- PILOT / OWNER - DEANO DEAN COXON,
Finally after several months of assembling and painting and then fitting out and setting up deano Dean Coxon managed to test fly his stunning 1/5 scale 100" span ZIROLI DOUGLAS SBD DAUNTLESS DIVEBOMBER powered by a brand new MOKI 150cc radial (still running it in peeps) at the Nlmfc Baldock Hertfordshire NLMFC,
Sorry about the quality of this vid but it was heavily overcast and we had a couple of heavy showers thrown in,
Thanks to Tim Jackson for inviting us both over there for the day,
The model was originally built to a high standard by jon seabright over a 10yr period to the completely glass clothed stage,
Then Nigel Ianson of TJD display team fame here in the uk kindly fitted her into his busy schedule to rivet her & paint her to this high standard you now see (she looks amazing in bright sunlight)
And yes she flies like a dream 👍
Volume up and listen to that moki peeps - enjoy

The Douglas SBD Dauntless is a World War II American naval scout plane and dive bomber that was manufactured by Douglas Aircraft from 1940 through 1944. The SBD ("Scout Bomber Douglas") was the United States Navy's main carrier-based scout/dive bomber from mid-1940 through mid-1944.
Engine type : Wright R-1820 Cyclone
Top speed : 410 km/h
Wingspan : 13 m
Range : 1,939 km
Introduced : 1940
Weight : 2,905 kg
Length : 10 m
The SBD was also flown by the United States Marine Corps, both from land air bases and aircraft carriers. The SBD is best remembered as the bomber that delivered the fatal blows to the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. The type earned its nickname "Slow But Deadly" (from its SBD initials) during this period, along with a rarely-used accompanying nickname of "Furious D."
During its combat service, the SBD proved to be an excellent naval scout plane and dive bomber. It possessed long range, good handling characteristics, maneuverability, potent bomb load, great diving characteristics from the perforated dive brakes, good defensive armament, and ruggedness. One land-based variant of the SBD - omitting the arrestor hook - was purpose-built for the U.S. Army Air Forces, as the A-24 Banshee.

Nice plane mate!
Maybe with a fresh coat of paint and rounded wingtips, my T-6 Texan could become a Douglas SBD. It is always a pleasure watching what your Son can do. Thank you again for sharing. Jim
