When Teelan mentioned turning the telethia back into high entia I got flashbacks to me mercilessly slaughtering every single telethia in Alcamoth to grind for levels and felt really bad.
good to know I’m not the only one, but I don’t regret killing aora telethia. Those things were annoying as hell if you didn’t time shield right, because daze and bleed is a thing.
I loved Future Connected, but Tyrea joining as a party member would have been excellent. Quiet Moments with the party members other than Melia, a fun Fiora clone with variations of her arts...and we could make her put some pants on!
Yeah, we needed another tank. Nene is a great character, and I do like Reyn's play style, but agility tanks generally do better. I tend to make Reyn more of an offence character than a tank once I can have two agility tanks.
first time i saw the first artwork and trealer for future connected i was like : ... So Shulk X Melia ship confirmed? WEare is fiorung? why not karna or dunban why HER specificly
@@cameroncooper5941 not to sound like a racist but i think nopon's are to small to be credible tanks i just feel like nene woud fly away at any slap lol also the hayethe ware clear analogy for high elves ... Pure white architexture obsess about blood purity and racist to human's or any " inferior " race etc watch any media with high elven society lord of the ring elder scroll etc you will see what im talking about
Might just be me, but I love the new aesthetic of Alcamoth in FC. The overgrown ruins with misty air is just beautiful imo, but its also so sad in context.
I never care for the dull white empire-like areas so seeing all the overgrown plants and with the lighting coming in through the cracks of Alcamoth made it look far more visually interesting.
I also really enjoyed looking at the FC Alcamoth. In addition to the other reasons, it felt like the closest we'll see to an HD Xenogears area (well aside from Morytha basically being Zeboim Ruins 2.0; but I was thinking more the ruined ancient tech areas like Babel Tower).
Kino and Nene carried Future Connected for me. Their dialogue with each other, as well as Shulk and Melia, was so adorable that it healed a lot of the damage done to my soul this year.
I don't think the FogKing was a throwaway villain. Well, maybe this particular Fog creature was. But I think this is establishing what the future conflict will be. Note Melia's "premonition" that this won't be the end of things. I get the feeling this is connected to the future games, we just don't know it yet.
Linkalot It actually is. If you compare the boss Infernal Guldo from XC 2 and the Fog King they have an extremely similar shape, especially the tentacle-like third claw. Its also very interesting that some people think, the Infernal Guldo was once Meyneths/Galeas half in Alrest, because if the ID-Card the boss drops.
Why the hell does everyone hate Bionis' Interior? It's such a different and cool looking area, and feels so alien. It's not my favourite area, it's mostly just a run up to pay for my insolence, but I certainly don't hate it. I can't hate any area that beautifully alien.
The fact that you need to farm shit in there and there are no good landmarks. The fact that the place has a death trap ether pool at the bottom that you can't skip out of and just have to wait to die in. The fact that the enemies are kinda annoying to fight. You could probably keep going. As much as I love the area and as cool as it is from a design perspective, I can definitely see why people don't like it. Hell, I don't even like going back to it, and it's one of my favourite areas aesthetically.
Beyond the Sky.... but somehow.... better? How did they do it? I am happy. (This is my opinion I am not claiming it is objectively better but yeah I like)
@@shrexyboi6068 I just finished Torna and absolutely the battle music was a similarly Jazz. I'm hoping we see more of that in future Monolith titles. And don't even get me started on Fogbeast battle theme. That is the best piece of music in ALL xenoblade games imo.
My favorite part about Future Connected is that Shulk finally gets to wear his hood. He's always had one but never wore it and its always bugged me way more than it shouldve.
I finished this today and I absolutely bawled my eyes out at the end. Not because it was sad, but because I was so happy to see Melia get a proper conclusion to her character arc. Melia has been my favorite character since I beat the game on the Wii because of how much I connected to her character, and seeing her grow and mature now that I'm also older feels like I've grown with her. They also made Tyrea an actually good character that Melia can bounce off of so they help each other develop. Seeing Melia succeed after everything she's lost and being able to genuinely smile at the end just hit me like a ton of bricks.
I actually quite dislike the main story. Melia's arc did nothing to address her role as the new leader of the high entia. And her feeling for shulk were dropped completely instead of her getting closure on the subject.
@@samreddig8819 Because Melia's character doesn't resolve around her feelings for Shulk. I'm glad it wasn't brought up because it shouldn't be the focus of her character. The epilogue demonstrated why Melia was chosen to be the new leader. She demonstrated her ability to view the perspective of people she may not necessarily agree with and understand their plight. The main closure Melia needed was with her guilt with the fate of the High Entia, and that closure was given when Melia made up with Tyrea and connected with her, as well as being able to give hope to her people by giving them something to believe in. The story also brought back small details most people would've not thought about that builds Melia's character, such as the death of her guards weighing on her. Her refusal to accept Maxim to be her appointed guard is her way of growing out of being given responsibilities by others and instead choosing for herself what she wants.
@@ShallBePurified im ok with it not revolving around her feelings. But its dropped completely. Like it was never a thing. And when she begged the companions to return she did just that. Beg. It feels like she never stepped up to her role as empress.
@@samreddig8819 She reasoned with them and gave them the most logical answer while also appealing to their values. You know, their families. Plus Maxim was conflicted between his desire to protect his family and people and his prejudice against the Machina, but Melia made a compelling argument that swayed him into choosing his family over his racism. The reason she never played her empress card is because she wanted to be judged by her actions, not her role. And that's what makes her a good leader.
