That’s incredible about the voluntary fees in Scotland. So if you put a £10er in an honesty box it goes to a rich foreigner? I can understand if the Scottish Government pocket the money but that’s ridiculous.
I read it 3 times to make sure I'd read it correctly. I couldn't understand what I was being told. Then googled the councils voluntarily scheme Scotland and it came up on Google. Said you can use council sports centres for free. So how does that work. Yes it's misleading to the public.
Thanks for taking the time to gather those FOI, it's certainly very interesting, and goes to show that we as motorhome owners are being unfairly treated, and ripped off.
So many have said they don't mind paying the voluntary Scottish parking. I wonder how they feel now. Not a penny going to the Scottish people. This is why the Scottish people are pissed off.
Do you know what the biggest disappointment is? Why aren't other so-called bigger 'vanlife TH-camrs/social media influencers' trying to influence people within those local areas that's being affected by these overnight bans to oppose them? To encourage those who are local to write to your local councillors/councils opposing such decisions and explaining the economic impact it will have upon their local businesses during these tough times? ( like you and I have, and still doing!) They seem to show no or very little interest in this or what's happening around them in what benefits them greatly! But yet happy to show you the next solar generator that nobody needs!"🤦"..... No doubt they will jump on the bandwagon when it's too late and channel their energy into complaining about it after the horse has bolted! They, too, should be acting / showing you support on this now! And get their heads out of the sand and back into reality! Good work, Mark! 👌👍....
Cheers mate. I felt like I was fighting this alone yesterday. Then I received more support from messages like you you've sent. I've decided to ask that very question in my next video, but I wonder how many of these so called big channel full time vanlifers really are full time cos they don't seam to notice being kicked off park ups, yet they make a living from van life.
@Roadshome I agree, bud. It's the very least they could do! As many were happy to share such locations within their posts or videos, adding to the problem. But where are they now? Fighting against such bans? They appear to have gone mute 🤔.....
@Iveavan yeah well tomorrow's video from us will upset a few people I call friends. As you say they make their fame and fortune from selling vanlife and it's now under threat.
@spudman869 In all fairness, they do need to start talking about this to make their followers aware of what's happening all around the UK, so it could be fought / challenged at local level. The saltburn overnight parking ban is a prime example, where the ban was overturned off the back of a 1,820 signed petition organised by the locals, who recognised the potential economic impact that their overnight ban could have within their community. Curruntly, the awareness and interest is low, on what is now an 'rapid increase of overnight parking bans throughout the UK' ( under the excuse of the 1960s 6mt rule for campsites ), I know how Mark feels when he shares, and finds a lack of interest & support, as one person can not fight this alone! By them not supporting or making awareness is a disservice to their followers on something that benefits everyone greatly.
Well that is totally shocking about Scotland. At least they were honest enough to tell you. Although we all already know that nothing nothing from any of the countries charges goes back into the local community. Thanks for doing all this research Mark. Well done
Wonder how many electric vehicle fires there have been in the same amount of time. Do the have restrictions on their parking? Well done Mark, I've used the FOI Act myself & can't help but think that Blair seriously regrets allowing it.
They told me there may be costs, but I got all the information without any. I wonder if electric vehicles will have a 6m distance between them for H&S be interesting 🤔
It's pre emptive, they don't have to wait for a fire to happen before they cut the risk of there being a fire. That's always been the case when it comes to fire regulations.
They don't want people in private cars let alone living in a van driving anywhere you want.A quick story I used to use a council carpark in Doncaster to do banking a few years ago that had coin meters,I turned up one day and it had changed to contactless payments therefore penalising me from parking as I did not have a smart phone and still don't, my point is everyone will be penalised in to compliance as time goes on.
Been telling folk that for years. He does not own the land but owns the company that owns the rights to NC500 the brand. Most of Scotland lands are owned by foreigners that is why the LRA came about.
I live in Morecambe, I travel the prom every day - never seen one campervan fire, never heard of any either. The council is working towards the WEF's Net Zero, Agenda 21/30, to precision. Mobility, as you know, must be removed from the peasant. Today, they attack campervans, tomorrow, it shall be cars. I have a record shop in town, we have many visitors who stay in vans on the prom - yet, our council, continue to lie, and claim the visitors do not spend money in town - insanity and lies. No surprises here - useless idiots sit on council doing the bidding for their WEF over-lords!
I've said the same, once the cars have gone it's cars. I'm to old to go back to bike and this weather isn't good for it. Lycra isn't going to look good on me 🙃
Many small towns in Australia provide low cost RV parks because they benefit from the money people spend there. If you get slugged when you visit cities and tourist areas too bad, just keep away from them. They don't want vans clogging all the streets.
Its all down to the jobs worth in the councils with nothing to do , and love to see people in misery, so they show that they can control, they need to keep there large wages and a fantastic pension , we are the twats that pay for them shites
The thing that will most influence the amount of support for the various anti van life measures being brought in all over the country, is the large number of vanlife videos, most of which are certainly not going to leave a favourable impression on councillors who have to vote on these measures. What you have done in relation to the FOI requests is a very good idea, but I would guess support from other vanlfers will have been pretty much zero? Of course when overnighting is restricted to licenced sites, there will be loads of whining and moaning, but then it will be too late of course.
