- If your file icon is not showing correctly, this video is for you. This happens when you change the default Open With Program. Just follow the steps shown in this video. You are good to go. Hope this video would help you guys.

I accidentally clicked "open with" when I was messing with the windows cursors, I'm panicked as soon as the icons changed. I decided to search "file icons changed after clicking open with" and then ended up in this video. Wow. Such a helpful video 👍

I opened a .json file in notepad while expermineting. Now even after following this procedure and deleteing the USERCHOICE and other format in the default folder also it doesnt seem to work. The icon of .json files still reflects as notepad. I'm helpless. Pls guide!

Hello, what should I do if, when opening a file, they ask which program to open it and if I select the right one, then the icons will be broken again.
Yes. If you are selecting the right app, it is okay it go with that app icon. However, if you are choosing another app just to open the file temporarily, do not check/tick the "Always use this app to open...." so that your file icon won't change.
@@SirChogyal ik this video was made a while ago but when i was opening a file i accidently pressed word and always use so whenever i try to download it again it always downloads it as a word file, can u make a fix to reset the always open with word

Pls help!! This is not working for me. I mistakenly open a .sas file with adobe and the icon changed from .sas to .pdf and I need to change it back. I followed the instruction in the video and it still didn't work for me. HELP!

i tried to do this for a file called a RAR file because i accidentally made it a file to open with my browser (opera gx) and i cant change it back please help
Right click and choose "open with" with RAR application or RAR file exe.
Thanks so much I was messing around with a dll file then tried opening it with winrar and after that I done always use this program to open a dll file and it looked really weird. Again thanks so much it helped a lot!

My problem is with EPUB file formate, I did exactly as you did but couldn't fix it, one thing bothers me is the "User's Choices", no matter how many times I delete it, it comes back again when I retry this method I find this file again.
In my case Inside UserChoice, I found:
(Default), Hash, Progld.
I too couldn't delete any one of them. So I recommend you to take a look inside your UserChoice and find out if there are any files that can be deleted from the UserChoice and then complete the process. Let me know your story. I will get back to you soon.

I have a problem. I accidentally changed my .7z files to open on notepad how do i reset it????
Right-click on the 7z file.
Select "Open With" and then "Choose another app"
Select "7-Zip" (or another program that can open 7z files) from the list of options.
Check the box that says "Always use this app to open .7z files" Click "OK"
You can also try to change the default program for .7z files by going to Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Associations and look for .7z files and change it to 7-zip or the program you want to open it with.
@Sir Chogyal : I'm scared Mr. Sir Chogyal i too accidently changed a .CAP files to open with Notepad and i can find the Defaulted program to open as a .CAP file guess i am scared to Delete things ? the cap file came in a zip file i downloaded inside is the Bios cap file to update Bios to Latest version i just wanted to be in its default form, i will do ur method, but when i looked up .cap only shows the 2 folders the : OpenWithList and OpenWithProgids does not have the UsersChoice folder would it matter?

No i have a file “.cs” i did the exactly same things as you dit but in .cs and don t work and in .css i don t have anything
You can download any application. For example, I use Everything from voidtools which is ready to use after download. Right-click on your .cs file and go to Properties. Make Everything the default OpenWith application by browsing from your PC. Move the application, Everything to a different location or delete the application, Everything. Now go to Task Manager. Right-click on Windows Explorer and click on restart.

You may use WinZip to open your jar file. You can also use WinRAR or 7-Zip.
