That was exactly what the 70s was like...at least for me ..cruisin for chick's in hotted up car on the weekends..getting in to trouble with the cops...only small stuff mind...now I'm in my 60s thinking "where did the years go"...this film is almost a documentary of that era!!!.😎🇺🇲

Great soundtrack. That was definitely one of the bad ass movies of the mid-70s. Right up there with easy Rider in the cult film era.

In 1975 I was 9. My friends older brother got us in to see this movie. One of the main things I remember about it was "Bennie and the Jets" and singing it on the way home.

I was 14 when this came out. My good friend Eddie Hamilton got the same year Camaro and made it look just like this car. It was badass.

That car instantly inspired me 😍 but I wasn't yet driving age.
      Bought one ten years later.
      Even the seats were red,
      in crushed velvet. 💖

I've been able to catch this film anywhere in 50 years...
Even the younger programming and hosts on TCM have ignored it.
It's so rarely seen that until just now, I had thought that the title was "Aloha, Bobby Rose"
Well, maybe I will get to see it one day.

Was I really 7 years old when I saw this?! I went to the theater with my cousin. I wore my aunt's high heels! Omg! It was 1977, kids were not supervised 😆 This movie has stuck with me till this day❤️

My mom would work on Saturdays she would take us with her to the City Hall the city hall where they filmed some scenes from bronco Billy .On one Saturday we went to see this movie my brother and I. I believe it was 1974 I was nine-years-old my brother was 7 was the saddest movie we had ever watched. For many years I forgot about this movie. But I remembered the Elton John song it would always make me sad when I would hear this song almost to the point of 😭 . Over the years I would ask other teenagers and adults if they know of any movie that was related to this song. Nope even a few friends that graduated ten years before me and 73 nope. Then the internet came out, and again I found aloha Bobby and Rose 🌹. 🤔

I saw all those and several similar themed ones over the years on their original release dates in theatres. To say they impacted my life in a positive way is a big understatement. For starters I owned and drove a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T during my last year of High School.

I always thought this was a Floyd Mutrux movie. It has both his meandering writing and directing style. It's an OK movie.... I just wish it was more about the L.A. cruising scene and the trouble Bobby and his little buddy get up to. I mean, the first part of the movie is great but we never see any kind of resolve to Bobby owing the pool shark money or what happens to Robert Carradine.... he just sort of disappears. And yeah, it's a total downer when Bobby gets shot at the end.... for literally no reason.

I saw this movie in ‘75 with my girlfriend Bobbie and her mom. We went out for pizza beforehand and got an ice cream cone afterwards. We did that many times. They were two of the most charming ladies I had ever met. 😅

I thought Dianne Hull would have a much bigger career than she did. A few years later a movie appeared called California Dreaming, starring Glynnis O'Connor and Dennis Christopher. That and Aloha B&R would have made a great double bill at drive-ins.

They become fugitives because of something that the main character does that is so stupid it practically ruins the whole movie. The movie has lots of shots of where I grew up, in the San Fernando Valley, lots of scenes in Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys, for many reasons the movie is pretty fun, and it's got Tim McIntire and he is always fun to watch.

If any actor is reading this...Does it feel weird when you're filming a makeup scene and you have to kiss someone you scarcely know? I ask because in Aloha B&R these two really go at it in a couple of scenes and I assume they did a few dozen takes. I personally would feel terribly awkward necking with a woman I didn't know. (Even worse if either one is actually gay.)

    • @That_AMC_Guy
      @That_AMC_Guy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'm a complete nobody (I've been an extra in two movies and done a voice over for something that never got released).... but, I used to have a friend who has since, sadly, passed on.... but she had a budding film & TV career. Many times I'd get called over to her apartment to run lines and go over scenes that she was going to be in. I guess I should pre-face this with we'd known each-other since middle school, so, I guess we weren't complete strangers.... we were just two people who knew each other that reconnected in their late 20's. We'd never been romantically involved, though I will admit I did have a crush on her.
ANYHOW.... one night she called me over to run through half a dozen scenes, one of which was a love scene. Right off the bat, she asked me if I was "Ok" with that. I just shrugged and said "Sure" not really knowing what to expect. Now, since she's no longer with us, I guess I can't ask what her motivation was.... but I had always heard she could be aggressive.... or maybe it was the fact that she was pretty much a professional actress.... we did the lines; she went through the motions... you know, hand on shoulder, then hand on thighs.... and literally before I really knew what was happening, she was on top of me, her tongue was down my throat; somehow her top and bra had come off came off so fast she got burnt.... and she is holding yours truly down and I don't know about you..... but if you're getting that sort of "action" I guess you do just get swept up in the motion and go along with it.
The only downside was.... she could turn it on just as fast as she could turn it off. After what seemed like an eternity worth of heavy petting; she just pulls back and goes "Great! That was perfect!" Then pats me on the crotch and asks me why I'm still single.
So.... In answer to your question.... does it feel weird?? Not exactly. I would propose that your more basic instincts kick in and your brain just goes "Woohoo!! Kissy-kissy! BOOBS!"
The only downside of working with a professional actress is that she's just in it to do the scene, meanwhile most of your blood supply has found alternate storage?? :)

@@That_AMC_Guy Bruce Willis has done his share of nude makeout scenes and said they are tedious as all hell; you lie there with her and grope or kiss as directed, and then you lie there doing nothing at all as the director tells the crew to try shooting the scene from different angles. You should watch a movie called The Sailor Who Fell from Grace With the Sea; Sarah Miles and Kris Kristofferson said they did their nude sex scene for an entire week, just rolling around in bed from nine till five as the cameras rolled. The director ended up with miles of unused nude footage once he was done cutting the picture.
