I live locally and remember when talk of pike attacking trout being played by anglers was just legend and it's great to see that they are actually being caught in decent numbers now. The peaty water gives them a beautiful coloration.
@@TheIllustratedAngler 100% - the pike people are catching now all seem to be roughly the same size but they will grow well in there due to all the silver fish and trout for them to feed on. I live further downstream so it would be good to see the occasional pike in the river. They would help clear up some of the goosanders - I saw one with 14 chicks this year.
They are never “full” at that particularly Reservoir as they have to be able to accommodate extra water in extreme weather conditions. But it certainly has been exacerbated by the super dry start to the year we had.
I won’t buddy I’m afraid. There is a few getting caught though. From the south side of the dam, up the dam wall to the tower. And along the south bank towards Pow Hill.

Doesn’t it just. With such a rich water, I can see there being some VERY big fish in there in the next few years.

Standard pike ticket is £10 I think but if you wanna go smaller lures and use a trout 5 or 8 ticket you're looking at £25 and £30
Interesting fishing..always great to try a new place... lovely fish...bad luck loosing that big one...bad hook quality...good place...
Now then just wondering if you can use dead baits at derwent res or is it lures only?
Both are fine mate. Deads just have to be Sea deadbaits. No coarse species allowed. 🤙🏻🎣
@@TheIllustratedAngler sound mate, got a freezer full off smelt and lamprey. Cheers 👍
@@TheIllustratedAngler sorry i forgot too mention is it full of crayfish?
Unlucky on that second fish mate. Looks like water levels still not back up to normal or is that the 'norm' now?

Coming up tomorrow after watching this hoping to bag a pike, will you be there tomorrow for a chat?
