Mack attempts to go sub-4 during the Manchester Marathon 2024. Will he go under 4 hours or will he hit the wall? Couch to 50K: • Couch to 50K - From Pa... My Strava: / strava
Well done Mack!! Smashed it, especially with feeling crap 💪 I put my faith in my Garmin Pace pro at 3:59. Got in 03:59:41, my first sub 4.🎉 Great vids in this block 🙌
Ah, very well done!! My watch measured 1KM long last year and 400m long last year, so I really had to factor in a bit of a buffer when it came to the pace. Well done again!!
I finished literally 2 seconds ahead of you! And my Garmin was half a mile out on the course markers too and so I was struggling with the maths from early on! Always aim for a sub 4 but I think that was my proudest sub 4 I have done . Well done for yours!
Great stuff mate hoping to get a sub 4 next year, was actually in the start pack with you but had crazy leg cramps so had to hold back, so much support though!
Brilliant videos. Watched all the Manc prep ones in prep for my first one in Manc, and the Alt Hill one was great including the fluid advice!! Glad you hit your sub 4 target!
Hi Mack, just came across your channel :) Huge congrats on your sub 4 at Manchester Marathon and overcoming the challenges on the day. I hope you've been recovering well!
Delighted for you mate! How on earth you found the strength to speed up at the end is massive. You won't be the first or last person to switch something round on race day. In the end, it wasn't the worst decision in the world as it seems like you fuelled well considering you felt so rough!
Thanks, Andy! That part of the marathon is just so tough, with poisonous doubt filling the brain and it feeling so physically impossible to move quicker. I’m proud that I found something and I’m confident you’ll do the same when the demons start knocking at Newport. Line ‘em up and knock ‘em down, mate! It was all very touch-and-go Saturday night and Sunday morning. Not my ideal preparation but we control the controllables and roll the dice on the rest. The caffeine move was a bold choice and the portaloos were getting more and more alluring as I got closer to the end…
Love this review! Definitely agree with everything you said about certain quiet areas and parts where you just wanted to run faster, and that Altrincham hill was deadly 😂 massive well done for getting the sub-4 despite not feeling great, huge respect!!! 🙌👏👏
Oh man that was awesome!! Congrats. Been there chasing sub 4 only to have it slowly and painfully slip away in those last few miles. Well done in holding on and pushing through. This almost makes me want to attempt it again. Almost… 😂
Well done, great effort especially if feeling bad. Sounds like the pacer turned up at just the right point! (Came in under my 3:45 goal so really happy myself, especially after a crap Saturday and sudden overheat at 40k!)
Yeah, I'm not usually a fan of running with the pacer as it's often busy, but there were very few people left with him at that point, so it was a neat little pack. Very well done on the sub-3:45, especially with the going getting tough at 40K. Those KMs pass in slow motion at that point!
Well done! Goal met. I did Manchester too! I ran a 3:41:24. Ran with a friend and stayed together the whole race Doing chester in October and going for sub 3:15
Well done Mack - That was my first marathon on Sunday - The support was superb - Managed 3.46.44 - Was aiming for sub 3.45 which is what I had trained for, but cramp at 38k and 40k put paid to that (need more electrolytes next time :))- Still massively happy with it for a first attempt and so happy I did it in Manchester - The locals were just amazing! Well done on the sub 4 - It was hard out there in the second half and rather warmer than expected! I'll be back to run that again at some point for sure...
Yeees, very well done! Solving cramp seems to be a constant challenge for me and these runs. Never happens during training, but those final moments of the 26.2 can get grim.
@Mack.Tracks yep, first time I've experienced cramp like that running...but my previous longest run before Sunday was 20 miles so was into the unknown. Was happy to get going again after each leg decided it had had enough...thought I was done when the first cramp happened...just told my legs to shut up and got on with it though 😂
Haha mate I was the one at the hill. You literally finished a few second faster than me. Somehow you went past me but I literally don’t remember seen you pass. Great effort for sure well done 👏🏻

