This song reminds me of my recent spiritual path. I was almost brainwashed into believing that the Ego Self was sabotaging and hateful. I was taught that it could not love. And then a very intense experience happened at a workshop that somehow suddenly allowed me to communicate with the Ego. We “spoke” all evening and by the next day we were best of friends. When I attempted to relay this information to my fellow circle of likeminded individual friends, none of them really believed me and about 300 of them undfriended me. I continued to connect with my Ego and have reached some crazy ass spiritual heights simply by embracing all of myself, including and especially my Ego. Before, I HATED my existence on this planet. Now I love it. So “Think for yourself” is SO important. The bashing of the Ego is incredibly indoctrinated into some minds. So much so that it is causing war within. It’s so important to create unity with all aspects of self.

personally, i've been of the "don't KILL the ego, DEAL with the ego" opinion for some time - though i havent yet learned how to do it - and i also think it is very much connected to, if not the same exact thing, as Jung's teachings on "embracing the shadow".

Ego is friend. All they want is to protect the concious. Being schizophrenic practically forced me to accept this. All parts of us are important and valid. What we seem to be missing as humans is balance bewteen all those aspects.
Saw Tool in Denver in May 2024 with my 2 grown sons. Been a fan since the late 80's. It was EPIC. Because it was with my boys, it was very special for me. We listened to this during their early years.
