is the risk of bears high in those hiking areas by Canmore? Was thinking of staying there for a night before heading back to the airport

The bears are definitely around, they tend to move up higher at this time of year. If you make noise and carry bear spray you should be ok. The valley is really busy with people hiking, so pick a popular trail and there will be lots of people around

@@websitesbyali5383make sure to book a spot on the Moraine Lake bus in advance. You can no longer drive your vehicle to the lake. Hiking on some of the trails around moraine lake also require parties of 4 or more for bear safety
