Sintang Damar Apriliastyo beda focal length sih, jd gak bisa dibandingin secara langsung sebenarnya. tapi kalo bener2 ingin dibandingin menurut saya mereka sama2 tajam
Possibly my favorite lens ever. I have L-Series glass but this little lens is so versatile and turns the EOS-M into a DSLR-Quality compact camera. Amazing.
I've had this lens since 2018 on my m100. It's seriously good. In terms of image quality, quite comparable to my massive Sigma 17-50 mm F2.8 which is a great lens. This lens is also way sharper than the Canon 50mm f1.8 no matter what aperture the 50mm is using. Sharpness, Contrast and Color rendition are very good! The focal length is extremely useful
Thanks Chris for your always relevant tests. I don't regret following your recommendations for purchasing this little 22mm f2 lens. Marvelous optical quality, compactness, that lens fits best into the philosophy of the EOS M6 camera.
I've had this lens since almost 2 years on the original eos-m body which is even smaller. Both got at a high discounted value. Lens was under 80 dollars new. Its a very versatile combination as it can function as a semi macro and a medium wide at the same time. If one works manually the eos-m offers excellent optical quality with almost any lens I've put on. i've kept the camera though I also now have the sony a7r. They complement each other well and in different ways
I love the 22mm lens. Really the only thing I'd want to change is to add IS (which would most likely add lens elements and therefore size). I found myself reaching for it way more often than the other lenses when traveling with my M. It's even better now that I upgraded to the M3.
I bought an old eos m with the 22mm stm and some other accesooires a couple of days ago for about 200 euros. So far I'm very happy, value for money seems unbeatable. Size and image quality was the main criteria and I can't think of any other aps-c camera which is so small and has such a fast pancake lens.
Hey Chris, I've bought this lens after your recommendation. Now, I use it for 1.5 year. This is a really fantastic lens, my best, I love it, thank you so much for your great video(s) 🙏 I also subscribed, obviously.
I have an old Canon 20D and was looking for something under 24mm and came upon this little charmer! But I did no know what the M stood for. I am so glad I found out that it would not work on my 20D. Mirrorless cameras sound very interesting. I might give that a try for my next camera......
Best lens for this system, bright and lightweight, affordable, quite wide angle, small and well made. And that's macro lens, with good bokeh. My favorite lens so far. Autofocus is much better than in the kit 15-45mm. Highly recommended :p
In a completly random moment in the middle of my day I though "WAIT! Christopher Frost has a Canon Mirrorles Camera like mine!" I should write him and tell that it would be great to see some EF-M lens videos, apart of the ussual EF and EF-S series... First thing I saw when i type your name: 22 EF-M Review. The very next lens I want to buy. THANK YOU SIR!
Finally bought my first "real" camera today! I've wanted one for year but just always thought they were too expensive. Today I ordered the Canon EOS M100 with the kit 15-45mm lens and this 22mm lens for only £399. Excited for it to arrive and get learning!
Even at this late date and owning some great R series cameras and lenses, I just can't part with my M50 and M100 with this lens, the 15-45mm and macro combo. 24MP is still greater detail than my incredible Canon IP8720 photo printer at 13x19. Thanks again for the great videos!
I got this for the compactness and I can say it was a let-down for the price. Realistically the stock 15-45mm produces more or less the same quality of pictures, you can't fool physics and neither can that small hole, what little you gain in sharpness from a prime you lose from not having the image stabilization, the bokeh is very similar and you also lose the zoom in the process. I also have the 32mm lens and that is visibly better than the kit in almost every photo I take but this one... not so much.
The kit lens suck at indoor and night photography though with that high f/3.5 as the minimum, making you either compensate w/ ISO (resulting in grainy photos) or slow down the shutter (which is prone to being blurred when hand-held).
Ah pancake lenses. Joy of Joys, small in your pocket and yet quite capable. And it returns the joy of photography again. Something small and easy to take with you. Making pictures everywhere :)
Great review Christopher. I have the lens too and I am satisfied. I am using the first EOS M. For me it is a good system. I look forward to your reviews for the EOS M system. Have a nice day.
With the original EOS M and this 22mm lens you have a truly portable carry camera. I use it all the time and get great results for all kinds of shots. There was a lot of negative press about the focus on the original EOS M which was good news for me as I got mine cheap.