Really proud of you! I can only hope to join you one day :)
Thanks for being there. My mushed brain was determined to get to you, haha... x
Great stuff mate hoping to get a sub 4 next year, was actually in the start pack with you but had crazy leg cramps so had to hold back, so much support though!
Well done in getting it done! I got hit with bad cramps at 38K last marathon and couldn’t believe how painful they were.
Brilliant videos. Watched all the Manc prep ones in prep for my first one in Manc, and the Alt Hill one was great including the fluid advice!! Glad you hit your sub 4 target!
Thank you! I hope you had a great experience!
great stuff man it was me djing when you came through the m60 enjoyed djing as a 13 year old. great stuff
Ahh, great stuff! That part is a real highlight!
Very well executed there Mack. A slight fade at 30k is fine. You finished strongly and must take a lot of confidence from that.
Thanks! And thank you for doing what you do, as your content has been very helpful and inspirational.
Massive congratulations on the sub 4. Couldn’t have been easy feeling like crap. Well done!
Thanks very much!
Well done! The last 500m felt so long and my watch was showing the wrong distance. Great effort! 🎉
Last year my watch measured an extra full KM… so it was a definite improvement haha… Well done again on your success!
@@Mack.Tracks That's a big difference but just happens. Thank you. And you. You did really well!
Well done on such a cracking run and video, was thoroughly enjoyable and we are so glad you dipped under 4 🙌🙌 Keep it up
Thanks! And well done again to you both!
Well done Mack! I learn something everyday, cramp fix from Amazon 😱
Thank you!
Hahah... I don't think they'll be sponsoring me anytime soon!
Great job! I watched your Altrincham hill video and that prepared me to respect the hill! Congrats on your sub 4 I came in at 3:50!
Very well done!
Hi Mack, just came across your channel :) Huge congrats on your sub 4 at Manchester Marathon and overcoming the challenges on the day. I hope you've been recovering well!

Loved the video. It really captures how tough a Marathon is. Fantastic time and will to get over that line 👏👏👏👏
I’m glad you enjoyed it, cheers!

Thanks! And a huge well done on your performance! I spotted you in Donato's video, too, and your form was looking so good and strong towards the end.
Great work Mack! Well done mate - belter of a result! 👏👏👏
Cheers, Freddy!

Thanks! And congrats again to you, too! Now to find the next challenge…
Well done buddy. I did see your Altrincham hill video and I must admit, it did help me. So thank you.
Excellent! Glad to be of service. It was good to see so much support once the hill had been climbed!
Oh man that was awesome!! Congrats.

Ah man, thanks! The marathon sure is a love it/hate it relationship!

I was in Sale cheering everyone on at 11miles and 22 miles. Everyone did amazing! And well done!!!
Thank you for the support on course. It really does give runners a big boost!
Well done! Very good job Mack👏
Thank you so much!
Well done Mack 🎉🎉 Sub4 in the bag !! Sterling effort !!
Thanks! Your Manchester coverage definitely helped!
fantastic running buddy! Following the best well known advice for running... change everything out on race day haha!
Chaos, haha, but we got there!
Well done, Mack!
Thanks!
Awesome job, great video style too 👍
Thanks! I really couldn’t run and talk much on the day, so felt that this was the best alternative. Cheers!
Well done! Goal met.

Doing chester in October and going for sub 3:15
Ahh, very well done! I’m eyeing up Chester, but not 100% sure yet…
Well done mate!
Thanks!

Trying to work out times while running is the hardest thing in the world to do 😂😂 Congratulations on the sub 4 🎉
Haha, thank you, thank you!!
Haha mate I was the one at the hill. You literally finished a few second faster than me. Somehow you went past me but I literally don’t remember seen you pass. Great effort for sure well done 👏🏻
Ahh, good stuff! Great to bump into you!
Congrats! I somehow managed a 2:54:29 after aiming for 3:00:00, first marathon as well! I’m still very much dead
That’s outrageous! Well done!
I blew up at the hill. I was on for 3:25 @4:50/km for the first half but finished 3:37 @ 5:20/km 😅… can’t win them all.
Ah man, good job giving it a crack, though. Fantastic time, nevertheless!
