It's a team game. It always has been, always will be. Jokic is not doing it alone. Six players scored in double figures. Jokic can't play defense alone, either. One bad apple has ruined many, many teams. Look at Milwaukee right now. Look at the 76'ers. Hell, look at LA and Dallas. They've got stars a-plenty, and they struggle. It takes more than talent to win. It takes chemistry, attitude, and coaching.

Hey Ryan, I went back and did some accounting. And what are you calling stagger minutes, just when Jokic is off? 8 minutes together, and maybe 2 shots that MPJ should have taken over Russ? Q1 Russ enters 3:24 Braun missed a 3, Jokic mid(Russ Assist), MPJ out at 2:24.[No shots to give to MPJ, 1 minute] Q2 Kyrie to start on MPJ, on his hip, Porter begins off ball movement more. Good shot from Porter, Westbrook turnover, Russ to Nnaji in the paint +Fouled, Strawther made a 3, then Russ missed a transition layup. 8:47 Jamal for MPJ.[1 maybe 2 shots to give to MPJ? 3:13 together] 3rd Didn't play together. 4th Kyrie on MPJ to start, no more off ball movement from MPJ, watching a lot so how do you get him the ball? Strawther illegal moving screen turnover, Murray 3(MPJ assist), Westbrook missed midrange, Nnaji missed 3 3.6s left in clock Murray dribbled too much, Strawther drive slipped and missed from FT line, Russ missed mid, Nnaji dunk(Russ assist), Murray 3(Russ Assist), MPJ drive to Russ and missed layup, Murray mid(Assist Jokic). Watson for MPJ at 7:07.[Porter covered well, no extra shots available and Mike was standing around, 5m together] They changed their defense as they went along, Kyrie and Hardy played him close in the 4th. And I agree with Matt, MPJ cannot drive he is not 6-11 KD because doesn't have KDs handles. Ryan you need to really not make claims that dont exist, and you doubled down when Matt questioned you so I had to do the accounting.
I am old. I watched George Mikan play with the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1940s. and all the great players since then. The greatest athlete, Wilt Chamberlain. The greatest player, Nikola Jokic. (Oscar Robertson second) Jokic continues to improve. If he wished to be just a scorer, he could average 40 for the season.
Aaron Gordon should only play backup C during the playoffs. Matt is right, if Murray actually steps up. Then the backup C position wouldn't be a problem
Dude has lost his fire since winning. That's why I was happy about russ. He's gonna go for it like a dog, just like murray should, and I don't think it's a coincidence murray went off the game after russ dropped 30. If he gets the right attitude, he's genuinely amazing at scoring, and it makes us unstoppable. Him and AG being on top of their game with Jok is literally fucking terrifying when it's all clickin
@tonyl9636 I hate how Jamal plays like he's too cool for school. It's like he thinks he's Jokic who can be great whenever he needs to be. I've never been mad at a Nugget until Jamal
@youngmelo1841 Well, it's a little weird that you've never been mad. We were terrible for literal decades save for a few seasons and had many annoying players. Regardless, you're kind of right. Some real armchair psychology, but I'd say it's pretty fucking textbook. He's insecure and covers it up with an inflated ego, gets really defensive every time someone challenges his skill. He's probably terrified of failure. The way he acts is actually incredibly common. People do it all the time in all aspects of their lives. Honestly, since his father basically forced him to do nothing but basketball for his entire childhood, it'd be a little weird if he didn't have some fucked up relationship with the sport. I think he loves it, though. Whatever his issue is, it can probably be fixed with a sports psychologist. However, we live in a country that literally worships wealth, he has immense wealth, and that means he can do whatever he wants and most people are just going to tell him what he wants to hear. And that's why I reiterate the value of the russ trade. He's also incredibly wealthy, and he don't give a fuck. I have no doubt he will call jamal out at some point this season if he acts like a diva, I just hope he responds to it well. But I think he will. He's always done great when people shit talk him, some people just do better when you push them a little
I'm not lying, Jokic is probably the best basketball player I've ever seen. I'm 30, I never saw Jordan or Kobe in their prime. A little Kobe, but not much
I saw a lot of kobe in his prime, I lived in LA during his 2nd round of championships. He was great but in my opinion highly overrated amd nowhere close to as dominant on a nightly basis as jokic
Have to disagree with Matt. They can definitely force the issue for MPJ to get more shots. All teams do it if a player is hot. Personally, I believe Denver beats Minnesota last year regardless of what happens had they just let MPJ get more iso opportunties with Conley checking. I understand they usually want to take the best shot but sometimes you just have to attack mismatches and play traditional 2000s basketball.
Why not put mpj to play a backup center I mean he's 6 10 just teach the guy to be a rim protector and a rebounder. He only really has to score when he's with the starting five.
I can think of multiple back surgeries and actually paying attention to him starting to hold his back at times to say why it's a bad idea, but sure go ahead and put in him the paint getting elbowed in the back.
Well if you have watched MPJ play at all through the past 5+ years, you can see he never posts up in the paint. He’s had 3 back surgeries and he’s had to adjust his game for that. Having him play center even just defensively is a high risk move that I’d rather nuggets never actually do. They need to get someone else for that.
Not manufactured at all. In order for MPJ to get plays, someone ELSE has to give him the ball. Murray is not going to give up his shots. And Russ doesn't look for him.
