Facts. 2007-2014 was the last golden age of skateboarding. From Fully Flared to the end of 2014. It was golden and I am glad to have skate during these times as well as met pros like Shane O'Neill (twice).
Something about these older battles are just way more fun to watch. I feel like they put in way more effort and also have way more fun than these newer games. The new ones are so quiet and boring and they read the rules for half the video.
It's because the games nowadays are so fuckin serious and because of that, it makes it kind of awkward and cringey. Like it's some huge, important competition. Lol it's just skate. It's meant to be fun and it's taken wayyy too seriously nowadays.
It's the stance jerking that's so prelevant now (although it was here as well). Instead of seeing different tricks, it's four variations of every freakin' trick, just trying to get the opponent to mess up. Kickflip, switch kickflip, nollie kickflip, fakie kickflip, then the same thing with heelflip, then tre, then bigspin... it's exhausting. Just do something cool and different.
Lmao can't agree more. These both are just too popular and too mainstream so most of us know that Shane's goofy and Cole's regular. But their switch game are pretty much better than the "no stance guy".
Chris Cole during the Nine Club interview: says he stopped enjoying BATB because kids fire up their special tricks right at the beginning instead of playing a gentlemen game starting with basic tricks. Also Chris Cole: immediately brings Shane to T with impossible tricks and doesn't do any basic one.
both guys can land everything and to avoid a never ending game they gotta bring the heat from the start...x games used to do game of skate but the battles were never ending so they stopped doing it because it would often go for like 20 minutes per battle haha and shane actually has some x games skate battles
Yeeaah but then again as heard from the start they are/were really closely touch with each other so you can do that with your friend. But with someone you don't know it's way differend.
@@AA-lf8xo maybe it's new to them that people don't want to go? I feel like it was and still should be kind of an honor to get invited, back in the day they prolly didn't wait till they confirmed either, but them influencers are all b*tchy about it and only think about what's the best for them.
Best Berrics park ever. They should’ve placed old Berrics parks in different locations through the country and do local am BATB contests for people to get recognition.

Great match! They really should edit it more like this with longer games.... and kinda drag out the shorter games. It would be cool if they were all like 10 mins or 12 mins or whatever as long as all the videos are equal length. Then you’d never have to worry if you see the video times.
the old berrics just had this chill vibe. 2009-2014 was a magical time for skating.
Literally then 2015+ seems like it got a lot of hype from people who try to monetize it lol

1999-2005 was magical
The internet ended it all
@@nnoffuture Instagram ruined it. If it wasn't for the internet, I would've never had most of the videos from Limewire lol.
These older BATB games are still bangers
this is old af.. why is it postd today

Shane got to T, then went fuckin super sayan mode. He's got the clutch gene lol
Until he competes then he loses that gene.
Damn...

That 540 flip was so 🔥
Oh yea?
BROOOO! That match was so Lit! Good job Shane and Chris. They was throwing hard tricks out the gate lol

Agree 🤝
It's all because of the editing bro the new one is cringe
As usual some FIRE skateboarding performance🔥
You know its gonna be FIRE as soon as you see those two names
fr
True.
Watch chris cole vs Dennis Busenitz in BATB 2
@@cheezuschrist yeah!!! Ya know what, im gonna binge watch Cole's battles
That switch flip at 3:01 was impeccable, had to watch in like 20 times at 0.25x playback speed.
I would expect nothing less from Shane
@@Quinch420 malto sw flip this year wins
That’s why cole lost
Just saying - it’s way harder to tell what stance either of these dudes actually are over people out there claiming to have “no stance”
🤜🤛
In my opinion Jerry Hsu gets the closest, but you can always look at the shoulders and see what stance someone really is.
Had to remember midgame, but I always remember Shane is goofy
Lmao can't agree more. These both are just too popular and too mainstream so most of us know that Shane's goofy and Cole's regular. But their switch game are pretty much better than the "no stance guy".
Shots fired!!! But fr man.
This match was insane, Kudos to Shane coming back like that, Absolute Legends

Hands down my two favorite skaters, also the old berrics has a real childhood feeling to it
That's not even the original berrics! I remember in 2008 they had an even smaller one.
This batb is a perfect encapsulation of what the berrics has become
that’s too easy for you to say, when we haven’t even gotten through the first round yet.

This easily shits on anything we've seen at this year's batb.
Clearly didn't watch Malto v Pudwill, might not be as good but was definitely up there
Hence why it's a classic
Thank you for pointing out the obvious
What do you expect from Chris Cole and Shane O'Neil?
Except Cody Cepeda vs Shane. That match is nutsss
two of the best flatground artists. 4 min game 😭 prod vs carlos, 10 min game
There were some super quick cuts in this game tho, and all the tricks were bangers
I think that prod v Carlos game was low-key staged like the Malto Vs Donovan match
@@_TheZipper_ factsssss
@@jamesbest9806 i can see that
Prod vs Carlos was totally staged, I never watched it again.
That frontside big spin from Chris was beautiful. the way he caught it was so nice
I feel like they trying to overshadow the fact that they possibly didn't get all the guys they invited. The lineup was just too awesome to be true lol
I mean it’s pretty difficult to organize something of this scale so maybe we should just appreciate the thoughtfulness being put into this

These are real classics, remember watching them before going out to skate back in the day
the throwback videos are awesome, no apology needed!
These were the best times, remember skating daily because of these ❤️
I thought that this was batb12 when I clicked
Same
its funny how people enjoy these classic battles way more than the new battles hahaha
I miss x games, game of skate those battles would go forever like 20 minutes
Damn Kerry Getz man his kickflip and khaki pants were so buttery a Og who doesn't get talked about enough or the credit he deserves
Shout out to Philly
I always remember his DVS part where he had that angry beginning scene haha
Damn these throwback games are just way more satisfying
thats a battle at the berrics. straight to the hard tricks
Both had the same impact on their eras of prime
Bro Cole was huge tho
2 legends playin a game of skate couldnt ask for more
Honestly down for more re-uploads, some of these games were legendary.
Damn, easy to forget how many great games have gone down over the years. Siiick game between two absolute technicians.
Why aren't games this Good ! I lost it ! This was Awsome!

Back when the berrics was tight
Who would you rather play S.K.A.T.E. against: Shane O'Neill or Chris Cole? 👇
chris can miss tricks like nollie flips, nollie fs flips but shane got every trick on lock, super poped, good looking af
i’m losing either way lol
They're both legends but imma go with Shane

The best video on TH-cam. Both my favorite skaters!!!

Cole has some of the most fire games ever.
Always a banger man. But it's also because he had great competition or opponents.

Insane
I remeber , sitting in front of the computer with my friends , waiting for batb , around 2009 2013
Two GIANTS in the game
Battle at the berries better than the Olympics
the legend himself Kerry Getz. His pro model DVS shoes were the best. BRING EM BACK!!
Shane is so insanely precise. It’s like he skates in grid mode.

I’m in no rush. Play the games when you get a chance, I’ll watch.
