I watched the Indian tennis ball factory yesterday and was amazed by how much hands on work was used , then you come here and see the flip side of modern day manufacturing . Both come out with a pretty much identical product . Interesting stuff 👍
Not identical products. That small factory balls easily split, i have experienced. Then we have to keep buying again and again. They are cheap but at the end consumer pay more. It is waste of money and resources.
These balls are more likely to all bounce the same height and direction when you drop them though. Far more efficient and detailed process here and for pro tennis not amateur cricket.
The manufacturing of these tennis balls is longer than the ball lasts😂 (especially in gully cricket, it oftenly gets lost.) This just reminds me of childhood days where we used to contribute in an uneven proportion to play cricket.

We used to play with Captain tennis ball.. because it was much heavier than Headley tennis balls. Goodshot balls used to be lighter and easy to play box matches.
It wasn't until 1972 that the International Tennis Federation introduced yellow tennis balls into the official rules of the game. The reason for the change was because the yellow color of the balls made the ball more visible to viewers watching the game on TV.
Here in south part of India we used to play two kind of tennis ball for cricket light tennis ball and hard tennis ball. The brand called Guru, Vikky, Willson, chellson, Sixit.. Etc And it cost around 60-85INR (around$1)
@Time Machine yea i also used to play cosco balls. But right now it's not that much popular here in kerala. I'm a big fan of hard tennis cricket (Guru ball)
Its kinda stupid the fact that they insist on white balls (wich reduces rubber quality) to then cover them with green textil (instead of painting them with fiber composite)...this production structure is full of mistakes , besides being old (despite the new machinery).
Three hundred million balls are either dumped or burned each and every year. Tennis had better be abolished unless they come up with recyclable ones. What a shame indeed 😔
I think Pringles original intention was to make tennis balls. On the day the rubber was supposed to show up a truckload of potatoes arrived, and they were like “Fuck it, cut em up!”.
Sto seguendo il torneo di Madrid su terra rossa. Su questo campo le palle verdi praticamente non si vedono, perché non torniamo alla pallina bianca? Le righe del campo sono bianche si vedono benissimo
