kjsf569 You should hear it when its sang by Irishmen....shamrock and few tunes dont make you an Irishman. This lot are mostly English..like all the so called Irish regiments in the British army.
It's actually a Scottish Ballad..but most folks think it's Irish..In fact lots of Scottish Traditional ballads & tunes are classed as Irish when in fact they originated in Scotland.
awesome!!!! i was born in killiney and moved to england at the age of 3 months and then to holland at the age of 10. this is a great tribute to a true dubliner, ronnie drew R.I.P gone but not forgotten i have had the good fortune of watching the dubliners performing live in holland it was a great experience!
That's a fantastic version! Well done to all the performers. I sing with the St' George's Singers and we were part of the massed choir at the St. Patrick's day concert at the Waterfront Hall 2008. We had a choir of almost 100 and three pipers - a fantastic experience.
Passing Through Tell that to the loyalist bigots that burn the Irish Tri colour evey 12th of July....i bet some of these lads done that in their day. They are not Irish....they are British.
Karen Walker I know this is late but! Search for the Regimental Band of the Royal Irish Regiment in Kinnegar, Belfast and email them. They were always very helpful with requests in my time. They should still have the score in their library. I was on that stage too, best band in the British Army.
yes through the news letter music shop, they have DVD's covering the RIR and even the trip to St Lucia,l have got some DVD's myself the band is awesome just a pity those bastards at stormont got them disbanded
We were with the Northern Ireland Territorial Army Staff Band. They are the guys in blue. They're now rebadged as the Royal Irish Regiment band as the Regular Army band was disbanded not too long after this concert :-(
@@oisinclarke3856 Hi Oisin, there was until 2008 but since then they are all Reservists. Around this time there was a lot of Military Bands in the British Army that were restructured or disbanded. I hope this answers your question, if not then feel free to ask again 😊 Happy Christmas
@GaraGambini Seriously thats not what he said. Daniel O'Connell said of him "Just because your born in a stable doesn't make you a horse" He was trying to deny Wellington his Irishness at a public meeting. Wellington never said it. Wellington hadn't a problem with his Irishness. He was an M.P. too for Ireland..
Quite correct, as standard there were several Ard Ri. However the Kings of Tara were conisdered the most legit. Ceremonially, if he did live to rule long enough, he probably would have done something at Tara. If the Druids had been around during his time.
@jim2t6 You should be telling people what they are and what they aren't. Its up to the people to decide their nationality. After all Canadians live in North America but they don't call themselves American. As the Duke of Wellington said on being called Irish: 'if a dog is born in a stable does that mean it is a horse?
james smith At least the Irish Army are Irish....how many Irish are in these Irish regiments? And dont count those Irish flag burning northern traitors...they hate all things Irish.
james smith At least the Irish Army are Irish...and proud to be. These fuckers are loyalists and unionists. They don't even call themselves Irish, unless it suits them.
It's been a while since I played this video, though it is saved to one of my list. And what a pleasure it is to become reacquainted with it.
I'm Italian, I've never been There but I know i'm in love with Ireland!
My newest favorite Irish ballad. What a great musical piece to enjoy.

I still think this is a fantastic arrangement. I absolutely love that song. Thanks for posting.
Simply one of the best renditions with great instrumentals and a fine singer doing the honors.
Last comment was in 2011. Time to update this lovely piece.

Well said mate, they will be in Ballymena on 25 Oct. FAUGH A BALLAGH
The roof lifting moment at 4:22 made the hair on the back of my head stand up. That orchestra is absolutely brilliant, pity about the sub par vocals.
wanderful .
Well Done !!!
Facebook has decided that this has an error and won't let me share it...

I got it from the Northern Ireland Newsletter newspaper music shop ,sorry don't have the details
Do any know who the arranger is and if it is possible to get in touch with them? I know of a group that would be honored to use this arrangement.
Can you post a link to the newsletter music shop? I haven't been able to find a DVD or CD of this event. Tnx.
Scots are great just like the Welsh and Irish pure celt
We don't do things by half do we.
No my friend i also did my time with the colours and served in NI.
I would love to get this arrangement to play with our concert band. Anyone know how I could acquire it?
@KarenWalker try Safe Music Limited.
Try the Royal Irish Regiment band in Kinnegar Camo, Holywood, Belfast directly by email
Considering the Hill of Tara was a ritual site and not the seat of kingship, it's been a bit longer than that. :p
Does anyone know where I can get a CD or DVD copy of this?
@lorgain2 Good.

As the Duke of Wellington said on being called Irish: 'if a dog is born in a stable does that mean it is a horse?
What about the Royal Kings of Tara?
Why are some wearing different tunics?
There hasn't been a King in Tara since Brian.
Well done lads. Be safe from. The you usa

These are the very people who if asked would tell you they aren't IRISH....they are british. The song and their traditions are stolen from Ireland.