Your right. I'm getting very little to no help at all. At least for myself I can say I've done as much as I can do. And your also right in saying there will be a lot of moaning from the people who wouldn't give any support. People in vanlife have the attitude of I'm alright fook you jack. They are killing there own way of life. So what next. Just enjoy what I'm doing until it comes to a end. ? Or is there more I can do ?
@Roadshome All you can do is get out of the UK! Most vanlifers simply claim the attacks on their way of life isn't actually happening . When it's too late and these people have to pay £50 a night to stay on a licensed site, I get the feeling the volume of their whining will be 11. .......lol
@Roadshome I guess that getting away with the Covid scam told the tyrants that they can pretty much do as they please? Bearing in mind the current housing crisis, with proper representation of the interests of those living full time in vehicles, I think it would be possible to get widespread support from UK councils, in direct contrast to the attacks going on currently. Sadly, the vast majority of vanlifers simply cant be bothered, and feel that making interminable and deadly dull videos about themselves is a far better use of their time! In 2011 Wiltshire Council tried to close the Drove. There was a fair amount of resistance to this and the plan was scrapped. Wonder how much resistance to the TRO application next year?
Hi Mark, think it might be better to put this on Facebook as I just come across your page by accident after watching weeks and weeks of van life videos on TH-cam and this is the first I’ve seen of it But you are right, we will need to stand up to it
Please share the vlog, we do try to add to relevant groups, unfortunately alot of the time we are not allowed to post our own links. We are on fb if you want to add us. 'Roads home' Glad you have found the channel 😀
It's all to do with tightening the knot, increasing the heat in the pot and forcing us down into a funnel that leads to the slaughter house. And no one sees it. They are coaxed and cajoled by 'nice and friendly adverts' that tell them 'it's for your kids safety', it's for your convenience, it's quick and handy... they don't even see it. I don't know why. It annoys me. Glad to hear you're doing this. Didn't know about the petition, will check it out, but I don't think petitions make any difference. Look at the almost 3million that signed the petition for that man at the top of the helm to be sorted out... he's just ignored it. Anyway, things have got to change. And soon. Let me know what I can do.
We've seen loads of tenters and car sleepers and small camper people having wild fires on decent grass areas, including marine drive in scarborough, so they may be talking about the anti social behaviour in that context.. plus the fire risk of that, not meaning fires in motorhomes. Try doing FOI's asking about reports of fires where they aren't allowed in parking spots. Seen a lot worse in Spain... and they are starting to bring in restrictions as well.
Yeah the C40 cities includes Spain. It's not going to be a hidding place unfortunately. Didn't consider open fires as the councils wording was people cooking in camper/motorhomes. I guess this could be something to consider.
I have not had a chance to check, yet, but was listening to another chap chatting about parking "fines", and restrictions - he claimed he does not pay them, what he does is asks the council for the planning application for the pole inserted with said restrictions, and claims, most, if not all, do not have planning consent, therefore, it nullifies whatever is stated on said pole! Like I said, I have not personally had a chance to investigate this, but certainly sounds of interest. Any pole, without planning consent, is invalid, therefore, whatever it claims is also invalid, allegedly! Great work though on investigating this. I am bored stupid now with Agenda 21/30, and, if folks of this rock do not stand up in unison, we are done for, as we charge towards our own imprisonment. Freedom is a god given right, not something a corporate entity can "allow" or not!
I've messaged 3 cities who have brought in the no overnight parking bans. It seams 2 out the 3 have lied the 3rd didn't reply. I'll take it as a no comment. These bans are nation wide yes, definitely. But worse is it Europe wide. Every city in the C40 agreement.
On sites they restrict where awnings go and make you park between pegs to comply with fire regulations. I can see in principle why councils say you can’t have vans tail to tail for that reason. But you have demonstrated the actual risk is minimal or zero based on the FOI requests. They just don’t want us. Maybe a better education of Councils and people in general is needed to blow these myths out. 👍
So you've done what I talked about doing weeks ago in my video, about contacting fire stations. Of course I was talking about contacting all of them (over 3k apparently) which is why it never happened 😂. Fair play to you for doing it 👍. And what a surprise-barely any fires at all....🙄
Yes, I started this in August. It's taken months of waiting for replies. I still have not even got a confirmation email back from the councillors I've emailed. I'm fighting this crap. I'm keeping my van.
Unfortunately whilst some do the right things many don't and services have to be provided for those who chose to stay in areas and these services are paid for by ratepayers and taxpayers. I go camping and 4wd'ing and the amount of rubbish and damage I see, even in more remote places, is quite confronting really. As a result more fees are levied to cover the cost of it and more areas are closed off. I pay a lot in taxes, home insurance, maintenance etc etc each year to live where we do do I'm not really interested in paying more to provide for those that don't want to pay for their lifestyle choice tbh, sorry. I suspect that the numbers of people living in vans, cars and whatever else will be increasing as economic conditions worsen so that will be part of the issue as well most likely.
I wanted to asked someone from the 4x4 community where does this no diesel/petrol leave you guys ? I had a 90 with 2"lift and was force to sell as emissions in London ment I either fitted 2.5k filter that would last a few days under the truck in London or pay stupid money to drive. I was force to sell. Is this going to happen again ?
@@Roadshome We're in Australia so we don't have a lot of the stupidity that you seem to be infected with...........yet.