Canon is more serious about mirrorless cameras than Nikon. The canon APS-C sensor is by far more capable than the one inch sensor is used on Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras. Most Canon dSLR EF lenses are very old. I was hoping by Canon a nice collection of sharp prime EOS-M lenses. Actually the pancake lens is the one of the two prime lens for the Canon mirroless cameras. The other one is a new 2016 macro lens with good magnification 1.2X and two intergraded led lights. Canon is more experienced than Sony in Lenses and should have made the difference. However it lets Sony to reign.
Sony optics are all MINOLTA . MINOLTA optical engineering ( Rokkor ) bought by Sony . Considering that MINOLTA supplied glass and built lenses for LEICA , well , what you have is superior lens technology that Sony bought at a time when MINOLTA dropped the ball on digital DSLR market entry .
If you are interested in primes, a good option for the EOS M3 or M5 is actually mounting the canon ef 40mm f/2.8 pancake or the nifty fifty EF 50mm f/1.8 using the adapter. The advantage is the adapter allows use of normal autofocus since they're canon lenses, and they are still small enough to be a decent balance for the M cameras. Also they are $100-200 which is much cheaper than other prime lenses. If you like manual focus, there is a Meike EOS-M mount 35mm f/1.7 lens for less than $100 that is a great deal (but you have to zone focus or manually focus)
The main differences are between focal lengths, not sharpness. The 22, 40, and 50mm are all great inexpensive lenses. The EF-M 22mm lens is very sharp, quiet, and makes the camera very unobtrusive. It's a good all around lens. The EF 40mm is a little more zoomed in, so its a little harder to use for landscape shots or group shots, but it is more effective for portraits, head shots, and for situations when you want to zoom in a little, like if you are shooting subjects further away (ie at a graduation, on a stage not too far away). However, it is still a decent all around lens if you tend to keep your distance and take photos of people from 8-10 feet away. The 50mm takes it in even tighter, and is GREAT for professional looking portraits, and the aperture of 1.8 means you can use it in low light indoors (churches, weddings, bars, etc) and get much better pictures than with a kit lens. Having said that, it is nigh impossible to get group shots indoors because its too zoomed in - you will have your back to the wall all night.
Great review! Lovely to see that someone is investing some time into reviewing these EF-M lenses, it's certainly a great system! Question: would you say this is a better all round prime to use with the EOS M in comparison with some of Canon's EF primes like, for example, the classic 50mm F1.8? Do you have an idea of how they compare sharpness wise?
I always thought the EF 40 2.8 was stunning at wide apperature, until I got my hands on this one. At f2.0 its so damn freakin sharp, it absolutely blows any other Canon lens I ever tried out of the water!
That makes sense! Other than that one "lacking" option I am very very satisfied with my new M5 though. Looking forward to seeing even more beautiful content of yours :) Keep up the good work!
I just bought this lens to go with my M200 I recently got as a backup camera, but to my surprise images seem to be quite soft and blurry even at smaller apertures, especially to the right of the frame. Given the high praise I’ve seen online so far I’m guessing it might be a de-centered copy, so asked for a replacement. Hopefully the new one won’t have issues 😢
Danilo Sagarang thats not how focal length works don’t pay attention to that 💀. This lens is built for the m series so the focal length will stay the same. The aperture just allows more light to come in or keep it out. It also affects bokeh
Hi Chris, I really loved your review! Very informative and helpful! Ive been wondering, what picture style are you using and how do you set it? Your photo looks so great and crisp! Many thanks!
I'm going to see how my other specialised tests on that camera do, to see if more are financially viable for me. A new test of the 15-45 and 18-55 lenses comes out today
Hello Christopher, could you help me? I just bought this lens and found the focus ring harder to rotate than the 15-45 lens ring. Is it like that, or is it as smooth as the kit lens? Thank you!
Hello,Dear Mr. Frost. i have been watching your videos for a few months and i gotta say your reviews are top notch and they helped me alot deciding what to buy and what not to. For that, i thank you very much. I bought EOS M3 , been shooting with the kit ef-m 15-45mm lens, bought a ef-m 55-200mm too. 15-45mm worked well for wide angles and any kind of situation, i even used my 55-200mm for moon photography. But though they were good for daily use, i have some speed complaint.. I am considering to buy a canon 50mm f/1.8 stm as a beginner on budget, and i got and mount-adapter ahead . but i am worried about the focal length, will the 50mm become more narrow because of the mount adapter ? or should i consider other mm lens ? i need speed, i need a lens good for street, wedding, daily use, and i am also on budget. I need an advice from a professional like Mr. Frost. Thank you, Sir.
