Yay! You're back! And so many wonderful designs! Currently Song of the Nightingale is at the framers. I can hardly wait to hang it on my wall! The framer ooh'd and aah'd over the beauty of the design, and I told her about you. Thank you for sharing your art with us.
Another lovely and informative video. The whitework is especially nice! And of course all the samplers…in future videos, could you maybe share the meaning or importance of the motifs used regularly? Were the motifs used for special occasions or other reasons? Thank you so much for all you share with us.
Jacob, Linda and I had an amazing time when she was here visiting me in NC. Your name came up quite often in conversation about the talented needle man you are !!! Talk about amazing !!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful samplers , designs and finishes. Looking forward to the next video😊.
Jacob, appreciate how busy you have been…that 1699 Sampler is on my list to stitch…love everything you shared…beautiful patterns…best wishes and happy stitching ❤❤
I Love you. I hear your vocal intro, my heart swells, I see your adorableness appear on screen, and I just want to melt through the wires and give you a hug First and Foremost !!! Jacob, you are beguiling. Great USA southern twang there for intro and here again another testament that vocally you can handle it all. I am thinking Nessun Dorma will follow soon this year. Actually it is the SUBLIIIIIME tenor aria ( my Favorite ) from Manon Lescaut , ' La Reve ' , that I would SOOOOOOOOO love to hear you do. Congratulations on your WONDERFUL designs and acquisitions. As a close.... White on White is my favorite vision. I gasped at the CHARMING , GORRRRRRGEOUS pin fusion, that I WOULD NOT put a pin in !!!!! This work of yours is SOOOOOOO STUNNING. Immensely talented are you my friend. Thank you for todays great visit , have missed you. Sending you all my best, marcia
Hehehe thank you so much Marcia, you are so sweet! Nessun Dorma is amazing, I am a big big Puccini fan. I do love Tre Sbirri, Una Carrozza from "Tosca" (a.k.a. the Te Deum). That is one of those opera pieces to me which is audibly amazing, but visually when the church gets ready and there's this dramatic build with the choir singing... gah! Gets me very time. As for sticking needles in my whitework, I'm definitely planning on using it...! :D. I also want to make some more things that I can actually wear, so some collars and shirts would be amazing! :D
@@ModernFolkEmbroidery HI Jacob ! YESSSS YESSSS on ' Te Deum ' Stunning indeed ~. Sherrill Milnes was a FABULOUS Scarpia. Jacob, assuming you are aware of renowned , PHENOMENAL Tenor, ( and handsome ) Jonas Kaufmann ?.... if not , catch the you tube of his ' E Lucevan Le Stelle ' !!!! He most ALWAYS has to sing this aria back to back on stage - AND DOES for the audience that will NOT let the Opera continue with their ongoing applause/bravo's until he does ! There are a few you tube's that shows him in the role doing the two back to back aria's on stage . He just owns that aria. His Tosca performance is on a level that is untouchable today ! He recently has added the role of Othello to his repertoire - and his Nessun Dorma is Glorious ! It is his vocal control / hIs pianissimo's that are so breathtaking and sets him apart ! and YES to the collars for the white on white - elegant and charming as you are. xo marcia ps...... holding my breath on putting a pin in the cushion though ( ^ ; * ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, love the new patterns! I was so happy to get the extra gift of dream of a winter garden in my holiday countdown package! I, so excited to stitch it. So many MFE patterns I have & want to start 😊 & now some more I’d like to collect 😉
I totally enjoyed seeing your video today. And I am most happy to see the white work. Years ago, I learned hardanger embroidery, pulled and drawn thread embroidery, also white, in my guild here in Virginia USA. I haven't done it in a long time. I'm inspired to look for my books and patterns and try my hand at it again. Thanks so much for sharing this and for sharing your lovely new patterns. The reproductions are breathtaking as well.
Great patterns Jacob. Can't wait for Whitework Wednesdays. Yvette Stanton, here in Australia, has produced some fantastic Whitework books including a Fresian Whitework book, 3 Hardanger books with fantastic instructions and photographs and diagrams. She has a great shop as well with a great quality linen and the traditional linen threads. Just information for those who want to try it.
Thank you Lisa! Oh I *love* Yvette Stanton's book, can't recommend it highly enough. Beautifully illustrated as well, and it has very clear instructions on all of the complex stitches.
Great to see you again! I was getting a bit worried! And what beautiful patterns you show! It is going to be difficult to make up my mind! I am looking forward to following you again!

I love the video. Hi Louisa! Good seeing you here again :). It's been dreich in our part of the world as well... sleetmageddon was not appreciated some ten days ago :P. Your whitework sounds wonderful!