If Takahashi is to believe (referring to that interview where he specifically mentioned how the thinks characters aay if FC are important for the future of the series), then the quiet moment with melia and shulk in alcamoth sorta implies that the next game is gonna be dark.
As someone who has not played any other Xeno titles and thus cares nothing for lore or connections to other games, I thought Future Connected was wonderful for what it is; the ending that Melia deserved. She was a wonderful, rich character who got so many plotlines and arcs that didn't really get finished in the main game. She lost everyone, her people were nearly wiped out, and she had to develop and get over a crush on the boy she liked without him ever even knowing or acknowledging her feelings. She deserved so much better, and that's what Future Connected gives to her. A happy ending. One that does not come easily, and is not always certain, but feels all the more earned as a result. The freeze frame on her contented smile at the end was the closest I came to real tears in my entire XCDE playthrough.
I just lost it when she smiled at the end. That is the first instance Melia has ever given a genuinely happy smile. Every smile she has done before that moment is hiding sadness within her, but that last smile was just so pure and she finally gets the happy ending she deserved.
Raise your hand if you actually like the Bionis interior. I mean it's not the best area in the game but I found it really interesting since it was so different.
the only thing I didn’t like were the flying telethia and their broken collision boxes constantly pulling me off a cliff and into the stomach acid after a double attack.
I was satisfied; I noticed it on my own playthrough, but the Fogking seemed really similar to Gnosis from what little I knew about them, so I figured it may have had something to do with that. Still not the best thing ever, but I was at least satisfied with that; as well as the character’s own retrospective on the events of the main game itself, as well as it’s clarification of it’s own core ideas and concepts in relation to the main Xeno philosophy of “Perspectivism”. I think it could’ve been more, but I was satisfied with what I got.
"The events that take place and the words spoken by the characters in Future Connected are linked to the future of Xenoblade Chronicles itself" - Takahashi Yeah, i think the fog beasts are probably gonna play a major part in whatever ends up being the next Xenoblade title. The quiet moment between Shulk and Melia just before the final fight HEAVILY implies that whatever's happening, isn't over.
the title never implied connections with other games, takahashi said it gives insight in the future of the series and it does that by shoving a freaking gnosis enemy in xenoblade plus melia's visions of impending doom the connection is between the past of zanza and the future of the world, which is why the haienta and telethia are in focus, they are the closest cells to zanza left
Even if they wanted to voice the heart to hearts they would have to bring back all the voice actors and they would sound different from the rest of the game
Yah, I've been playing Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition, and while replacing Troy Baker for someone else trying to sound like him is jarring, even the ones voiced by the same people sound a little weird. I'd rather it just stay silent, cause then you just sort of hear them in your head.
I actually loved this epilogue so much. After 79 hours on my play through of the main game, and a 19 hour run of the epilogue (7 of those hours were spent trying to find the first of the two animal for the [BLANK] collectopaedia slot), even after a good 98 hours total, it was all fun!
Would you consider having a small, non distracting sound when you put text on screen? I'm just being selfish, but I like to listen to these types of video while doing something else, but I wouldn't mind looking at the video when I know there is something on screen.
I understand people's disappointment, but I never expected more than what we got, or connections to the other games. Although I agree they should've been careful with their word choice
The word choice is fine. It implies it's acting as a conection of the original and the future games, which as yet don't exist, but will probably come is a couple of years
I think most people focused on the "Connected" part and assumed it would connect 1 to 2 and just assumed the "Future" part referred to it taking place after 1. Looking back on FC now that we are aware of what Xenoblade 3 is, I can see the similarities starting to form, so in truth the "future" it was "connected" to is the game that takes place in the narrative's future and would come out in the future.
Two little fun facts: in italian Future Connected is called "A future together", which is still a bit misleading but far better than the og name. Wings of Tomorrow instead is the name of the absolute best song in God Eater and now I can't watch the rest of the video without thinking about it
Even though Shulk's role in FC felt kinda tacked on, I'm kinda glad he maintained some of his identity in this story. After Fiora is reintroduced into the main story, it felt like he lost a lot of his unique charm as a character and only existed to be with Fiora. The same problem exists with her too since I didn't really see much of her snarky personality post Galahad Fortress outside of battle quotes.
I did not get he Tainted connection until you said it, and now I absolutely must replay X so I can see it more in-depth. Fascinating. I'll admit the lack of explanations about...anything the story provided, like what the hell this Fog King truly was or what the rift was supposed to be, was a little frustrating, but it's like you said. It was never trying to be like base game levels of intensity, and the art book specifically states "Future Connected" is meant to connect to the future of the franchise more-so than the games we have already. I enjoyed the nice little epilogue as what it always was: true closure for Melia and Tyrea's character arcs.
So from what I'm gathering, it seems that Future Connected should've been more clearly marketed as a Sidestory Conclusion to Melia's story rather than an Epilogue to the game as a whole? It seems the big intrigue in FC's story is more in terms of it being a character piece w/ not much focus on plot/mysteries/etc. Maybe that would've helped temper ppls expectations going in?
why its most important to unerstand Melia after the main game and also the High Entia cause she will out live them like its nothing so if in the theoretical XBC3 or even a XBCX2 she is to appear we will know the hows and why she is where she is Edit: while Shulk cannot see the future any more, he still seems to have most of his Monado abilities without even a Monado, remember, those abilities are altering the fabric of reality by bending the Ether to his will, something tells me Shulk still has the power given to him by the conduit, but they respect his descision of not becoming a God so they dont give him extra support but still has a lot of the abilities he had with the Monado as prof that power still dwell in him, it also stands to reason Alvis still lives, since Mythra and Pyra are still alive, but I guess he is now with the Conduit observing the universe
I thought the Bionis's Shoulder made really clever use of verticality to make the area feel bigger and more complex. It was already very wide, but the fact that there were winding vertical pathways and areas built on top of each other really made it feel massive and rich to explore.
