    The Animals were far beyond their time. If it hadn’t been for the Beatles, I believe they would have been far more popular.

      The Beatles were the business end, the Animals and later Eric made good music.🤔🌍✌️

    The Animals were fantastic, not just because they recorded most of their earliest songs in one take. They also discovered Jimi Hendrix, took him to London and kick started his career. The Animals guitarist Chas Chandler became his manager.
    Also recommend "We've Got to Get Out of This Place"

    LOVE The Animals! Always wondered how Eric had such a deep and powerful voice come out of him! He doesn't look like one to have that sort of voice. He was very good looking here!

    The early 1960's didn't have a very deep pool of songs to cover, since rock and roll/R&B was basically 10-12 years old at the time. Rock groups, like the Beatles, Stones, Animals....all looked to R&B songs to "cover"/re-interpret. 1964 saw Nina Simone release her incredible (slower) vocal rendition of this song, and it caught the Animal's attention. They put their British Invasion sound on the song, sped it up, and let Eric Burdon's soulful voice carry it to the top of the charts in 1965. Rare instance where a song was a hit one year and then a hit again the following year under a different artist...something that happened a few times in the late 1950's-mid 1960's. I love both versions of DLMBM!

    That faded out because they were miming their own song on some TV show. Great band , great song...

    • @catherinerobilliard7662
      @catherinerobilliard7662 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They wanted to sing and play their own instruments but the studio wasn’t properly equipped, and refused to broadcast any performers that didn’t mime. TV was the only media where they could be seen performing apart from live, so most conformed, though many complained. Top of the Pops was notorious for its inability to cope with live music.

    Interesting fact about The Animals. Eric Bardon was actually a small guy with a huge voice. Chas Chandler, the tall bassist, was not only a rock star in his own right, but he was also the manager of a famous group over the UK side of the world, ( and a personal favorite of mine ) a group called Slade, I would definitely recommend looking at some of their songs. I will not recommend any, I don't want to colour your experience with mine, what you get from it will be individually yours.
    And also the manager of a certain guy, you might have heard of him.
    Jimi Hendrix.
    Each of these guys were supremely talented in their own right. Together, magic happened

    Yep, Nina Simone was the first to record it in 1964, but it was the Animals' 1965 cover of it that became a hit. And the lead singer Eric Burdon did do more after the Animals, fronting a funk-ish group in the seventies called War that had several hits, including great instrumentals like "Galaxy."

    I really don´t get why no one suggests respectively no one reacts to The Animal´s version of the Rolling Stone´s song "Painted Black"...that is one of the few occasions were the Cover (Animals) is actually better then the Original (Stones)..although the Original is already a big one.
    This is one of the songs beside of "The House of New Orleans" Eric Burdon has to perform everytime on his concerts because his audience demands it.