A 50mm lens on a Canon APS-C camera, like the EOS M, will be 80mm (1.6x) so it is a little tight. A good option might be to use the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART, or the Samyang 21mm f/1.4 (if you don't mind manual focus)
Hello again Mr. FROST. How do you compare between ef-m 22mf/2.0 and EF-S 24mm f/2.8? I would love to see you comparing the focal length, the BOKEH, and the night photo and video shots if you don't mind. Thanks you very much.
Hi, Like your review of this lens unfortunately I cannot use it because it is only available in EF-M mount. Because of this specialised mount there are not many users. Just a suggestion in future if you want to review Fujifilm lenses just review the latest releases eg 23mm f2.0 don't bother(waste your time) with older lenses because they had be reviewed by MANY users/reviewers. My suggestion quickly get hold of this lens, 23mm f2 when it hits the shop and do a thorough review ahead of everyone else if not try to be the first few reviewers and don't leave till everyone has done it to death.
I am interested in this system and this lens, as it appears to have the lowest aperture in the price range, while also give a good angle on a crop sensor. What you said about the out-of-focus softness has me wondering though. I really like the bokeh from the 50/1.8. It looks wonderful. So how is it that a 0.2 difference in aperture can take all of it away? Is it because of the focal length? I am looking for a good allrounder and the 50 is a bit narrow for street and buildings on asp-c.
Thank you for your video, I got my first camera with 15-45 mm lens which came in a box for EOS M200. Should it make more difference if I buy 22 mm, or I should buy other lens. I can afford to buy only one extra lens for now. What would be your advice? Thank you!
Any camera in the world can take landscape and portrait shots. If you're asking me if its suitable for landscape and portraits, it'll be fine, but other cameras might get sharper images for landscape work
On EF and EF-S lenses there is a switch for switching to AF and M. On these M lenses, there is no M -AF switch , so how to shoot in manual mode? thank you.
Hi Chris! Very nice review and indeed very helpful. Thank you! Which lens would you advise is better EFM22 or EFS 24 for my EOS M6 Markii because of its high resolution?? Please advise..,
Considering only image quality like corner sharpness, how would you compare this to the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Art at the same aperture stops? I'm looking for a prime lens for my M5 below my EF 50mm 1.8 and to go along with my Tamron 17-50 2.8 (without IS). So far I'm considering the 22 f2, the Sigma 30 Art, Canon 28 2.8 IS USM or the 35 f2, but I favor below 35.
This is my first pancake lens, overall I like it, but the I find the auto focus motor way too loud. If I record video, the audio picks up the motor pretty clearly. Is this just a pancake lens quality?
hello , i use a nikon 7100 aps-c camera and now i want to buy a new lens for full body photograpy i think sigma 30 mm art is the best option in quality , which lens do you think is best for that? sorry , my english is not very good.
Hello chris.. I'm doing videography now and i want to buy a wide lens that good in low light.. And this ef-m 22mm and ef-s 24mm was a good option with good price for me.. But which of this lens a better option.. I have canon m50 with adapter and ef 50mm right now.. Thanks a lot chris..
That's a good question. I'm using the Meike adaptor at the moment, and actually, it's not very good - the connection goes quite often, and the AF is very slow (although I don't know if the official Canon adaptor would help with the AF)
When using an adaptor with lenses in general? Most lenses I've tried have worked quite normally and fairly quickly, but not as well as if you were using a DSLR camera and focusing through the viewfinder (with the shutter button, as you put it)
Hi Chris, I am trying to get a 35mm lens for street and everyday photography. Thinking either sigma 35mm 1.4 (as you reviewed it is superb) ot sigma 24-35mm f2. Now 35mm prime has better quality but 24-35 has a bit flexibility in terms of focal range. But photos may not be as sharp as 35mm prime. Which one should I go for? Please help!! Thank you!
Love your videos, Chris, I have a question about focal lengths--I get why a full frame focal length isn't the same on an APS-C, but why would a 22mm lens that's designed for an APS-C not be equivalent to a full frame 22mm lens?
I am saving Money for a Canon 17-55mm 2.8, for my Canon 600d ... Is it worth the Price ? Or should I just get the Sigma 17-50mm, I have heard the Sigma does not last for a Long time, and eventually the AutoFocus will Fail... I am a Hobbyist but plan to Take wedding and Birthday pics as extra income.