There are slight differences in some of the arts with Kino and Nene. In particular, I noticed that Nene's clone of Lariat was 3 hits, instead of one. Which is really good.
Only thing I wanted from this was for Melia to get a little closure and an actual purpose beyond hanging around C9 because yeah the base game never really tied up the High Entia situation. FC did that so I'm good, also glad that Melia and Tyrea have started to forge that sisterly connection that I feel they both needed
Future connected is connecting not only the future of the High Entia but the past and the future of the world. Shulk even says this in a quiet moment that he doesn’t want to forget Zanza or all that happened he wants to move to the future. And Gael’gar’s beliefs is going to perpetuate the problems with the old world.
Gael'gar could've been a Dunhan clone. Tyrea could've been a Fiora clone. Wunwun a Riki clone? There's a couple of places for more characters, but honestly I don't think it needed it that bad. I really enjoyed it and especially I enjoyed the quiet moments. People really kind of ran with their imaginations before playing this one
Something about you stopping for a screenshot of Kino standing on the air between planks on that bridge really got me. Love the videos, Luxin! You and Enel are keeping me going while we wait for Xenoblade 3, and I can't wait to have another game for you to find all the little details I know I'm going to miss!
I know it was just me having too high of expectations, but I couldn't help but be disappointed when FC ends and nothing important really happened. The whole game felt like the filler episode of an anime. It introduced new characters that done make any impact on the story and the villain is completely generic and throw away. I hated how they removed so many features of the main game. But what I did enjoy was getting to see the Shoulder. The mystery and intrigue of the shoulder itself is what carried FC for me. It was really cool to finally get to see it in game after hearing about it and seeing videos of it as a cut and unused area. But I do understand that this is just an extra epilogue, not a full expansion. Like it said, my disappointment was mostly my own fault for getting my hopes up too high.
It's called FUTURE connected because it connects to the FUTURE, to Xenoblade 3, people seem to forget that Xenoblade 2 is not set in the future, it occurs parallel to Xenoblade 1.
I wish you could alternate Shulks Ex monado to have "modes" that are synonymous with all the replica monados from the main game. I feel like that would make up for Kino and Nene being so limited.
Xenoblade X had those quests for just killing enemies or finding enemies for money; I agree that X had the best sidequests, but I don't think it's a fair comparison. The original games' sidequests were definitely more interesting than 2's for me, but I still liked 2's And sidenote - I absolutely love the Mechonis areas, especially Mechonis Field and Agniritha
Agree, the mechanics areas, Mechonis field, the Central factory and Agniritha, all had some of the best field themes in the game, in my opinion at least. Of course, all of the music in Xenoblade is legendary, but I just really liked those ones.
Japenese are not as divided as westerner so they ave always handle these topics better than westerner watch any anime from the 90 or even the 80 you will see way better représentation than in any western product
@@luthiamoonlightfrqc2905 Not ethnically, but that's because Japan as a country is far less racially-diverse. Asian cultures have general disdain of foreigners (i.e. those of different ethnicities), and especially those of non-Asian ethnicity, and those sentiments are especially strong in Japanese culture given their physical isolation from the rest of Asia, and their rapid pace of technological advancement compared to the likes of China or Korea. There's a reason nearly every Asian language has an insulting form of the word "commoner," and a reason why they consider their respective terms to be a slur on-par with the n-word in English.
One thing I noticed that could be a reference to XC2 is that the Nopon you meet in the beginning say Meh Meh like Tora. I don’t really recall any other Nopon saying that in XC1
With a very specific set of parameters, if you have Riki following a party leader (I don't remember which specific one) he will say "Meh Meh!" And Bana also says "Meh Meh Meh Meh!" in his side quest in the main game. The Nopon in Xenoblade 1 said Meh, but rarely. I think meh became a really trendy Nopon word after 2 with how much more used it was in 2.
@@They_are_Arthur Meh Meh is a translation from a language tick said by all the Nopons in Japanese. The reason it isn't that frequent in XC1 is because the localization team didn't bother to translate it in most cases.
Honestly, I was kinda disappointed with FC. Combat just had things removed. I liked the Ponspecters. Although it was hard to see the B rings with the animations. I also couldn't find any monster that was higher than level 80. So leveling up was a bit hard. The story was good tho. Animations were an upgrade. Only the ones from the main cutscenes tho. The game was also short. I spent a LOT of time exploring, sighrseeing, and gathering Ponspecters and finishing erry quest and killing every UM. And yet, it barely lasted me 20 hours. Unlike the main game which lasted me 138 hours. Torna lasted me 40 hours or more I loved the battle theme and Nene's voice a lot. The shoulder was fun to explore. Shulk's and Melia's outfits were better than any other outfit in the main game lol Try equipping his black hoodie outfit with the Monado 3. My favorite color and the best combination
28:30, or thereabouts: The book that came with the original Xenoblade japanese special edition back in 2010 was recently translated (by fans) into English. It's stated that colonies 6 and 9 are the only ones still remaining by the start of the game; the rest have been destroyed by mechon.
I think the "Future Connected" part is coming from the fact that Shulk and his friends will support Melia in her goals and that she's not alone. It doesn't matter that they are from different species. Homs, NAPON..., and Highentia working for a connected Future.
