    Played and coached wing t and straight t for 50 years. This is well coached offense with a lot of heart and talent.

      While good, definitely not. Watch some wilmington (PA) Greyhounds football. DLS as well, all very superior with the WT. D1 Kids left and right in an old school system, makes for insane film and creates headaches beyond imagination for coaches. Trust me.

    • @joblinboom9221
      @joblinboom9221  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! When I was deciding on an offensive system to run as a head coach, I always thought back to what I hated to see when I was a linebacker. The spread? I loved seeing that because I could track the ball much easier. There weren't any confusing keybreakers to worry about.

    • @davidthomason9476
      @davidthomason9476 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tubby Raymond and Ted Kempski along with others created and modified the Wing-T in the ‘50s and ‘60s way before Markham thought about his version of the DOUBLE Wing.

    What’s the difference between Buck and belly?

    • @joblinboom9221
      @joblinboom9221  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traditionally, buck refers to fullback trap (with a fake of the sweep to follow). Belly is more complicated. It can mean different things to different coaches, but for most wing-t coaches, it refers to a halfback leading the fullback off-tackle.

    • @GM-tt9lk
      @GM-tt9lk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joblinboom9221 got it, so in you opinion belly/down series would be harder to install vs buck to a group of 10 year olds?

    • @joblinboom9221
      @joblinboom9221  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GM-tt9lk Hmmm...I'm a little out of my realm here as I have only ever coached high school players, but I would think belly/down series would be easier to install at that level because instead of a three-part movement (trap, sweep, waggle) in the buck series, it would/could be a two-part movement, i.e., belly with belly pass, and both plays are run to the same side. The belly pass, in particular for younger kids, should be easier because there are only two routes, both of which occur right in front of the QB.

    • @madD8845
      @madD8845 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Belly/down or 80 series is easier to install with that age group. Buck can be installed but it’s a lot more labor intensive. I’ve coached Wing t for over 5 years and I always install down and belly first. Some years I never installed the buck series because we didn’t have the personnel. Jet or rocket are good alternatives for younger teams.

    • @mattpavlatos
      @mattpavlatos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can install the buck sweep stuff to one side and the belly stuff to the other.
      Worked great for many of my 10 and 12u teams

    Are there any reasons that running backs do 2-point stand instead of 3-point?

    • @joblinboom9221
      @joblinboom9221  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Better vision to read the line of scrimmage. Also, running backs are going to come up out of their stance as they approach the line of scrimmage anyway. The only players that need to be in a three point stance are those on the line of scrimmage. Same reason you would never have linebackers in a three point stance. In my opinion, the only reason fullbacks are still in the three-point is tradition.

    Playing offences that run wing t is a pain. We played the state champs and they ran this and we got beat 62 to 0

    • @joblinboom9221
      @joblinboom9221  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you mind if I ask the state and school? Of course, just because an offense runs the wing t doesn't automatically mean they will be great, or even good, but I do believe that it has the potential to make a talented team a juggernaut. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    And *ONLY* works if everyone doesn’t miss their blocking assignments. One whiff and it gets blown up. Also you must have hard working players. I’ve seen Buck fail miserably as the players were too lazy and stupid to pull it off.
