A real HAPPY 60th Birthday to Mr. Alvin Youngblood Hart and really ALL the best to him ... (2023-0302)
Alvin is so authentic in his playing and singing, a joy to see.
Mr T just blew my mind on guitar!
Your fret board must be this worn, to play Mr Charley, Bravo. The voice fills are spot on
I see and hear what years and years of practice have produced. Great performance! Thanks!
I cannot wait to see you one day.
I saw this guy play the Philly Folk Fest about 12 or 13 years ago, & he totally blew me away. He is unbelieveable live.
I saw him live with Dr. John, Charlie Musselwhite and Robert Jr. Lockwood a few years back in Toronto. He quickly became one of my favourites.
love all that string snapping
This some of the best blues I've ever heard, righteous and REAL - a treasure-trove of the blues (thanks!)...
What an incredible performer he really plays this style with all ingredients to make it real and funky
The only time I got to see this smokin' guitarist was at Blues Unplugged In Long Beach, CA with Big Jay MacShann, Floyd Dixon and Honeyboy Edwards. He was so modest he said to the crowd, "What am I doing here? Look who I'm sharing the stage with." Paraphrased slightly. Well the crowd wasn't thinking that because he blew us away with his raw technical prowess. Mmmmm!
what a great voice
He is simply amazing! Love the guy🔥
I had this arranged in open D but after finding this version I cant play that version.. lol.. fabulous to have this.
AYH is easily one the most under rated musicians out there. I saw him at The Horseshoe in Toronto in a spur of the moment thing to do. Didn't know hin before then. Man, what a treat that was!
Fucking fantastic version of an immensely difficult number to play.
Love listenin' ta'ya Alvin!
music really does make the world a better place! jps bk
Absolutely amazing.
awesome talent
I love your jams my friend:) It's cool to hear some Patton too.where the crossroads got notoriety:)
Great cover. You put your own unique spin on a classic.
Love the Bill Russel double action capo! You can lose a finger trying to use one. Haven't seen one of those since HS.
i love your style bro
Ha! Y'all are hilarious. At :49, a friend of mine who was on the front row opened a beer and got a nice little surprise.
I wondered what that spray was🤣🤣🤣
Love it.
Awesome blues
Wow love it
that is so funky i can smell i will see at the monmouth bluesfest 2013
AYH certainly has the voice and guitar chops to pull off this stuff.
dont missunderstand me! i came here just looking for a brony musician, mixing the words "blues" and "ponies together, and here i am! enjoying a really good blues, and i dont have nothing else to say, glad im here :)
october666w shut the fuck up now
I came here because Charley Patton is what Howlin Wolf got inspired by, who also inspired Rolling Stones. But became fan of Howlin Wolf, just love the energy in his music. Charley Patton is also not bad himself
...There's a lot to be said for Authentic,,, Raw, in it's essence...True to his aim... Play On Brother,,,
This man makes it look so easy playing and singing a song so famously difficult.
The only way this could have been even better would have been if he had incorporated some of Charley's signature slaps, taps, and stomps from the original, but it's understandable why he didn't.
If anyone knows of a better video than this on TH-cam, please tell me. I've got to see it
This Is the Real Deal Here
Howlin wolf ftw! But great energy in these types of music
great! I believe Charlie Patton would be proud of you.
My grandma's people are from Natchez.
he got his MoJo workin for sure !!!
0:48 ring tab spray display !!!!
what the hell is his guitar tuned to? It's awesome!
Great performance and gorgeous parlour guitar! Is it a Santa Cruz ?
@tinpanalley67
so really, what do you think that was?
@slashLima
hahahahaah I was gonna make a comment but you beat me to it!!!! so funny
@WelfareChrist Uhhh, u serious? its standard tuning with a capo on first fret.
You know, you could have maybe told that cat how he could have figured it out. Like pointing out how his fingers are positioned in a position that might translate into, "he's grabbing a major triad here.... And you can tell that because he's not barring across the d g and b strings but rather fretting along x y and z frets as one might in standard." Granted, that's a lot of extra typing, and maybe he has to learn that for himself, as many of us have... But, you know, sometimes it's good to help your brother along the way now and then.
Everything I ever learned that was formative or foundational came from someone who was willing to take the time, even if only to shut me up for a bit.
Hey I also practice this all the time!
Sunrise pick up?
What the hell is wrong with cameramen? Don't you, any of you, ever, understand that we would like to see his hands? We can get the best tips on how to play this stuff... IF we can see his hands. What part of that is difficult for you?
Is it just standard tuning??...awsome playing
yep, but with capo on 1st fret.
yes its standard tuning but as you can see he has a kappo on the neck on the 1st fret so its 1 octave higher
@ one semi tone. An octave is 12 semi tones
Playing slide - without a slide.........
oké
What guitar is that? Old-school Parlour guitar?
Charley Patton played a Stella, and this is a very similar guitar. Possibly a replica of a Stella, probably ladder-braced instead of cross-braced in construction, which supposedly provides more volume. Amazing that Patton could be heard in a dance hall with such a small bodied guitar.
Needs to relax on the high e string a bit
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'll relay your tip to him. I'm sure he'll be happy to know you are trying to help him out.
Jesus...