Tyrea has a character art section in the art book and that made me me think wow is Tyrea playable? Then I saw the quiet moment and thought: oh she's definitely playable
I’ll be honest, I really like that Nene and Kino were pseudo parodies of Reyn and Sharla. I thought it was really funny. Hearing a tiny girl shout messed up versions of Reyn’s arts is hilarious.
I was also hopeful that Tyrea would become a Fiora clone party member at some point, but I didn't expect it to actually happen so I wasn't too disappointed about it not happening. She grew a lot on me throughout Future Connected too. On another note, Kino and Nené might be the best main cast Nopon in the series (I love them all, yes, even Tatsu), but Bana has to be the most important Nopon of them all. He's basically the Zanza of Nopon, everything goes back to him and his plans. And that's not even taking into account the fact that he pretty much grew 3 times his volume and (if you count the ponytail) twice his size in order to become the Chairman of Argentum Trade Guild in a parallel universe which had its events transpiring at the same time as those in his actual universe. He deserves a theme as good as A Tragic Decision, anything less would be doing him a disservice.
9:45 I think you're understating 1's side quests by a lot. There were all of the monster quests and material quests, but there were also a whole slew of side quests that involved speaking to named characters and being able to help their relationships. And interestingly enough in this game, Teelan appears as a fully voiced character, who appeared as a side quest character in 1. I think Teelan's side quest was actually really cool, finding some research and giving it to him in order to further the future of the High Entia, which is shown in full force in Future Connected. Plus, those monster quests were very simple and were easy to complete along the main pathway of the game, automatically completing once the specific set of enemies were dead.
I remember he pulled out the book and Melia said it was the book they got from the high entia tomb and i went "Oh yeah, i remember accepting that quest then never completed it. "
Personally, I think it's great to have a few kill some enemies and get a reward quest. You get the cash and experience from both the enemies and the quest. Great way to level up fast so you don't need to grind. Personally, I think post-apocalyptic alcamoth looked pretty cool, especially when you played the main game first. You sort of see Alcamoth at it's strongest, mid-crisis and then post-apocalyptic which I haven't really seen in a game before so clearly.
Well, I have a theory. There is going to be major spoilers for 1 and 2. Just a fair warning to any reading this. So, think back to the last cutscene of 2. As Malos, or rather Logos, dies, purple particles evaporate into the air as his core crystal dissolves. Later, we see green versions of these particles, signifying the death of Pneuma. As the two parts of the trinity processor pass, the Conduit dissolves into a portal. We know this happens at the same time as the final battle in 1. Now, if I remember this correctly, as Alvis, or Ontos, is making his final speech, particles not too different from the others surrounding the other Aegis’ fly around him. So, at this point, all three Aegis’ are dead, and the Trinity Processor is dissolved. My guess is that these events caused a new universe to be formed, one that combines the two worlds. But, in the last cutscene of 2, we see Pyra and Mythra be reawakened in this new world. If Pyra and Mythra could be reborn, I believe Logos and Ontos could as well. This would set up for Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Ephemeral Enhancement I’m not honestly sure. My best guess is that he sensed the other Aegis’ passing and gave himself up to complete the trinity processor.
Dude, the final boss is literally a guldo and not any guldo, infernal guldo, which is the guldo the real world mayneth turns into. Thats pretty conected, its not as in your face as the characters literrally crossing over but it does have some meaning beyond chronicles one. I dont know what to do with that knowledge because Im one to think that alvis just transported everyone into the real world at the end and in the real world guldos are still a problem and they can manage and suck ether so it isnt surprising that they can do what they do without the conduit.
The Infenal Guldo is not half of Meyneth they just refused the card to show it used to be human. Hell the Infernal Guldo is not even a unique design in 2 as they are normal enemy's that look exactly the same in Morytha.
Well it seems pretty implied that it used to be galea, and it would fall in line with the duality of there being a xenoblade 1 and 2 counter part of the characters claus/zansa and galea/mayneth. Plus xenoblade 2 goes in-depth into what happened to claus and seeing as galeas only mention was in morytha where humanity was pretty much extint for me it fell into place that she was the guldo. Regardless guldos are mutated humans with early blade technology that have no place being in xenoblade one. The only reason I can come up with for this appearance is that it represents them being in the same earth as xenoblade 2 or it being somehow conected to what happened to galea since galea was kind of a god too in xenoblade 1. It could be something else because this is all speculation, but guldos are not normal enemies and one appearing in future conected does have to mean something other than reusing assets. Pardon the grammar xD
@@blasandresayalagarcia3472 We dont know if Galea was even split in half like Klaus was that's purely Fanon. Galea was never mentioned in Morytha only by Klaus and his flashback both whitch took place on the low orbit station witch is quite far from Morytha. If the Fogking is ment to be half of Galea then how did it survive her death when Klaus died when Zanza did. The design for the infernal Guldo is also shared with a common enemy in 2 the Relic-holder Tyrannor whitch means it's not that unique a creature. The ID card was most likely just reused assets to show players that they used to be humans. They is probably some link between the Guldos and the Fogking but I dont think Meyneth has anything to do with it.
Yeah just search it and you're right, I guess the mayneth connection isnt that factual. The only thing left is how a guldo got into the xenoblade one expancion.
I consider the title to imply that this is where the starting point for the story of a full sequel is tbh. The art book almost straight up admits it. If that's the case then it makes sense not to reveal what the fog king was
I'd honestly draw more of a comparison between Niall and Morag than Hubert and Edelgard (for Tyrea and Melia in postgame). Sure it's not perfect but it's good that that isn't the case.
I find the Main Story more interesting GamePlay wise than Future Connected. Reason i playing Future Connected 1st , because i seen the main story and (spoiler below). Apprently beating Future Connected unlocks Costumes and able to upgrades Arts abit farther for Main Game.