I'd probably go for the Canon lens if you can. I think it's worth it for the nicer build quality and better handling of distortion, and it's certainly better for video work
Does the Eos m3 camera paired with the 22mm f/2 lens work as a good vlogging camera?? And does that combination continuously auto focus by itself while videotaping? Or do you have to autofocus it yourself on video??
In my experience it didn't perform so well. I did a vlog in my channel where I went to the beach with my friends and I, "RUBY BEACH OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK ADVENTURE." The lens was struggling to focus on subjects and constantly hunting for a face to focus, especially on fast moving objects. The lens also has a weird artificial video look that is sharp like razor sharp that the footage doesn't look natural. I would give it a 2.5 out of 5 and I would rather recommend a different lens that is much more wider: but picture quality wise this lens is amazing.
I was using the M3 with the hybrid cmos sensor but I upgraded on the M6 with dual pixel hopefully the autofocus is better and the video quality for 22mm f/2 wouldn't look so artificial.
I've got a Nikon D3300 camera, and I bought this exact lens cheap ($50) off of someone so I really want to use it. I'm new to the photography game and I need help finding a working adapter for this online. Anyone have any suggestions? I tried amazon but I was getting adapters for Nikon lenses to use on Canon bodies.
Canon lenses don't work on Nikon cameras. And, as I mention in the review, this is a camera lens for mirrorless cameras and as such, it will not work on digital SLR cameras.
@@JakeAustriaco The most important difference is the flange focal distance. This lens needs to be mounted 18 mm from the sensor. On Nikon DSLRs the mount is 46.5 mm from the sensor. You would somehow need to push this lens deep inside the body where the mirror is. Then there are all the electric contacts so yo would need to have an adapter. Nikon has about the longest flange focal distance so it can use only native lenses. On other other hand many other system can use Nikon lenses.
For travelling, do you think that carrying the 22mm will be sufficient if I'm mainly shooting food, small buildings and landscapes? I'm trying to travel light and wondering if I need to bring the 15-45mm at all. Cheers :)
I have 18-55 and 22 and I'd take both to shoot with zoom during daytime (variable focal length plus stabilization which is good for video) and 22mm when it gets dark. If you want to travel super light, I think taking just 22mm is absolutely fine, it's small and performs really well :)
I know I probably won't get a reply since this video is 4 years old but maybe someone coming later can answer my question.... does anyone else struggle with focus with this lens? I feel I have to turn the focus ring all the way around to get a small change in focus. anyone know a fix to this?
been using this lens for about 2+ years. really nice quality for such a small and relatively inexpensive lens
Adam Rahmansyah lebih tajem mana ketimbang 50mm bang?
Adam Rahmansyah iya bang bagus mana sama 50mm?
Sintang Damar Apriliastyo beda focal length sih, jd gak bisa dibandingin secara langsung sebenarnya. tapi kalo bener2 ingin dibandingin menurut saya mereka sama2 tajam
gimana kondisi AF nya setelah 2 tahun pakai? masih responsif kah? terimakasih
Hello can I use this lens for the new Canon M6 that coming out soon ?
I got Canon Eos M3 and this pancake , I don’t need anything else ...

there is not one....i recommend looking at the 11-22 if you like wide angle
Still using this lens occasionally now, it's a really nice lens for taking close up shots.
This is my favorite lens, I got my best shots and memories on this. Get rid of the 18-55 and get it
I agree. Much better lens compared with the 18-55.

Hi. I have brought a canon m200 can you recommend a lens for everyday photo like a smartphone

On the original M this was by far my favorite lens. Will you dig deeper in Canon's M line?
I have been testing out some other lenses, yes...
Just got this lens. Thanks for video
This and the 18-55 were my main lens on the original M. Outstanding results on a tripod
I've ordered the B+W 900 43mm lens hood it's rubber and adjustable. Thanks for the review it arrived today.

You should definitely do a review about the new EOS M5 Camera. I've been using it for a month now and I must say...I love it!
I almost bought one myself. But for my next video project I need 4k shooting for leeway in editing

how's the new copy? i'm starting to be tempted by a 2nd-hand m100 (w/ 15-45), and i'm considering this as my 1st prime.
Nice pancake lens. Would be good for discreet photography. Thanks for the review.
Love this lens, so dang sharp!
@Christofer Frost how did you shoot by Canon R5... 5 year ago!? Canon R5 released on 2019...
