      I also love the voice over, because your voice is so soothing! It's also easier to follow along, because the words are distracting and it's stressful to make sure I catch them all, which takes away from watching what you're doing.

      I usually just use really old and damaged brushes and throw them away after . But you could try using acetone or alcohol to removes. Maybe let it sit there for some time. I have heard that works

    hi, how did you cover the backside of the palette with the resin? and do you think it would have been okay not to add the additional gloss varnish?

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the same as the pins. One side at a time. I leave a day in between. I think resin is enough to be honest. Especially if it's used correctly. But I just wanted to add an extra layer of glossiness to the palette

    Hello 😌 This is really beautiful, I especially love the cat's face - it's so cute..! I really like the colour scheme as well. Can I ask, did you use resin/varnish on the bottom of the palette, because it looked like you only varnished the top side? I'm just wondering because if the whole thing wasn't varnished, then couldn't it get wet when you wash it, and reactivate the gouache underneath? Or maybe it's not a problem, I don't know?
    I'm new to gouache and haven't heard of that gouache gloss varnish you used - do you use that to seal gouache paintings on paper, or is it more for sculptures/clay etc..?? 💕🎨🖌💕
    Really lovely idea, by the way, love the matching palette and brush holder. And the great thing about making your own palette is that you can make the wells any size/depth that you want, to suit the work you do. Nice one!

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I actually sealed the backside as well. But i had to wait for the top to dry before i could do that and i didn't film that part. It is completely sealed all around. Otherwise the gouache would surely reactivate and wash off. I have always used the varnish for clay projects but i think you could use it on canvas paintings also. Hope this helps. Thank you ♥

    Thanks for sharing this tutorial, so inspirational, your items turned out so beautiful!! Just wanted to drop a PSA about using resin - if it is a mix that produces VOCs you may want to invest in a respirator mask that has cartridges that filter organic vapors, unfortunately, dust masks do not do protect against those - not trying to be a 'Karen', I have just heard some sad stories about resin exposure and wanted to share.

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @RegstarRogstar
    @RegstarRogstar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about using acrylic paints? I leave them dry a loy bc i forget to wash and now theyre hard to remove from plastic palettes, would it be the same with the varnish?

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't recommend this type of palette for acrylic. Its more for water soluble paints. I am afraid the varnish will not withstand too much scrubbing.

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! The resin is still going strong . The palette is pretty much the same as when I made it. It does get a bit stained from certain watercolors if you leave them on for too long but other then that it's still very much functional

    how to clean up the brush after applyed the resin?

    • @AncaPoraIllustration
      @AncaPoraIllustration  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't found a good method yet to be honest. I just use really old brushes a couple of times and then throw them away. I am guessing you could use isopropyl alcohol for dissolving the resin but your brush might get damaged as well in the process. If not maybe use wooden sticks if you don't want to ruin brushes