There technically is multiverse stuff. The end fight music is called something like "the end of the conduit", which implies the conduit is or trying to appear. The fog king itself is the same as Galea from 2, and acts almost exactly as the Gnosis from saga. They might be trying a Perfect works story again. In one side quest a telethia does the same thing as the Endbringer from X. That being said I too was a bit disappointed.
Is connected cause all the people is working together, and cause Shulk doesn't have more vision Monolith want to show how people can follow their own path. Also the Alcamoth people ask for kill some telethya, cause, they were out of control and more later under the control of zanza. Is better enjoy a game for what it is, not for what the fans want. Monolith discard the shoulder as an area year ago, so I think XC: FC could be written back then (anything feels out the place).
The problem with saying Gael Gar could comeback is that he doesn't have the flying ability that Tyrea has. If you look at his wings they're as small as melia's and she can't fly either. Tyrea is only an exception due to a mention how some half breeds are lucky as their half breed traits barely show.
You are not alone. When I finished the game it was so late that I just wanted to take a peak at Future Connected. But little did I know that the first five minutes would make me cry. It is just so funny yet heart-warming because we're used to nopons saying stuff like "Here! New Brotherpon." And that is probably why it hits so hard. Either that or I should've going to sleep because I was really tired. I also think that it would've been better if they changed Melias Kit a little bit because of her new "monado inspired" staff. Shulk is imo a so much better character then Melia to use in this game with your limited options also the lack of chain attacks makes her a bit less useful for me since when I'm not playing with her I usually use her as an extender in the middle of the party since she can always use a colourless art. In this party Melia, as a protagonist, is simply not good enough to stick out that much. But probably I'm just less experienced with playing as her. Still a bit more options aside her summon mechanic would've been cool. Shulk and Nene work so well together with Melia who would draw the Aggro it just goes in the way of my playstyle. Gameplaywise I had a lot fun with Future Connected. I think the battle system should've been a bit more redesigned for the new elements (like they did with Torna) but you get used to it and the ponspektors are a great idea to encourage you to explore (even though the problem with the three different colors is something we shouldn't overlook). The only thing I really find sad is that even playing 100% only took barely 15 hours. But not because I think it is to less I just want to play more of it because Future Connected was so much fun xD However a comparison between Future Connected and Torna is not the best comparison because one of them is a DLC that had to keep up with expectations of a 25 Dollar Season Pass (and damn it really did). In the end it is a big big love letter to all hardcore fans of Xenoblade Chronicles. Those who completed the game to 100%/did all kinds of cutscenes, heart to hearts, etc. From the beginning to the end where colony 9 rebuilds Alcamoth I enjoyed every single moment. Just seeing the other characters for a brief moment was enough for me to be happy since it is a story focused on Melia so I'm okay with that. And the end of her story doesn't interfere with the end of the main story. It doesn't extend the universe/story as much as a sequel should've but I'm okay with this. This little addition put a smile on my face whenever I booted it up. I'm really excited to see what the future will bring. Also I'm in the mood of some gambling. I bet that the next Xenoblade Game will come out during 2022. Just a feeling.
the reason XBC 1 side quests are actually better than many of the other games is because, unlike those, in generic quests you didnt need to go back to the npc and could take them all in 1 go and compleate them at your leasure, and in case 1 quest had multiple objectives it gave you all from the get go, and DE has made them even more streamlined by actually telling you which god damn orb can give you what you need, while the other quests are more involved, not as much as 2, but enough while in 2 generic quest are the worst, you have to get them, do the objective, go back to talk to quest giver and pray to god ints not a multy objectibe quest, in case it is, rinse and repeat as many times as needed, and then, you can unlock a few other generic quests, granted, there are less generic quest in total but Quantity does not equal Quality XBC1 generic quests were painless in that regard, there were a lot, but they were painless, and while not all to par, the character involved quests have some great gems in them, in XBC2 the generic quests were few, but were the absolute worst there are, and the constant back tracking more than tripled the time invested in them, and while the content of the character quests are better in general writting wise... somewhat, they also have the same problems the generic quests have, and not to mention, some had you waiting actual hours, not just a few minutes, cause you needed the mercenaries
Xenoblade X did this better. Generic killquests/fetchquests are optional and infinite, meaning you can use them to grind or ignore them, it's completely up to you. NPCs only give you sidequests with interesting plots and worthwhile content (ma-non genocide always springs to mind). In other words, X has the best sidequest system in the series by a long shot
Dunno if you mention it (haven't watched the whole video) but if you go into the giants ruins (the big one with the highly concentrated ether crystals) you see statues of ancient high entia. And above there are both giant sized and high entia sized ruins. My conclusion: the giants taught and helped evolve the ancient high entia seeing as eryth sea islands and alcamoth are hover stone based. also the sun is the same as on bionis so it's probably not the same world as rex's sadly.
my theory is that the Fog king is Zanza’s/Klaus gnosis who rejected the collective unconscious and he’s trying to keep his individuality and he returned to the world by possessing less intelligent life forms in order to prolong his existence.
Or maybe a gnosis-like being created from the hatred Deus and Ouroboros felt from being destroyed and go around Zohar-influenced universes to destroy them out of spite.