Which one do you recommend for filmmaker? 22mm f2 or sigma 17-50mm f2.8
Leonard Dai id say the ability to zoom will be beneficial for film as youd have a variety of focal lengths for diff shots.
picked this up today!
Thanks for explaining that this will not work on a DSLR, I watched several videos before this and they didn't even bother to mention that.
I have a question. This 22mm lens and the Canon 50mm/f1.8 STM, which one is better for portrait shot?
Canon 50mm 1.8
This is a perfect review, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing! I will buy one!
Best video lens explanation thumbs up!!
Well...
A 22mm ƒ/2.0 lens would only have an 11mm opening at ƒ/2.0.
After all, aperture is a ratio, and 22/2=11.
wow thanks. didn't know that.
I just use the normal pictures styles, and then add a little contrast and saturation in editing
Hi, could you compare the new 32mm 1.4 efm lens with 22mm?
This was such a good review
Hi Christopher, can you test it on your new M6 Mark II? I'm wondering how well it handles the new sensor. Thanks for your work!
I'm going to see how my other specialised tests on that camera do, to see if more are financially viable for me. A new test of the 15-45 and 18-55 lenses comes out today
hi chris! i am an eos m3 user. which will give me a sharper image, this or the ef-s 24mm f2.8? Thanks
They'll be quite similar. Just get the 22mm lens :-)
same question of mine..thanks
How do you zoom in on the photo?
This is not a zoom lens.
He is doing it on the computer
+Christopher Frost Photography thank you Mr. Frost.
HI could you make another episode for this? for efm 22mm? i wanna know how will it be capturing landscape on video
You want me to make an entire video all about using this lens for landscape photography? I've reviewed it pretty fully, here
I’m guessing this is compatible with any canon camera?
i need help! i have a canon eos 80d and i bought these lens. Is there any lens adapter i can use on my 80d so that i can use my ef-m 22mm lens?
Hello again Mr. FROST.
How do you compare between ef-m 22mf/2.0 and EF-S 24mm f/2.8?
I would love to see you comparing the focal length, the BOKEH, and the night photo and video shots if you don't mind.
Thanks you very much.
Hi Cris, which have more background blur (buket) ? The lens EF-M 45mm f/6,3 or EF-M 22mm f/2? I have a EF-M 15-45mm f/ 5,6-6,3 on my Canon EOS M10.
The 22mm lens give a more out of focus background at the 22mm focal length, as it obviously has a wider aperture
Hi,
Like your review of this lens unfortunately I cannot use it because it is only available in EF-M mount.
I'll try my best :-)
Not sure to buy ef-m 22mm f/2 or ef-s 24mm f/2.8. How do you think which is better for video? (autofocus, sharpennes )
If you have a mirrorless camera then get the EF-M lens. If you have a Canon digital SLR camera then you can only get the EF-S lens
Would you recommend this lens for video shooting? For example for basic video blogging? Can you make a nice bokeh on videos with it?
It would be good, if you're using a tripod. As for the bokeh, watch the review, and you'll see!
It's because of the focal length. On a wider angle lens the out of focus backgrounds are nowhere near as noticeable at normal working distances
What about the video quality for vlogging purposes
Thank you for your video, I got my first camera with 15-45 mm lens which came in a box for EOS M200. Should it make more difference if I buy 22 mm, or I should buy other lens. I can afford to buy only one extra lens for now. What would be your advice? Thank you!
Offtopic, is EOS M6 a landscape and portrait photography camera? Please answer i cant find this answer!
Any camera in the world can take landscape and portrait shots. If you're asking me if its suitable for landscape and portraits, it'll be fine, but other cameras might get sharper images for landscape work
On EF and EF-S lenses there is a switch for switching to AF and M.
On these M lenses, there is no M -AF switch , so how to shoot in manual mode?
thank you.
There's an option in the camera menu
I have the 22mm but it doesn't appear to offer Panning in Creative Mode, so which lenses are needed ?
Hmm, don't know
Christopher ! Thanks for great reviews of Canon M-lenses and lovely shots of... Cornwall ?
I think there was some Cornwall in there :-)
My mind is boggling just trying to think of that question. Take a look at my reviews for test results
This is my first pancake lens, overall I like it, but the I find the auto focus motor way too loud. If I record video, the audio picks up the motor pretty clearly. Is this just a pancake lens quality?
It just how this particular lens is made.
My dream lens, Fuji please give us a lens like this!!
