I don’t know about anyone else, but I counted 14 outfit changes throughout the whole MV. The long dress when she walks down the hallway, the 70s and 80s American rock band album cover outfit in the alleyway, gray beanie and outfit in the garage, black mini dress on the bike, special agent in the pub, exotic dancer on the pole, racer outfit in the quarry, goggles and pants in the four wheeler, Thai queen on The throne, gold discs dress and black gold top and skirt outfits for Thai Palace, black fringe dress from the LALISA room, purple blazer with bow shoes for the colorful scene and white Sports bra and pants in LALISA room.

The "Middle Eastern" vibe is actually the "Thai" vibe. Lisa is from Thailand. In 2010, at the age of 13, she participated in an audition in Bankok organized by YG Entertainment. She was the only one chosen over 4000 participants. In 2011, at the age of 14, she left Thailand for Seoul, S. Korea, to join YGE as a trainee. In August 2016,she debuted as a member of BlackPink, and the rest is history. Now, she pays homage to her home country in her debut as a solo artist in this MV. Remember the line "From Thailand to Korea, and now here, went for the throat (The throat)"?
Don't worry, I have a feeling we'll see some of these outfits return when she releases some live stage performances of this song. Can't wait for that - the Jimmy Fallon performance was already too amazing.

The styling and some of the sounds are Thai influenced, she had suggested it to her YG producer Teddy and he incorporated it into the song, the gold outfit, the brass, flute and trumpet sounds are also of Thai influenced (I know its sounds similar to Middle Eastern but some Eastern Asian countries have similar brassy/percussion sounds in their traditional music) Lisa is very proud of her heritage and we are proud of her. Hi, from Thailand. I’d like to tell you guys more about her Thai scene background. If you knew her story facing with Korean conservatism fans, you will be a lot more appreciated and more emotional with her Thai scene appearing in this MV. Even she knows the effecting, but she still proud and stand to represent her races, her nation (ancient stone palace is in Buriram province, her birthplace), and her blood. This is why Thai people were so surprising with that scene. It’s feel like she is bringing herself with a bomb in her hand standing in the middle of the enemies’ army.
I didn’t saying Conservative Korean ppl are not good. I think all of us need a nation conservative as a basis thing to push our nation forward, and I want Thai ppl to do so, this is a good thing to learn from them. And I think Lisa respect that also…
What Lisa did was like, the more she faces with racism, the more she wants to prove herself to public, that because she still trust in Korean ppl that has high quality enough to step over racism and shifting into the new Korean era, the era of respecting, the era of opening, the era of acceptance. Looking at one another at their ability in actual. She just little girl persuaded her dream by trying hard, by her talents. And most important, she “respect in being herself”, this is super important.
To Korean people, as I am Thai consuming some Korean entertainment businesses, I just think that this is a time to reconsider. If you proposed to be a capital of this kind of business, you need to shift your mindset soonest. Because how much you want world to respect your cultures, you just simply show how much you respect the world. For that section of the song, the outfit + golden cone shaped object on her head ("Cha-da") is how Thai traditional costume (mostly for royals class) looks like. But the music of that part is not Thai. It's more like India or Middle eastern.