28:00 the other homs colonies are destroyed by the start of the game. I believe it's mentioned in the book that was released in Japan. There is another TH-camr who made a video on the subject Edit: found video link th-cam.com/video/uL-p3vm08Bg/w-d-xo.html
Any homes on the shoulder are either from alcamoth ( where else would the half hons hight Entia come from) or Frontier village/ makna forest area based on the fact there are frontier village nopon like Bana on the shoulder. We know that at least one homs was from alcamoth at least since one quest brings it up. I forget the name of it but it's the one involving getting a ring made for a high Entia
I genuinely think that they trolled us a bit with the title and showing the rift and the Guldo in trailers but it’s not a bad story FC reminds me a bit of the Breaking bad movie we had recently , we all expected many connections to the original series coupled with some earth shattering revelations and instead got a self contained story about one character that feels like was originally gonna be a part of the main plot but was cut it is still good but after many years fans expectations are over the roof so they expect so much from this new piece of content that of course is gonna be a little disappointing even if it still fits perfectly the story
I'm honestly a bit sad there wasn't any real superbosses, though. Even Torna had the Golden Beasts, and while they were annoying to get close enough in level, they were still a fun challenge. The fact the highest level monster is level 80 in FC when you don't even have an altered level cap is kind of disappointing.
I mean, a superboss would be unbeatable in FC without grinding up to level 99. You have no access to super good gems, it'd take a long time of not particularly fun grinding, and your team comp is not the best. Not to mention limited gear. It wouldn't be fun fighting a superboss for anyone but the types that go out of their way for a challenge.
@@LordEgilYGO Counterpoint: as great as XC combat is, Torna had a new combat system with tons of customisation, besides that, in general, I still think Torna is the best combat in the series. Not to mention the fact that only being able to play 4 characters would become really boring after the grinding, in Torna, there were a lot of considerations to be made for each of the 3 character teams, all of which I'd consider entirely unique playable characters, that would make 9 different gameplay styles, even if only a few combinations are viable for damage. The issue I had with FC was the fact that ye we had a Sharla and Reyn clone sure, but both of those felt really underwhelming without skill trees, Nene can't really tank, Kino can't really heal, even with full ether up, he only heals for maybe 70% of your HP, at Lvl 80, Sharla heals fully by that point every single art. Dragonedge is right in what he says, because the torna superbosses gave something cool, be that a weapon, an accessory or a new core chip, all of these things made it very rewarding cause each time you'd kill the boss a little quicker. I managed to beat all superbosses in Torna while having tons of fun. The one superboss in FC felt like a slog, cause of its spike, topple and basically insta killing blaze attack.
I honestly prefer FC and Torna to base game 1 and 2. I just prefer a shorter game that can communicate what it wants in under 35 hours. Also for the introduction to Bionis Shoulder I kept on thinking of the into to Primordia
When Teelan mentioned turning the telethia back into high entia I got flashbacks to me mercilessly slaughtering every single telethia in Alcamoth to grind for levels and felt really bad.
It was a necessary sacrifice
good to know I’m not the only one, but I don’t regret killing aora telethia.

It gives me Portal 2 vibes
definitely. it's sad but also kind of serene.

9:18, Shulk: We wish for a world with no gods.
Kino: Hold my pollen orbs.
Kino and Nene carried Future Connected for me. Their dialogue with each other, as well as Shulk and Melia, was so adorable that it healed a lot of the damage done to my soul this year.
Urgh... Kino is as annoying as Juju imo. But Nene is cute.
@@jogymogy3691 Kino don't think that very nice!
It was the opposite for me. I kept asking why they were there the whole time. Especially since they were just clones of Reyn and Sharla.
@@flameheadshero Thisis because of Riki. He gave Kino a weapon inspired by Sharla's other rifle which would influence his fighting style.
I don't think the FogKing was a throwaway villain. Well, maybe this particular Fog creature was. But I think this is establishing what the future conflict will be. Note Melia's "premonition" that this won't be the end of things. I get the feeling this is connected to the future games, we just don't know it yet.
Takahashi has said FC hints towards the future of the series
Yeah, but no
its also a guldo
@@windwaker0rules bro no way that's crazy if it is
Linkalot It actually is.
Cuz...black liver beans
The fact that you need to farm shit in there and there are no good landmarks. The fact that the place has a death trap ether pool at the bottom that you can't skip out of and just have to wait to die in. The fact that the enemies are kinda annoying to fight. You could probably keep going. As much as I love the area and as cool as it is from a design perspective, I can definitely see why people don't like it. Hell, I don't even like going back to it, and it's one of my favourite areas aesthetically.
Well it's definitely better than Tephra Cave and Ether Mine, at least visually
Footsteps sound like someone slapping raw meat
I don't hate Bionis Interior. I hate black liver beans and Lorathia's boss fight
The music was some of the best in the game
The battle music reminded me of torna’s in a way, and that is a definite bonus.
He's always had one but never wore it and its always bugged me way more than it shouldve.
whaat did he really always have one?
@@Diamoondust yes
I finished this today and I absolutely bawled my eyes out at the end. Not because it was sad, but because I was so happy to see Melia get a proper conclusion to her character arc. Melia has been my favorite character since I beat the game on the Wii because of how much I connected to her character, and seeing her grow and mature now that I'm also older feels like I've grown with her. They also made Tyrea an actually good character that Melia can bounce off of so they help each other develop. Seeing Melia succeed after everything she's lost and being able to genuinely smile at the end just hit me like a ton of bricks.
But she will never have Shulk.
Shulk: I...we wish...for a world with more Nopons.
Future Connected:
If Takahashi is to believe (referring to that interview where he specifically mentioned how the thinks characters aay if FC are important for the future of the series), then the quiet moment with melia and shulk in alcamoth sorta implies that the next game is gonna be dark.
So like, the Majora’s Mask of the series? That would be kinda nice.
That would be cool.
