@@RC-1290 You can still use an Oculus account until 2023, but I'm not saying anyone should make a dummy account. You can create a legitimate Facebook account giving them less information than you give an iPad or Switch. But like I said, if that still makes some people uncomfortable, that's fine too. Hopefully other affordable VR headsets emerge soon
@@BennJordan I suppose that's a temporary solution for individuals, but that's a bit trickier when trying to deploy something in an organization,. I suppose I'm mostly just frustrated because they've essentially bought that market segment, one that used to be very interesting to develop for. And now any business plan is entirely linked to Facebook whims. A banned OpenVR system still works offline.
This is the exact video I was looking for. I’m hoping in the future we get something a little closer to a proper DAW but it’s still very much in its infancy.
SynthVR will hopefully be wonderful. The dev seems pretty active and accessible. I've tried Synthspace for a couple of sessions, and it's very similar to SynthVR. I do think the interactions in SynthVR feel much better, and the aesthetic is more pleasing to the eye once in the environment.
I think augmented reality music production will be insane in the future! you could just put your VR goggles on and have control of AR overlapped synths, drum pads, effects, while also being able to use your hardware equipment with your hands. Very soon VR won't even have joysticks/hand devices, they will fully operate from hand movements and gestures
"Playing the drums without actually feeling the feedback of hitting an object is always going to be less accurate." Ever tried the push-pull technique on Aero Drums? For standard, radio tune types of grooves, it is almost perfectly on par. Totally different tech from the Oculus, but pretty remarkable. I would call it a "professional novelty." If you are looking for some genuine percussion goodness on the Quest, Handpan VR pretty useful. An ideophone that fits in your lap. Or I guess a virtual ideophone that fits in your lap, and while you can't exact roll or anything, it's accurate enough to substitute for a handpan if you don't have a couple grand to spend on an auxiliary instrument.

There are gimmicks in SynthVR.. the universe unit, it controls sky color and movement of the geometrical shapes.
Soundstage got the dev a job at google I believe. Real shame his work on it stopped as a result but understandable. Remains the most impressive virtual music making app for me on og vive.

I’ve used soundstage for years to perform but never tried it on quest (i have it hooked up to midi in an audiovisual setup so it’s never made sense), it’s great but has its flaws for sure. Interested to see how synthVR and the last one mentioned match up as I’m really interested in the immersive modular approach. Thanks for the update i hadnt checked in on the new apps in a minute!

Check out Tranzient www.aliveintech.com it also has a free demo/lite version and runs in both standard and VR modes. Although not perfect it certainly has the best features compared to other VR music software. ( currently supports Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality)

You can't. That's the problem. Dummy accounts get banned, and that means losing the ability to use the device. Unlike any other VR headset.
