London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. It would be a good start in your musical exploration, to familiarize yourself with the 3 eras of the band.

My first thought was that this woman has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard, and after watching the performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013, I was hooked. They are a wonderful band whose rabbit hole goes deep. Stick with them. They never disappoint.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Sounds like the music audio is being picked via her microphone only and it also has some over-active background noise-mute going on, it is not ideal. Feeding the music directly into the video recording application is usually the best way.
Nightwish don't do regular straightforward lyrics - if you want to follow along bring the lyrics up on your phone. Good job though.
