Enjoyed that Will thanks. I did look at that one when pondering it against the October one. Must be tough pacing a race off feel, but great job and still a solid time - you made it look easy 😃💪
@@TheWu yeah they do that 8am tricky start at Edinburgh too, when the full starts at 10am. Considering how to get there is too early, unless you have a pricy start line hotel
Well done Will! Glad you're enjoying races again. No pressure no time, just experience the fun atmosphere without all the technicality! Also I'm wondering where you stored your sweaty smelly race vest if it hadn't been washed since the last race 🤣
Looks like a right dirty day there. I might do this one some day. I did the full MCR marathon but I would be coming in from Dublin so not sure if worth the journey.
It's a funny race the Great Manchester Run - I've run the past two (was there on Sunday also) and PB'd both times, but it's so undulating it doesn't feel like a PB friendly course when running it! Lots of congestion at the beginning given there's only two waves which I think makes it a bit harder to get out from the crowds. Other than that it's pretty well run!
It must have felt weird, running without the Garmin, looks like your race was wet, we got soaked doing a 1 mile warm up about 1030 but the 10K race was dry. Knocked 3.5 minutes off my GVA time, think I’m on the way back😊
@@TheWu Thanks Will, I’ve never run without my Garmin, I can’t forget it as I wear it 24/7😂Used to run using iPhone/Strava in the early days of running 2019/2020😊
Great vid, helps us who are planning to run it see what it's really like. Ignore the prick comment about the camera. Anyway, where did you get your soar vest from? And why is a guy with a Mancunian accent supporting that rubbish team?
It's sometimes good to run watchless, although you could probably have done with the data to look at. I don't think anyone's ever shouted at us for Vlogging a race. Sad man.
Yea it was a panic when I realised I forgot but I just thought let’s just use it as gaining experience to run freely. The official 1:40 pacer also shouted at me for filming him. He was running the opposing way and I was just getting some footage of the runners. I didn’t appreciate his manner to be honest so I found him on social a couple days later and messaged them after and he back peddled and was really friendly in the messages…. I didn’t include it in the vlog just out of courtesy I guess as it’s obvious he was mardy being filmed.
How come you always get idiots yelling stuff at you? As Goggins said, 'You will never in life meet a hater that's doing better than you.' ..says it all. Hope the foot has healed properly!
So sad the runner died in this race. Watching you line up, he was still alive.... I was watching this race before mine....& went to the finish.....where I witnessed him drop.... 😞
'You can run and enjoy yourself. Prick!' - The WU '24. Couldn't have put it better myself mate!
Haha glad you enjoyed it.
“You can run and enjoy yourself.. prick” That killed me off 🤣🤣
😅
Just cruising... to a 1:25. Legend.
Well sort of hard cruising lol
1:25:32 and you say you were just chilling. Wish I could chill that fast!!
Well probably not chilling, I was more like hard cruising 😅
well done mate, made it look easy keep up with the vlog love it
Thanks Charlie!
Well done William! Didn’t know you would be there…. Missed you again! 🤣🤣
Hope you had a good race.
@@TheWu indeed as you may of seen from my vlog of the day?
Good man, pleased to see you are a Liverpool fan. Love the channel mate 👍

It’s ok but it’s quite pricey for a half marathon. Oh and the very early start !
@@TheWu yeah they do that 8am tricky start at Edinburgh too, when the full starts at 10am. Considering how to get there is too early, unless you have a pricy start line hotel
@RunThePlanet my mate Paul paid like £170 for the hotel! Brutal

Haha thanks mate. It was in a little wash bag but just never washed. 😅

Don’t think it’s worth it tbh. I’m not sure I’ll do it for a good few years.
'Cracking video as always - superb effort by you all
Cheers man.
🤯I would panic without me old garmin😂 good run the Wu!
Yea we defo rely on them heavily. Was quite interesting to run without it though!
Good to see your bro!
He’s going Valencia with me too!
Im doing this next year cant wait roll on the intense training 🏃♀️💪🔥🔥 its my first one ☺️
Well done for signing up! Hope you find it a great experience and the journey training for it. First one and not the last for sure.
🎉Well done Wu🏃🏻♂️
Great time👌🏼
Thanks! 😃

Yea I wouldn’t say it’s that fast. There’s better courses for Pb attempts. Cheaper too!

Yea definitely hard running “naked” as I’m not very good at pacing to feel either. I’ll be catching up on your video later.
@@TheWu Thanks Will, I’ve never run without my Garmin, I can’t forget it as I wear it 24/7😂Used to run using iPhone/Strava in the early days of running 2019/2020😊
Do you wear a water carrier or just take drinks handed along route
I normally don’t carry water for a half unless it’s super hot. Water from the stations is usually fine for half marathons.
Great. Trying to get into this training lark, so many different approaches
Yea just go with what makes you comfortable. Test and see how you feel with and without carrying water for certain distances.
Thanks. Got to get into routine of running for long distances first 😊
Any suggestions on approach or plans
Impressive time considering you weren't pushing it! 👏🏻🎉🎊
That bridge looked dodgy 😬🧊
Thanks man, was still a hard effort but I never tried to push too hard. Just couldn’t be bothered on the day.
Quality running and looked like a fantastic course, running without a watch is a tough job 😂
Thanks yea I’m terrible at pacing too.
Made it look easy, Will. Well done 👍🏻🏃♂️ Is Derby a faster course?
Derby is definitely faster however it’s normally really sunny and hot!
My club, Mornington Chasers! 💪🏼
👍🏽
What did you get out of that run ? What was the purpose of your run ?
a good time? fun?
@@chadmaison4220 it’s not a confrontational question, just wondering what he’s building up too ? Or as you say just fun 👍
@@derekpugh5457 I wasn't being confrontational either! Tone just doesn't pass well on type
Just a event I wanted to try to see if it was any good. Not sure I would do it again tbh it’s quite pricey!
@@TheWu Always always use the £10 off vouchers for Great Run events. I use multiple email addresses
I don't think it was a fast course. How on earth did you manage a 1:25 running easy, crazy level of fitness.
Yea definitely not a super flat course. I know much better places for a fast PB effort.

Hi
Thanks for the comments.
I got the soar vest years ago from their official site but they don’t sell this design anymore.
@@TheWu thanks, looks mint (apart from the smell after leaving it unwashed 😂😂😂)

@TheWu yeah I've had it a couple of times at parkruns. People saying they don't want to be on film. The vast majority are positive though

Oh yes I found out after the run a few days later. Really scary as it seems quite common to hear.
I had no idea someone died doing the half, that’s really sad, sobering too😢
