  • ** Shoutout to Mark Yarton for the location **
    This location closed down in November 2021 and used to be a former Jamesway department store. The aisle signs, shelving and register counters are still inside the place. This closed ShopRite could turn into a different grocery store, it has a good potential to be one.

    The ShopRite moved to Matamoras to where the KMart used to be (which you have covered before). Yes this used to be a Jamesway but ShopRite used to be located next door to it where Kohls currently is.

      Yep, that's right. I was thinking to myself, didn't I film that closed Kmart where the ShopRite relocated to? Lol.
      Don't you mean the TJ Maxx in Montague used to be a ShopRite?

    It was dollar tree that went out and moved to the city of port Jervis it’s called montaguuuuuee New Jersey they did not leave for covid shop rite paid the rent for next two years so no other supermarket can go there . Shop rite has been there over twenty years the other stores are staying there for now . These are local people I’m a local person from Otisville New York this is my hometown we love the tristates .we still want local pricing local rents . Altho ShopRite is close by and we go to Matamoras everything is so sad . They have two years to keep this building as is . I hope someone brings this place back to life maybe Trader Joe’s or something .

      Sorry for the pronunciation, it was my first time there lol. Also having an Aldi or Lidl wouldn't be a bad choice either, since they are also supermarket stores. Trader Joe's and Wegmans are also nice too

    Yeah, closed Nov 6th and then the new store in Matamoras opened the 7th with all new stock, they did a week worth of "liquidating" at this location, then trucked out anything left. Shoprite originally was in the TJMaxx storefront, they moved to the Jamesway storefront shortly after it closed as it was bigger. They experimented with a shoprite garden center type situation in the old storefront, and eventually closed that and put the TJMaxx in. This TJMaxx is actually going to be moving with ShopRite to the old Kmart plaza you filmed. So they'll be basically side by side again. I'll try to remember to let you know when the TJMaxx closes.
    Yes the blinds were for covid, they had a plexliglass front panel, and then the plastic behind to try and protect the employees I guess.

      Thanks for the info! I didn't know TJMaxx was moving also to Matamoras. There is a closed Gordmans & Sneaker King at the Westfall Town Center but I don't know where they would put the TJMaxx though

      @@TimurD1905 It's going right next door to the new ShopRite, to the left of Sneaker King. Basically where the old Kmart entrance was. Looks like they're in the process of moving now, opening in Matamoras on May 19, 2022.

      @@TimurD1905 TJMaxx has officially closed in Montague, took down the signage already, I'm sure they'll be pulling all the fixtures pretty soon, wasn't much left in the store on Monday before they closed.

    Looks like they left in a hurry. I agree the building structure itself screams Jamesway. I wonder why they removed the cylinder cores on the interior locks.

    • @TimurD1905
      @TimurD1905  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which cylinder cores are you talking about? By which area of the ShopRite?

    • @metersocket00
      @metersocket00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Looks like at the 3:45 min mark in the entrance vestibule, looks like the s.f.I.c. core was pulled out of the lock cylinder. Not sure if they take them because of key security or something like that.
