Is A Golf Simulator Easier Than Real Life Golf? SHOCKING RESULTS!

- Today we set out to answer the question: what is easier, Sim Golf or Golf in real life? I've had this unique idea on the books for a long time, and I am excited to bring it to TH-cam exclusively on Muskrat Links Golf! What do you guys think the results will be if we play the exact same holes from the same tees on the Sim then again in real life? I know what my answer will be based on how I play on the Muskrat Links Sim Tour, but these results are very cool!

Should definitely do more of these
Would be fun to try it with other NH courses and see the results!
Never saw anyone do a video like this. Great job my guy.
@@jwfriend6952 Glad you enjoyed my friend, I want to refilm this one again with a new course this year!!
Great concept for a video and REALLY well done!
Hey thank you I appreciate it! 🙏
This was a great video and comparison from SIM to IRL. My only thoughts are (as many people know as well) the golf swing and game can change from day to day, one day good one day not so good. I do think SIM is easier for sure just because of hitting off the same turf each time and not really in the rough or bunkers. I'd say it's probably like 4-5 stroke difference from the two. But overall enjoyed the video! Good work!
@@aj10golfer Thanks for the comment and welcome to the Team! Having played in lots of Sim leagues and tournaments in e6 and TGC 2019, my HCP is a 6.8 IRL and +3 in e6. The massive gimmies obviously play the biggest role, having exact yardages and ability to see greens from above certainly helps too along with the factors you mentioned. I wonder if there are any folks who play better IRL than on a Sim, probably not if they Sim is set up properly haha!
@@muskratlinksgolf Absolutely, I would tend to agree with you, the gimmes definitely help lol... i have my setup and have it set up the same way with the 6' gimmes, mainly to save time and get through a round quicker. I'm a 2.4 IRL, haven't really kept track of what I would be by playing on the SIM, but would assume it would be better for sure. There are just so many variables on the course that it is near impossible for a simulator to replicate. Either way golf on the SIM or IRL is challenging hahaha!
This was the best video ever👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed! 🙌
Hey Muskrat, I’m in NH too. Would like to see you on the links some time! Campbell Scottish is good too!
@@baisden1 Good to see more of the NH crowd! 🤝 I like the concept of Campbell's, it's rare to get greens bigger than a kitchen table in NH 😂
Nice video with good info, gained you a sub. I was wondering how much easier the sim can/will be, compared to RL. Just starting down the sim rabbit hole with an outside net and R10 launch monitor. Will have to check out your sim build in your garage as that's where I see my journey leading to, possibly. I'm on the high side of 20+ handicapper currently, hoping to get it into the teens in my retirement...
Thank you and good luck on your golf mission! There are certainly ways to make the Sim easier or harder as well, but getting a launch monitor is going to improve your game no matter what. Even if you don't see immediate results, you are going to be a more knowledgeable golfer in terms of learning your game: carry numbers, spin rates, wedge charts, etc. Best of luck with your build! 🎉
Just having the net for a week seemed to help the last time out, that or I just had a good day, time will tell. Fewer errant shots and a string of 4 pars to finish. Will be nice to have feedback from the monitor to help me further. @@muskratlinksgolf
Those grid lines are a huge help too. Would be very cool to know IRL if a putt is precisely 11” downhill.🧐
Absolutely! Just being able to see the double breakers to tell which part of the putt breaks more is huge! I probably lost about 5 strokes putting out on the real course 😭
Only played at Campbell's once and really liked it. Curious how many NH courses have been built out for sim use
Not too many on TGC 2019, at least those listed on the approved LiDAR list! More than enough to have some fun though!
My man. I’ve never seen you stroke the flatstick like that. Great video tho! ⛳️
Absolute disasterclass out on the real course! Couldn't putt into the ocean from boat today 😭 redeemed by the Sim performance though!
@@muskratlinksgolf 😂😂😂 yes you did and you know I’m happy you’re back in the sim bay. Love that content
Dude, you're good.
Haha thank you my friend, I'm only a 6HCP, nothing crazy 🙃
That's cool comparison subbed ,some excellent editing work Sir ! Good looking course too.
How do you like TG2019 .?
It uses it's own ball flight algorithm that isn't perfect and has a few odd physics choices, but it is unmatched when it comes to course selection and possibilities so it's the best choice by a landslide for me as a content creator. Glad you enjoyed!!
Hello
👋
nice video bro, 6ft. gimmies ?? 3 foot sounds better
@@rubenmartinez8659 Standard official tournament settings for the Sim. I would do no gimmies if I could, readings just get super squirrelly inside 10' and the skytrak is one of the best LMs for putting, most other LMs use a 15' gimmie or auto-putting for their official comps.
@@muskratlinksgolf yea I have ST with the Golf Club, I hate putting on it
Not really like for like. You can do a fly over and see hazards on the SIM, so you should have known about (and avoided hitting into) the hazard on 14 in real play.
@@JerryStarmer-mr8tw That's exactly what I had planned, playing the Sim first then taking that knowledge to the course, but when I got there, the 9 I played on the Sim was closed for a league so we had to play the other 9 and go back and play the Sim after. I would certainly have had the 14 hazard knowledge if I played it on the Sim first. Id love to do this video again if I can find another NH course on TGC by an experienced designer 🙌
@@muskratlinksgolf It was a great video anyways, well done. 👍
@JerryStarmer-mr8tw Much appreciated my friend! 😃
that was god content. well done.
@@tobiassrensen4213 Thank you my friend, it was a fun one to film!
