thanks so much for teaching the ways of how patterns are made and not just showing us a pattern to copy, i'm learning so much from you. trying this one today :)

I appreciate that you showed the test hats and the whole process because the reality of taking on a project like this is clearly communicated. It's not going to be perfect right away. Such a good idea to do a test before commiting to a pattern.
I made my own today, after I saw this video. I took an old cotton pillow for one side and an old blouse for the other. I like it very much! Thank you for the pattern.
This whole video was so spot on, seeing the testing phase really narrowed down how to alter it perfectly. Thank you! I will be making this tomorrow using a nice pink fabric :)
I absolutely love this. Been searching for a hat pattern for oldest granddaughter. (About your age). Love, love, love this one. Thank you for including the pattern.
I'm halfway done and it's going really well! The pattern is perfect and your instructions are spot on. So often I find that online free patterns, and the accompanying tutorials, do not have the attention to detail that I need. Yours is flawless! Thank you! Subscribed! @@SachisStudio
Getting to see your testing phase was super helpful. You are an inspiration! Also your explanations and demonstrations are so clear and easy to follow. Five star quality work :)
@@SachisStudio I made my first tulip hat for my daughter today. I drafted and tested them like you. It came beautiful. I made it with petals to flover shape and strawberry pattern. It is so cute. Thank U for great tutorial :)
I really like this cute hat, I have a few young friends that I'm going to make one for and I know they will love it! Thank you for the easy pattern! It's so cute!
Fantastic!! I'm so sick of the bucket hats, the square shape is not flattering to me but this petal style is adorable! I'll be making my own of this so I can garden without getting burned. Thanks so much for sharing! You got a new subscriber 🥰
Very clear and informative tutorial. Downloaded pattern, easy to make and looks great! Embellished mine with vintage laces, beads and crochet. I think it looks awesome 😍 Thank you so much for your hard work and generous spirit x
Lovely tutorial. I'm definitely making this with my scraps. I have a lot jersey so I hope it works out okay. I'd love to see how the sheer fabric will turn out.
thanks for your kind comment! the sheer one is in the making :) I would love to see what you make! if possible, please tag me @sachidonguri on Instagram if you decide to share your make:)
If we wanted to omit the frayed edge, we would have to sew the lining and outside right sides together and then flip/topstitch right? should I also add extra seam allowance at the brim in this case?
You are a great instructor! I love your videos! I have two rotary cutters but I really like the one you are using in the video. What is its name please? Does it cut heavy fabric? Thanks much.
Thank you so much for your kind words! they really mean a lot to me right now 💕 I have many rotary cutters but the one in the video is Olfa, but an old model. They cut heavy weight fabric fairly well. I hear good things about new versions but I really like the vintage ones, so I stock up whenever I find them online :)
@@SachisStudio I have a 45 and a 60 Olfa and they both work fine with many fabrics. But I work a lot with mud cloth, which is very rough and takes a lot of strength and energy to cut... And, the blades get dull really fast. Do you have a specific suggestion for a rotary cutter for tough jobs? Thanks for your replies!!!
I only use my rotary cutters for light weight fabrics so I don’t know much about that…sorry I can’t be of much help! For thick fabric, I usually trace the pattern and cut the inside line with my Shozaburo shears (Japanese fabric scissors). I’ve been experimenting with electric scissors lately, but they are tricky to maneuver, but easy on hands so that could be something to consider…
hey i'm having a little trouble, i'm assuming the 60 degrees is because 60*6=369 degrees? but when i measure from the one sixth widest point measurement (outside of center horizontal line) to the peak of the hat the angle is way less than 60 degrees? not sure how to sort that out if that makes sense lol?
Great clear tutorial, the best one of seen so far for making tulip hats. I like that you showed your testing phase too.Thank you!
Thank you so much for such a nice comment! you made my day :)
My 23 year old grandson wants me to make him a warm wool tulip hat. I can't wait to use your instructions and pattern. Video was excellent!

If we wanted to omit the frayed edge, we would have to sew the lining and outside right sides together and then flip/topstitch right? should I also add extra seam allowance at the brim in this case?
Yes! I would add 3/8” (1cm) seam allowance, if I wanted keep the exact brim size of this hat in the thumbnail :)

the link takes me to the winter hat not the reversible hat? did I do something wrong?
I’m not sure why… the link seems to be working fine. but please try this : www.madebysachi.com/2021/03/20/tulip-hat-diy-free-pattern-download/

oops sorry sachi, i was reading my angle wrong. it much closer now good enough to make work with some slight adjustment :)
if you measured from the widest part, it won’t be 60 degrees because of the shaping! but I’m glad it worked out for you😊💕
Thx
Hi, I printed the template but I’m confused. Do I sew on the outer most line or the inner line?
inner line is for the sewing, and outer line is the guide for cutting :)