God I hope, it better take itself as seriously as 1
i doubt it, takahashi already admited to being unable to write stories that arent ''power of friendship rules it all''.
Please, no. Things cant get much darker than Torna the Golden Country
"he could have found more racist people,"
Me: "HE FOUND ALEX FROM XENOBLADE X SOMEHOW. THIS IS THE CONNECTION TO THE FUTURE. THE RACIST CONNECTION,"
Raise your hand if you actually like the Bionis interior. I mean it's not the best area in the game but I found it really interesting since it was so different.
I find it to be tolerable. It has some obnoxious designs with the stomach acid basically killing you instantly, and the very sporadic enemy placement.
I thought it was fine... but fuck Black Liver Beans.
the only thing I didn’t like were the flying telethia and their broken collision boxes constantly pulling me off a cliff and into the stomach acid after a double attack.
it’s a lot better in definitive edition
I was satisfied; I noticed it on my own playthrough, but the Fogking seemed really similar to Gnosis from what little I knew about them, so I figured it may have had something to do with that. Still not the best thing ever, but I was at least satisfied with that; as well as the character’s own retrospective on the events of the main game itself, as well as it’s clarification of it’s own core ideas and concepts in relation to the main Xeno philosophy of “Perspectivism”. I think it could’ve been more, but I was satisfied with what I got.
"The events that take place and the words spoken by the characters in Future Connected are linked to the future of Xenoblade Chronicles itself" - Takahashi
Yeah, i think the fog beasts are probably gonna play a major part in whatever ends up being the next Xenoblade title. The quiet moment between Shulk and Melia just before the final fight HEAVILY implies that whatever's happening, isn't over.
the title never implied connections with other games, takahashi said it gives insight in the future of the series and it does that by shoving a freaking gnosis enemy in xenoblade plus melia's visions of impending doom
the connection is between the past of zanza and the future of the world, which is why the haienta and telethia are in focus, they are the closest cells to zanza left
Lunix: "I want to see Melia like... tons of years in the future, as an Empress"
Xenoblade 3: "Let me introduce myself"
Legit I don’t get why they wouldn’t let Tyrea be playable.
Wings of Tomorrow instead is the name of the absolute best song in God Eater and now I can't watch the rest of the video without thinking about it
God Eater music slaps! Have you heard nemesis from GE 3?
THE WIIIIINGS OF TOMOOOOROW
I'm personally a fan of "We Gotta Go!"
Surprised you didn’t mention that the new Replica Monado looks like Pyra’s Aegis sword mixed with Monado 1
Did you even watch the video lol
So from what I'm gathering, it seems that Future Connected should've been more clearly marketed as a Sidestory Conclusion to Melia's story rather than an Epilogue to the game as a whole? It seems the big intrigue in FC's story is more in terms of it being a character piece w/ not much focus on plot/mysteries/etc. Maybe that would've helped temper ppls expectations going in?
Hindsight is a blessing
why its most important to unerstand Melia after the main game and also the High Entia
cause she will out live them like its nothing
so if in the theoretical XBC3 or even a XBCX2 she is to appear we will know the hows and why she is where she is
Edit: while Shulk cannot see the future any more, he still seems to have most of his Monado abilities without even a Monado, remember, those abilities are altering the fabric of reality by bending the Ether to his will, something tells me Shulk still has the power given to him by the conduit, but they respect his descision of not becoming a God so they dont give him extra support but still has a lot of the abilities he had with the Monado as prof that power still dwell in him, it also stands to reason Alvis still lives, since Mythra and Pyra are still alive, but I guess he is now with the Conduit observing the universe

The fog king is what I assume to be between 74 and 78 since I went in at level 76 (which I thought was overleveled) and it had a brown icon.
Beyond the sky acoustic is beautiful tho and the quiet moments were beautiful, onwards and upwards to the future:)
Zanza was in reality level 81 and I think the fog king is level 75.
I was level 80 when I fought the Fog King and it seemed like the eye icon above it was bronze, maybe pushing it closer to 80.
People really kind of ran with their imaginations before playing this one
fun fact: the tomb where you fight prosecutor davrum and get the golden shrooms uses the exact same structure as the DE time attack hall
Or the term REX meaning King references to the whole "Philosopher King" idea that Xeno has been referencing from Gnostic Text since forever.
Old Melia: Would you like to hear a story of the Monado, and the beginning of this world?
The original games'
sidequests were definitely more interesting than 2's for me, but I still liked 2's
And sidenote - I absolutely love the Mechonis areas, especially Mechonis Field and Agniritha
Agree, the mechanics areas, Mechonis field, the Central factory and Agniritha, all had some of the best field themes in the game, in my opinion at least.
Of course, all of the music in Xenoblade is legendary, but I just really liked those ones.
Could you possibly do an in depth video on what you would want a XC3 to be like?
Wait you said unfinished battle loops? It doesn't. It default back to the fog beast battle during the saurus fight once finished.
Shulk: We wish for a world with no gods.
21:16, Luxin: I just wish she had pants
That moment when the game handles racism better than the United States
Pretty spooky that the BLM protests happened when this game came out.
I love how you zoomed in on kino and recorded him dancing and being cute. He’s adorable 😍
One thing I noticed that could be a reference to XC2 is that the Nopon you meet in the beginning say Meh Meh like Tora. I don’t really recall any other Nopon saying that in XC1
I’m pretty sure Xc1 Bana says a variation of meh meh during his sidequest
With a very specific set of parameters, if you have Riki following a party leader (I don't remember which specific one) he will say "Meh Meh!"
And Bana also says "Meh Meh Meh Meh!" in his side quest in the main game.
