Sun grew up in Vacuo, and with the “if you can survive here, you belong here” thing, it suddenly makes sense why he knows so little about the Faunus and their struggles, for example he knew nothing about Menagerie, Blake explained everything.
Mantle was mentioned a few times in volume 4, at the fundraiser party that the Schnee family puts on. Henry Marigold (the blue-haired boy that tries to flirt with Weiss) asks if it's "another fundraiser for Mantle", showing that the elite in Atlas view the people in Mantle as kind of a charity case, someone to pity but not get too close to. There's also a brief line in background dialogue at the party talking about the "economic disparity" between Atlas and Mantle. Don't worry, we'll get to explore that dynamic a whole lot more in upcoming volumes. ;)
Yup, from what I remember about the story he and some others were having a meeting at an iHop to brainstorm. And Monty took some ketchup and smeared onto his napkin, and the stain is what the shape of the continents is based off of.
Yep! The song Indomitable from the V6 soundtrack mentions it too (it's a Monty song, and it's amazing) 'So step by step And frame by frame A world created Its map fashioned from a stain'
The entirety of V1 - 3 takes place in Vale with a few mentions and bits of other places. And the majority of V4 happens in Mistral, with a few parts in Atlas, Menagerie, and Patch the island where Ruby's home is. Pretty interesting world building, these definitely help to make a mental picture of what's going on and where.
Funny fact about the map; it was constructed when Monty spurt ketchup on a napkin and folded it together. And after a bit of some sprucing here and there, Remnant was born.
Alright just a basic summary: *Vale -- Located on the eastern end of Saunus, the continent it shares with Vacuo. Home of Beacon Academy, and was protected by shallow seas and mountains. Few other cities along coast and of course the failed settlement of Mountain Glenn. Also, the island of Patch, which is where Ruby and Yang grew up. *Mistral -- Located on the western continent of Anima, which has a varying degree of climates. Home to Haven Academy. The fashion, theater, and architectural capital of the world. Also houses Remnant's largest black market. Inhabitants share respect for nature. *Atlas -- Located on the the northern continent of Solitas. Started out as Mantle but then Atlas (also the name of the Academy) came along and left the city of Mantle in the dust. It's the youngest kingdom, but also the most technologically advanced. HQ of the Schnee Dust Co. The Academy was called Alsius before the switch to Atlas. *Vacuo -- Located on the western end of Saunus, the continent it shares with Vale. An arid desert area that once housed an oasis before the other kingdoms invaded and drained them of resources. Home to Shade Academy, the only real source of law and order in this kingdom. If you can survive, you're welcome. *Menagerie -- Located furthest south. Briefly mentioned in the show and in the first video as the continent given to the Faunus. Basically Remnant's version of Australia. Mostly uninhabitable outside of Kuo Kuana, Blake's home. *Unnamed Dragon Continent in the corner - ?????
Not sure if you are aware, but the voice actor for Qrow was replaced. But it is still Vic up until Volume 7. There are mixed feeling among fans over it. That little island to the south is called Menagerie, and that is where Blake comes from. The other small island off the coast of Vale is where Ruby and Yang come from. And the snowy island to the north is Atlas, where Weiss hails from.
Mantle is briefly mentioned in v2 during team rwbys boardgame Ruby was playing Atlas and mentions "as Atlas is part of Mantle, my repair time only lasts one turn"
It not just you my dear Qrow’s voice actor Vic Mignogna Dose have a really soothing and satisfying Voice thats alway a pleasure to hear so enjoy it becouse he gets replaced in volume 7 onward his successor has done a phenomenal job but i still miss Vic and for anyone accusing me of spoiling stuff I don't consider real world concerning stances spoilers sorry about that iv just had a lot of people falsely accusing me of spoiling and i just felt it needed saying
I have been watching RWBY since it came out, and I am JUST NOW noticing Menagerie looks like a fish... also the map dragon makes so much more sense now...
Ah crow (Vic) has such a nice voice! I can defs understand your reaction 😂 (ps his VC does gets replaced at some point which is really sad! The VC has done a great job, not at good as Vic in my opinion tho)

Flynt also mentions his father's dust shop being in Mantle in V3
Wow I had no idea you had a thing for Qrow, I was totally blindsided by that admission.
Sarcasm
I totally understand why you're obsessed with Qrow, he is pretty awesome! Love your reactions, can't wait to see you start volume 5!
Sis that’s my exact reaction when I hear Qrow’s voice too 😭😂
i guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anybody know a good place to watch new movies online?
@Enrique Damian Lately I have been using flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
Her reaction was so genuine I laughed.
The Australia-ish continent is Menagerie. The vaguely dragon-shaped one on the left is theorised to be where Salem calls home.
I think Mantle got mentioned once in WoR: Kingdoms narrated by Ozpin. He said "now-defunct Kingdom of Mantle.", when he referred to Atlas.
I hear Monty came up with the map of Remnant smearing condiments on a napkin.
Thats interesting lol

Your high school glee when Qrow wanted to talk about Vale is ALL OF US INSIDE, IT'S GREAT, YES, PREACH. XD

I always thought that was/could be Salem's home base...reminded me of the dragon Maleficent turned into in the original Disney's Sleeping Beauty.

The very first mention of Mantle was during the board game in Volume 2, Episode 2 where Ruby mentions that Atlas is part of Mantle.
Mantle is briefly mentioned in v2 during team rwbys boardgame
Ruby was playing Atlas and mentions "as Atlas is part of Mantle, my repair time only lasts one turn"
And is also mentioned in v4 by Henry Marigold the blue haired snob Neptune rip off Weiss is approached by during the fundraiser
the island Patch off the coast of Vale is where Ruby and Yang grew up.

sorry about that iv just had a lot of people falsely accusing me of spoiling and i just felt it needed saying
Cept it implies said character is present up til that point, so it kinda is when you mention specific volumes.
You need to react to RWBY Chibi, it's a spin-off of the serie, and it's so funny!!! (Sorry for my bad english, i'm from Argentina)
YES!!! She NEEDS to, she will love it! :D
I have been watching RWBY since it came out, and I am JUST NOW noticing Menagerie looks like a fish... also the map dragon makes so much more sense now...
There's another World of Remnant for the Schnee Dust Company.
When you figure out that Yang and Ruby are Island 🏝️ Girls raised away from the larger nations as a whole… 👀 😂❤
So the world of Remnant map was actually derived from a Ketchup stained napkin that Monty used one night
Ah crow (Vic) has such a nice voice! I can defs understand your reaction 😂

Guys, don't tell her about Qrow's voice actor in this, let her have this,,, :'c
Also take these with a grain of salt because they are not entirely canon anymore