Hi from South Africa, wonderful to see a floss tube again from you. I would love to learn how to do Whitework, it is beautiful. Will be watching for more on this from you Jacob, would be delighted to learn from you.
So looking forward to meeting you in Canada in October, my first time there. Love that you're starting to do some whitework, which is my second favorite genre of needlework after cross stitch. Hardanger and Ukrainian are firmly under my belt along with some dabbling in punto antico.
you were missed! Glad to see you are well and doing so much beautiful work for us to enjoy. Loved the white work, can't to try some of those fancy stitches.
I am overwhelmed with anticipation and joy after watching your video! So good to see you and all your new projects and samplers. There are many added to my must stitch list. So looking forward to October!! Thank you for all the excitement you bring to my stitching life! Love, Laura
Jacob, it’s so wonderful to see you! You have been extremely busy and I have to say I love all your new designs! I’m wanting to stitch them all. Your white work pillow is stunning. Now is the decision on which one to start first.. you take care! ❤️
I love seeing all the patterns! The way you "cropped" the bird from the Fancy ABC design is so lovely. I have a colorful 56ct fabric that would be just perfect for the unicorn pincushion design.
Thank you Nati! I'm really happy with that crazy bird - it's so much fun to work on a small piece like this. I am excited starting the unicorn actually... :)
I’m new here and just subscribed. Your designs are stunning, and I enjoyed hearing the history surrounding the originals. Though it’s not one of the historical ones, I was drawn to The Tree of Friendship and just ordered it. I’m going to stitch it for my best friend who has a sampler wall in her home. I hope to do this design enough justice that it will be added with the others. Thank you!
@@ModernFolkEmbroidery Hello Jacob as regard white work embroidery have you looked into Mountmellick Irish embroidery,Ayrshire Scottish embroidery which is very fine and delicate and Hardanger . Also try Tudor blackwork as the stitch patterns are amazing. I love cross stitch and also work the above mentioned techniques. Happy stitching
@@neilstephen6761 Mountmellick is really lovely, as is the Ayrshire embroidery. Both are fairly "late" in origins but not less beautiful. Tudor blackwork actually rekindled my love for stitching, as I became rather obsessed about the black embroideries on old paintings - and started charting and stitching them for myself! :).
I have been checking your channel everyday for your new video. Such a nice way to start the day. Your new patterns are beautiful. Those samplers 😮 are lovely. I wondered if there was a historical connection with Scotland and the Netherlands since they are using reds/greens in their samplers. Found a book called Scotland and the Flemish People. Sounds interesting. Makes you wonder who influenced who in terms of sampler colors and the use of family initials, etc. Your whitework is gorgeous. I've always found whitework to be intimidating, especially when it includes cutwork. Thanks for the amazing video. Wish I could attend your retreat in Ontario. It's a logistical nightmare no matter which way I try to plan a flight into Canada. You'd think getting into the top hat of North America from the US wouldn't be so crazy. 😅 Have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much! Oh Scotland & Friesland... I definitely think there was a strong exchange of creativity between the countries. Knitting we already know of course, looking at the Ganseys / Jerseys of the British isles and the fishermen's sweaters from the Dutch coast - and I think that similarly stitch ideas were exchanged. The main thing is the curlicues that we see in Scottish and Frisian embroidery. I do believe that the Frisians did export a lot of their embroidery though - the earliest dated samplers from Friesland outdate the ones from the British isles with those letters - which makes me think that they probably came from here. Likewise, apparently Frisian whitework was practiced a lot during the early 17th century, and it's the mid 17th century that the first Hardanger work seems to have appeared. Friesland was part of an important trade route of course, and Hindeloopen (where those gorgeous red-green-white samplers are from) also produced stunning whitework samplers.
@@ModernFolkEmbroidery Thanks for the wonderful information. I love that embroidery techniques, etc. have been introduced elsewhere and involved. Thanks for being an amazing part of the stitching community. Your videos are always a delight. Have a great week!
So nice to see you had a video out this morning. Wow you’ve been so busy stitching and charting. Beautiful new charts a few will be added to my list. I would like to learn white work stitching your pillow is stunning. Thank you for sharing.
Jacob you could have kept us for another half an hour! It was so good to see you again! More beautiful patterns to stitch! The white work is so elegant!