Torna lasted me 40 hours or more
I loved the battle theme and Nene's voice a lot. The shoulder was fun to explore. Shulk's and Melia's outfits were better than any other outfit in the main game lol
Try equipping his black hoodie outfit with the Monado 3. My favorite color and the best combination
28:30, or thereabouts:
The book that came with the original Xenoblade japanese special edition back in 2010 was recently translated (by fans) into English. It's stated that colonies 6 and 9 are the only ones still remaining by the start of the game; the rest have been destroyed by mechon.
i expect the rift to mean something in a future game given that the fog king was a guldo from 2
I was genuinely coming up with some weird ideas as to what would happen. But no, it was just a plot device.
I have been waiting for this video with much anticipation. Not many people have covered FC. Luxin is definitely where it's at 🔥
I think the "Future Connected" part is coming from the fact that Shulk and his friends will support Melia in her goals and that she's not alone. It doesn't matter that they are from different species. Homs, NAPON..., and Highentia working for a connected Future.
The two annoying napon.
Hand in hand just like Alvis Said
Tyrea has a character art section in the art book and that made me me think wow is Tyrea playable? Then I saw the quiet moment and thought: oh she's definitely playable
I totally thought she'd be playable when I saw her in the Quiet Moment list too!
28:11 I love this
Unfinished battle plays again.
Yay.
I died before it could play fully 😭
Tyrea is the Morag to Melia's Nial.
One random inconsistency that bothered me is that Melia was always shown as summoning 4 elemental orbs in the cool fight cutscenes
The Samarians are probably the Xenoblade equivalent of Protheans from Mass Effect.
This Extra Story felt like a season of a TV show. Something like A:TLA
Also for a video idea or maybe someone knows the answer: What happens to Alvis after XC1?
I would love it if we found out what happened to him.
One of the best characters IMO.
I think we just have to wait for XC3
@@masonjohn6517 I see what you're saying but why would Alvis die in the first place? It's not like he was fighting or anything
Also the title is connecting to the future of the series not connecting current/past games (aside from the infernal guldo).
If that's the case then it makes sense not to reveal what the fog king was
Tyrea is the Impa/Sheikah to Melia's Zelda
The thumbnail is lit af
You should do a video about the potential locations of the other 9 colonies
One thing. Jazzy. Battle. Theme. Nuff said.
Could you do a video on Klaus and Zanza and the Architect.
Luxin makes 2 videos back to back
Me: 😮
I'd honestly draw more of a comparison between Niall and Morag than Hubert and Edelgard (for Tyrea and Melia in postgame).
You can level every party member's arts to level 12 after beating Future Connected.
Future connected is automatically one of my favorite xenoblades just simply because of shulks drip
When I first played Future Connected, I thought that we were going to get a Machina party member and I was kinda disappointed that we didn't.
And now we are getting multiple Machina party members in Xenoblade 3.
Kino honestly stole the show for me! I would love to see a nopon spinoff game :)
What character are you referring to when you compare Gael'gar to albedo. A number of characters from different series use that name.
A xeno crossover would be something like “Xenolegends” or something. Lol
So I wanna know wtf is going on with the fog king, they didn't explain it at all.
On the other hand, the two new battle themes are STELLAR.
Yah I didn’t understand where he came nor how he went out
The problem with saying Gael Gar could comeback is that he doesn't have the flying ability that Tyrea has.
But not because I think it is to less I just want to play more of it because Future Connected was so much fun xD
However a comparison between Future Connected and Torna is not the best comparison because one of them is a DLC that had to keep up with expectations of a 25 Dollar Season Pass (and damn it really did).
Just a feeling.
the reason XBC 1 side quests are actually better than many of the other games is because, unlike those, in generic quests you didnt need to go back to the npc and could take them all in 1 go and compleate them at your leasure, and in case 1 quest had multiple objectives it gave you all from the get go, and DE has made them even more streamlined by actually telling you which god damn orb can give you what you need, while the other quests are more involved, not as much as 2, but enough
while in 2 generic quest are the worst, you have to get them, do the objective, go back to talk to quest giver and pray to god ints not a multy objectibe quest, in case it is, rinse and repeat as many times as needed, and then, you can unlock a few other generic quests, granted, there are less generic quest in total but Quantity does not equal Quality
XBC1 generic quests were painless in that regard, there were a lot, but they were painless, and while not all to par, the character involved quests have some great gems in them, in XBC2 the generic quests were few, but were the absolute worst there are, and the constant back tracking more than tripled the time invested in them, and while the content of the character quests are better in general writting wise... somewhat, they also have the same problems the generic quests have, and not to mention, some had you waiting actual hours, not just a few minutes, cause you needed the mercenaries
There is another TH-camr who made a video on the subject
Edit: found video link th-cam.com/video/uL-p3vm08Bg/w-d-xo.html
Any homes on the shoulder are either from alcamoth ( where else would the half hons hight Entia come from) or Frontier village/ makna forest area based on the fact there are frontier village nopon like Bana on the shoulder.
We know that at least one homs was from alcamoth at least since one quest brings it up. I forget the name of it but it's the one involving getting a ring made for a high Entia
@@Vinylmelody1517 Winne!!!
Great video and I agree with most but I wouldn't compare Gael'gar to Albedo lol
@@DragonEdge10 counterpoint: Torna does the exact same thing
What part of the OST is this?
I honestly prefer FC and Torna to base game 1 and 2. I just prefer a shorter game that can communicate what it wants in under 35 hours.
Also for the introduction to Bionis Shoulder I kept on thinking of the into to Primordia
