      Agreed. Medium heat? Low heat? High heat? Who decided to make it standard to be so damned vague. I've been cooking professionally for at least 10 years, and I've always had to go by feel/experience. This is much better. Precision.

      Agreed. I believe it is because the masses of video producers don't actually know what they're talking about. The good vids and pro people simply get lost in the ocean of ignorance.

      Yep. That's because everyone and their mother thinks they're a pro chef until they realize how important smoke point and temperature regulation is

    Wow I was sent here by God because I always felt like cooking was hard and it’s really all about temperature lol I just need a few thermometers I never know if my food is done well like tenderness done and not dry or why I make a meal perfectly once and the next time I try and make the same meal it’s literally trash I’m sorry but this really blew me how simple yet how much about cooking people think they know and don’t even check the food temperature

    Nice
    So many videos using drops of water etc. Ugh.
    I just bought a surface thermometer like that recently and checked temps ag different settings on my electric stove.
    Medium is 450 or so.
    That's basically entering the high heat range.

    Infrared thermometer, even quicker

    • @RamblinRick_
      @RamblinRick_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I'm assuming when this video was made four years ago, the infrared thermometer wasn't common and probably expensive. Now (2018), they're dirt cheap.

    • @neosolipsist1016
      @neosolipsist1016 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Infrared thermometers are NOT accurate on shiny stainless steel pans, they are calibrated to the "perfect black body" emission of heat.
      They work great on outdoor grills or cast iron pans.

    • @Nclght
      @Nclght 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RamblinRick_ 4 years ago, laser thermometers were relatively cheap. Not nearly as expensive as my culinary laser thermometer I purchased over 10 years ago. I've purchased a multitude of laser thermometers over the years and their prices 4 years ago isn't that different from today's prices. But it is imperative, in this situation, that cast iron pans be used to eliminate any emissivity problems.