Great to see you again Jacob! I'm in love with the two antique samplers NGD 1699 and IAB 1817, they are sooo beautiful! Totally my jam. What thread count would you recommend for the Whitework? The new smalls are gorgeous also! 🥰
Thank you so much Ángel! You can use any count really, as long as it's in relation to the floss you're using. If you're using a courser weave, you'll need a thicker thread (for instance, a nice crochet cotton or thick linen floss). When working on fine material, you can even use sewing floss. I worked this on fine linen, and used Sulky sewing cotton no. 30 - but I really love working with the number 12 Sulky, which gives really good coverage! :)
Lovely new patterns, Jacob. Thanks for sharing. Love the idea of whitework Wednesday - I did Hardanger years ago and really loved it, but I’ve not done it for years - your small whitework piece is amazing. ❤
Thank you so much Peg! I love the Frisian whitework - it's similar to Hardanger but Frisian whitework has a lot more variation in pattern motifs and stitches, which is quite exciting. Can't wait to share more! :)
OOh! Veel plezier in Londen! 🌷
Great video! I loved the samplers you showed. It will be hard to choose which ones to get since I'm way past SABLE already! The whitework pillow is gorgeous. Wouldn't that make a lovely ornament on very high count linen, with just a touch of red or gold maybe?
I’m so delighted to have found you and absolutely loved this video. If I may make a suggestion, I wonder if it might be possible to see your beautiful patterns and the gorgeous period pieces you’ve discovered a little more “up close”? Thank you - I’ve subscribed!
Jacob! You're back! So good to see you again. You have been missed. I had the advent calendar last year and I absolutely Loved every day of it. I loved your singing and your contagious happiness and of course the amazing stitching. Almost needless to say, I signed up this year within seconds of the opening of the sale. Your new charts are beyond beautiful and I would love to stitch many of them. My only restriction, like all stitchers, is time. But thank you for these beauties. Take good care.
Hi Jacob, So nice to see a flosstube.I missed seeing your channel since the holidays. Oh my...I want to stitch everything! A sampler from 1699 is astonishing. And I already know I will be stitching the Hindeloopen sampler. We have a woodland cottage in Friesland and love visiting Hindeloopen.I think my insomnia might be a blessing. 😉😂 Happy Tuesday!
Thank you Heidi! That's so awesome! I really need to visit Hindeloopen again - such a pretty place. We used to go there all the time cycling, it's really quite close to where I grew up and just a few miles from where my grandmother was born as well! :D It's a very beautiful part of the country.
Love love it all 🌹🌹Jakob Your white with reminded me of the pettie point needle 🪡 I’ve done with needlepoint It’s just stunning!! My second go to other than X-stitch is Crewel embroidery.. We are soooo spoiled in our previous century’s & uninformed!! I love the history of it all. Not forgetting all the homemade pastas & pastry’s 😊 My English side embroider everything 😊 tea towels bed sheets, pillow cases…great memo of learning this, & tatting , I have lively keepsakes from my Mum.. You’ve stirred up some wonderful memories ♥️🌹 I was given as a wedding gift a full size Tatted bed cover it fits a queen bed!! I treasure ♥️ Great to see you… Take care Be safe Pax Dei, Jakob
You said enough indeed. I immediately bought some patterns but they won’t be the last two this year. You outdid yourself ❤ Have a lovely time in the UK.
Hi Jacob - It was great to see you again and I am looking forward to your releases next month. Will you be releasing any whitework patterns? I will see you in October - first weekend. Sooo looking forward to that.
Hi Nicole! Yay! I'm looking forward to seeing you in October! The plan is that I will be releasing this pincushion fairly soon - sometime in April I hope to have that one ready to go. And then there'll be a bunch of period samplers as well! :)
Ooh… 🤔 Never really thought of Hardanger as whitework, but if it’s stitched in white, I guess it is! 😅 you’ve got me thinking now - although I really need to be starting my Assisi piece 😢
Thanks for the Flosstube Jacob - can't wait to meet you in October! And once again you've produced the most gorgeous work - I have limited myself to only two - as I already have your "Here Be Dragons", "Here by Lions" and your Cat! There isnt enough time in the day - or maybe in my life - for all the Jacob patterns I need to stitch.
Hehe thank you so much Kate, can't wait to meet you as well! And yes, isn't that the most annoying thing - the lack of time to stitch all the things! But just one on the go is very good, and that way you finish things quicker and then you can pick up something new and shiny again... :D
Love all the patterns Jacob! The antique samplers are amazing. I live in Belgium, so seeing a dutch sampler from 1699 is quite incredible. Thank you so much Jacob!! Hartelijk dank!
It’s so good to see you again! I kept checking Flosstube to see if you were back. You have been really busy. Such nice patterns. Your Whitework is amazing!! ❤
So glad to see you back. I'm amazed at how hard you have been working. What a glorious collection of patterns! I have been intrigued with whitework but have hesitated to try it. Starting small as you did with the pincushion is a great way to get started. Hope you do some more songs soon. I really enjoyed everything you did for Christmas.
