trash if you have a trash system. This game can run on a potato.
@@baumapfel4463 I've never seen that many people with performance issues.
gemz do stack whatz wrong with u … somebody tell thiz man howww gemz stack plz…
They don't unless you're using a mod.