The rear ring with print on it is definitely metal, but not the focus ring though
Would this lens be good for astrophotography? I read something about comatic aberrations (the seagull effect) with this lens when photographing stars.
hello , i use a nikon 7100 aps-c camera and now i want to buy a new lens for full body photograpy i think sigma 30 mm art is the best option in quality , which lens do you think is best for that? sorry , my english is not very good.
I don't know what you mean by 'full body' photography but the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART is a very good lens which is worth a try
ok.thans you .i like your videos
ok.thans you .i like your videos
Hello chris.. I'm doing videography now and i want to buy a wide lens that good in low light.. And this ef-m 22mm and ef-s 24mm was a good option with good price for me.. But which of this lens a better option.. I have canon m50 with adapter and ef 50mm right now.. Thanks a lot chris..
What did you end up getting? Deciding between those 2 lenses
small, light, sharp, cheap, FAST... nothing to dislike apart maybe from little slow AF, but who cares at this price point ? really nice lens!
as always great video
thanks
i want to ask about color rendition ? who it stands when comparing the color with canon L lenses ?
thanks again
Obviously the canon L lenses do.
Hi Chris... Would you compare it to Sony E 20mm f/2.8 please?
Hi Chris, Is it worth paying the extra money for the genuine ef-m to ef adapter?
That's a good question. I'm using the Meike adaptor at the moment, and actually, it's not very good - the connection goes quite often, and the AF is very slow (although I don't know if the official Canon adaptor would help with the AF)
what AF, chris? by touch or button?
?
I mean, is ur slow AF gotten from shutter button or by touching it from the screen? Or both get slower AF after u using meike adapter?
When using an adaptor with lenses in general? Most lenses I've tried have worked quite normally and fairly quickly, but not as well as if you were using a DSLR camera and focusing through the viewfinder (with the shutter button, as you put it)
Hello do you know if is possible to use the peleng in canon M6 with EF - EFm adapter?
just curious if i have the 18-150 lens isnt the 22 mm inside ?????
It would be 22mm on a full frame camera. It's equivalent to a 35mm focal length on an APSC camera. Multiply the men's by 1.6 which is the crop factor
You can test EF-M 18-55? It is better than DSLR kit?
I have. So far I've found that the optics are very imilar, but the build quality of the EF-M lens is nicer
Thanks!
I think it's worth it for the nicer build quality and better handling of distortion, and it's certainly better for video work
thanks for the reply :)
Does the Eos m3 camera paired with the 22mm f/2 lens work as a good vlogging camera?? And does that combination continuously auto focus by itself while videotaping? Or do you have to autofocus it yourself on video??
It should be pretty good really. There is indeed a continuous AF mode on the Canon EOS M3
Those AF issues you mention are a problem with your camera. If you were using an EOS M3 or earlier model then that's a normal issue.
I was using the M3 with the hybrid cmos sensor but I upgraded on the M6 with dual pixel hopefully the autofocus is better and the video quality for 22mm f/2 wouldn't look so artificial.
Best lens review on youtube!!! Can you please make a review on the canon ef-m 32mm f/1.4??
Yes, yes, I will, I'm just waiting for the hire company to get one in :-)
So can i do Astro landscape on my SonyA7riii?
stupid question but.. anyone owning this lense can hear a little sound and vibrations when the camera is on?
That's normal when the camera is focusing.
You will never get this lens to work on a Nikon D3300. You should sell it immediately.
Christopher Frost Photography
Why is that?
Cheers :)
I'm wondering this aswell! :)
I have 18-55 and 22 and I'd take both to shoot with zoom during daytime (variable focal length plus stabilization which is good for video) and 22mm when it gets dark. If you want to travel super light, I think taking just 22mm is absolutely fine, it's small and performs really well :)
22mm is versatile enough for all that purposes dude
Is it good for close up face? Because there is no distortion
No, it's too much of a wide angle really
Can you still put a lens cap over the ew-45 lens hood?
I know I probably won't get a reply since this video is 4 years old but maybe someone coming later can answer my question.... does anyone else struggle with focus with this lens? I feel I have to turn the focus ring all the way around to get a small change in focus. anyone know a fix to this?
Try pushing your shutter button down halfway as you're trying to manually focus
Hey Christopher could recommend me any lens for eos m3, equivalent to full frame 50mm?
Samyang 35mm 1.2, Mitakon 35mm f/0.95...and I hear that Canon might be working on a 32mm f/1.4 lens, which would have autofocus