Thank you so much Mary Ann! Yea, whitework is really awesome I think. I'm really quite happy how the pincushion turned out, and I've already got plans for some other designs as well! 🙂
I missed your videos :) All the new designs are wonderful, but I fell in love and bought as soon as I could the reproduction samplers 😁 Could not resist at all 😁 Your white embroidered pillow is gorgeous, may be one day I’ll try this :)
Thank you so much Natalia! It's good being back and I can't wait to share the other new patterns that are on the work table at the moment!!! :D And definitely try the whitework - I'll release a few small freebie things to get folks going. All you need is some (slightly thicker) white floss, white linen or other countable material, and you're off to the races! You can make whitework as easy or complex as you want - but with just a few basic stitch you can already create really stunning pieces.
Such a lovely video and always a pleasure hearing you :) Absolutely loved the rose garden and the rest. When do you plan to release the whitework pincushion? Would love to try that out :)
Thank you so much Akshay! I need to make sure that the chart is absolutely perfect, so I'll be sharing it with a few whitework specialist friends for review, and then hopefully in a couple of weeks it should be out...! :)
Once they're charted, they'll be available through the wholesaler so your LNS will be able to stock them as well - and you can order from evertote.ca in Canada as well :)
Sorry for the late reply - I hadn't seen this one until now. I'm in Europe so only accept euros but your bank will automatically work it out for you. On xe.com you can find out currency conversions.

Have a wonderful day!
Thank you! It's not as difficult as it looks, and some designs use very easy stitches. Can't wait to share videos and patterns! :)
🤗 Lovely patterns Jacob! My favorite thing you showed was the small whitework pillow! Take care.❤
Thank you so much Carlene! Hopefully soonish the pattern will be out and then there will be more whitework things from me as well! :)
Jacob you could have kept us for another half an hour! It was so good to see you again! More beautiful patterns to stitch! The white work is so elegant!
Thank you Joanne! I'm looking forward doing the next video now again, and will have some more goodies to show in detail!!! :)
I fell in love at first sight with the rosebush sampler. I had to get it . There are many others that I want . Great work ❤
Your patterns inspire me to stitch all the things! Thank you for your beautiful patterns!
Thank you Deborah, that's so good to hear!
Потрясающая работа
Love the little opening song😂
Hehe thanks Karen! I had fun making a little new tune because of the releases :D
Beautiful work Jacob. Signed up for the Christmas stitch as soon as it was posted as last year was so much fun.
Haha thank you so much!!! I think it would make a great ornament, and a touch would certainly do no harm! :)
Im stitching fancy an abc! It is a lovely chart.
Thank you Sheila, that's so good to hear!
Thank you so much Alison!!! That's great to hear. I wish I could offer time as a download in my shop... I would certainly get some myself! :D.
I’ve missed seeing you! So glad you’re back and I just love all the new designs! Can’t wait to add more to my stash!
Thank you so much Angela!!! :)

🧵🪡🌹🤗
Fabulous patterns Jakob 🎉 I’ll be ordering for sure now that I’m in Spain
Thank you so much Linda!!!
You said enough indeed. I immediately bought some patterns but they won’t be the last two this year. You outdid yourself ❤
Have a lovely time in the UK.
Aw thank you so much, that's so good to hear!!! :)
Yep, all forms of whitework! And definitely get your Assisi piece going, it'll be such fun!!! :D
Dank je Ingrid! Ja, ben daar echt heel erg blij mee... :)
It’s so good to see you again! I kept checking Flosstube to see if you were back. You have been really busy. Such nice patterns. Your Whitework is amazing!! ❤
Thank you so much Susan! I'm super excited about it :)
Lovely new patterns!
Thank you Kate!!!
I will try :)
I liked the thistle from Fancy An Alphabet
Do you have a video about transferring big charts onto fabric?
Such a lovely video and always a pleasure hearing you :) Absolutely loved the rose garden and the rest. When do you plan to release the whitework pincushion? Would love to try that out :)
Thank you so much Akshay! I need to make sure that the chart is absolutely perfect, so I'll be sharing it with a few whitework specialist friends for review, and then hopefully in a couple of weeks it should be out...! :)
Are these new samplers going to be offered un the U.S.?
Once they're charted, they'll be available through the wholesaler so your LNS will be able to stock them as well - and you can order from evertote.ca in Canada as well :)
May I ask where you got the pattern for the whitework pincushion?
How to add U.S. currency
Sorry for the late reply - I hadn't seen this one until now. I'm in Europe so only accept euros but your bank will automatically work it out for you. On xe.com you can find out currency conversions.
